SUMMARY

Eight years ago, I killed nine men.

I didn't know who they really were. I was just a weapon — a boy turned into a killer by the people who raised me. I did what I was told. I pulled the trigger. I walked away.

I was wrong.

Now I'm twenty-four. I've got nothing but guilt and an empty life. I spend my days in silence, wondering why I'm still here.

Then someone shows up at my door with a folder.

Inside it: the families of the nine men I killed. They're still alive. Struggling. Hated. And they need help.

So I make a choice. I become a teacher. I get assigned to a class no one else wants — nine students. The daughters of the nine men I killed.

They don't know who I am. They don't know what I did. They just see me as their awkward new teacher — someone who tries too hard, cares too much, and clearly doesn't belong.

But I know the truth.

And I'll protect them anyway.
