Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back
Chapter 448: I Think I Never Told You How Much I Love You
Chapter 448: Chapter 448: I Think I Never Told You How Much I Love You
After receiving Declan Pierce’s response, Tanya Sinclair completely relaxed and fainted in his arms.
Jasper Monroe saw this and gave a slightly ambiguous smile: "You’ve made her like this, I wonder if she’s more distressed or you are?"
"Shut up," Declan said coldly, "Call the doctor and nurses over."
The good temper he just showed to Tanya Sinclair vanished instantly.
Jasper Monroe was not surprised, made a phone call to arrange things. Whenever he travels, there’s always a medical team on standby at the nearest hospital. In less than twenty minutes, a whole professional medical team arrived.
Declan Pierce made room, stepping into the courtyard, Jasper Monroe’s figure approached.
"What’s the matter?" Declan asked directly.
With Jasper Monroe being such a busy person that he wishes he could squeeze forty-eight hours into a day, he naturally wouldn’t show up here without a reason.
"Just thinking of my old friend, to see if you’ve kicked the bucket?"
Even though Declan couldn’t see, the look of exasperation was clear on his face.
Jasper Monroe looked at Declan Pierce’s gaunt face, his Adam’s apple rolling slightly as he spoke in a low voice: "Dr. Wells, together with the Swiss medical team, found a new treatment method, but it’s still in the experimental phase. It’s an opportunity."
"..."
Jasper Monroe patted his shoulder, "If you don’t agree, I’ll discuss it with Tanya Sinclair."
Declan Pierce: "..."
When Tanya Sinclair woke up, the first thing she noticed was the smell of medicine.
It was the smell of fever-reducing drugs mixed with that of alcohol wipes.
She slowly opened her eyes, her vision clearing from blur, seeing a dull-gray beam overhead.
"Declan..." she shivered herself fully awake, before panic could spread, she felt her hand being held.
She turned her head to see Declan Pierce sitting by the bedside, leaning against the wall, his big hand gripping hers, and his eyes closed in rest. The dark circles under his eyes were especially apparent.
Tanya Sinclair found herself seemingly afflicted with a condition where seeing Declan Pierce would make her heart ache.
She dared not move, afraid of waking him, and also afraid that she might cry again.
She lay there, quietly watching him for a long time.
His chin was sharp, his nose bridge and brow bone more prominent, and the hollow of his eyes deeply recessed.
Beneath the black collar, a portion of clavicle was exposed. He was too thin, the lines of his clavicle sticking out like blades, his skin so thin that veins could be seen beneath.
His breathing was so light it was almost inaudible, the rise and fall of his chest barely noticeable.
Tanya Sinclair’s gaze settled on the silver-gray hearing aid in his ear.
Declan Pierce, who couldn’t see and couldn’t hear.
How much pain does he still bear?
Tanya Sinclair’s eyes brimmed with tears, she reached out gently brushing across the back of his hand, slowly sliding down to the protruding knuckles, then gradually to the wrist, feeling his weakened pulse.
Declan Pierce woke up.
He angled his head toward her direction.
"Awake?" he asked softly, "Anywhere uncomfortable?"
"No," Tanya Sinclair replied, her voice hoarse.
She actually wanted to ask if he was uncomfortable anywhere.
But that question was too silly.
A person who is both deaf and blind, whose entire body aches, where would they feel comfortable?
Outside, rain continued to fall, rustling against the osmanthus trees.
Tanya Sinclair sat up and gently embraced him.
"Declan..."
"Hmm."
"I missed you so much..."
Declan Pierce lifted his hand to embrace her as well, murmuring: "I’m sorry, Tanya."
He said: "I didn’t want you to see me like this."
"So you’d rather let me think you were dead?"
Declan didn’t reply, tacitly accepting it.
"Declan."
Tanya Sinclair reached out to cradle his face, her palm pressing against his cheekbones as if holding a handful of bones that jabbed into her heart, making tears almost spill from her eyes.
"You listen to me, I don’t care what you turn into, as long as you live one more day, you have to be by my side," Tanya Sinclair choked up, "I don’t want you to live to a hundred, I want you to spend every day you live with me. Whether you’re blind, deaf, or ugly, I don’t care."
She leaned closer, kissed the corner of his mouth.
"Declan, I seem to have never told you how much I love you..."
