Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree
Chapter 1117: The Enraged Dragon
Chapter 1117: Chapter 901: The Enraged Dragon
The Bright Giant Lion chased through several stone corridors, but ultimately could only watch helplessly as the blood light dove into a fork in the depths of the labyrinth, shrinking further and soon vanishing at the edge of the gray mist.
Duke reformed his figure in a stone wall recess far from the spatial area, having already stored the Light Rule Fragment in his Space Ring.
He glanced back, where the furious roar of the Bright Giant Lion and the crashing sounds of shattered stone walls still echoed in the distant passage.
Vera silently emerged from the shadow of a nearby stone pillar, nodding slightly at him. They didn’t linger and silently sped in the direction opposite to Valentine.
Only after Duke and Vera were certain that they had completely shaken off the Bright Giant Lion and Valentine did they stop in a relatively safe stone wall recess.
Duke raised his left hand to activate the Divine Revelation Mark, and a translucent light screen silently unfolded before him.
His points surged by more than one million the moment he acquired the Light Rule Fragment, propelling him much further into territory deemed unreachable by others.
Simultaneously, a line of exceedingly brief tip text appeared at the edge of the Divine Revelation Mark, indicating that he had earned the qualification to advance to the next layer and could at any time activate a teleportation to the fourth layer.
He stared at that line of text for a few seconds, calculating silently in his heart. The point threshold accumulated for the third layer is most likely one million.
He had already acquired over fifty thousand previously, and with the addition of this Rule Fragment’s more than one million, he directly surpassed that threshold.
This aligns quite well with his predictions before entering the third layer; the point threshold itself isn’t classified information, as summoning a one million point qualification isn’t an insurmountable chasm, just by diligently hunting demons and scavenging treasures in the third layer.
The true challenge lies in the vastness of the third layer’s area, while the teleportation qualification to the fourth layer is only linked to points, meaning those who have enough points can choose to leave the third layer at any time.
The longer you stay, the more Rule Crystals, Relics, and Fragments you can harvest, thereby significantly increasing your strength.
Currently, Duke could certainly proceed alone to the fourth layer, but he has no intention of doing so.
Vera’s points are still lacking quite a bit; he at least has to help her accumulate enough points to reach one million, then they will enter the fourth layer together.
…
Valentine regrouped at the end of a fork with two guards, but the condition of the two demigod-level guards was not good.
One guard’s chest armor was dented, and the left arm’s armor was entirely shattered, with a deep wound down to the bone on his forearm still oozing blood.
The other guard’s face was pale, with half-dried blood foam clinging to the corner of his mouth, and the hand gripping the sword trembled imperceptibly.
They withdrew immediately upon receiving Valentine’s message, but the Bright Giant Lion’s pursuit was too fierce; they barely escaped using the residual energy from the Dragon Blood Crystal Fragment.
Valentine only glanced at them, neither questioning their injuries nor offering any words of comfort.
His pale gold vertical pupils were as cold as sheathed swords, and he turned to stride forward along the path they had come.
The three walked along the labyrinth corridor for a while before Valentine suddenly stopped, retrieving an item from the Space Ring.
It was an entirely black disc, its surface smooth like a mirror, and the center engraved with a very fine spiral pattern, with numerous tiny forks at the end of the pattern, extending like blood vessels to the edge of the disc.
The disc was very thin, its edge sharp enough to cut the skin, with no runes engraved nor gemstones embedded, merely laying quietly in his palm, yet causing the two guards behind him to change their expressions simultaneously.
“Master, are you going to use the Blood Attraction Disc?” one of the guards lowered his voice, filled with undisguised dread, “This thing only has three uses, and the family has only assigned you this one piece—”
“Enough nonsense,” Valentine interrupted him, his tone calm but carrying an undeniable decisiveness.
He crouched down before a gray-white rock fragment that had fallen from the upper stone wall and placed the disc on the ground, then quickly drew a cut on his left index fingertip with a dagger from his waist.
A drop of dark golden blood rolled from the wound, perfectly landing in the center of the spiral pattern on the disc.
The moment the blood drop touched the disc’s surface, a faint dark red film emerged on the pitch-black surface; the drop of blood was wrapped in the film, suspended at the center of the disc, neither rising nor falling, solidified in mid-air as if subjected to an Immobilization Technique.
The next instant, the blood drop began to spread outward.
It did not flow across the disc’s surface but hovered at a few inches above it, gently extending along the central spiral pattern; the dark red blood splitting into dense threads, which did not follow any geometric rules, some to the left, some to the right, intersecting, entwining, breaking then reconnecting, as if extracting information from the blood itself.
Suddenly, a faintly sweet acrid smell wafted in the air, mingled with some ancient cold fragrance, as if something far away gently turned over.
The air around the disc began to thicken and chill, and the pale gold light emanating from the ancient patterns on the stone wall automatically twisted and dimmed as it neared the disc, like being obscured by an invisible hand.
Moments later, all the blood threads ceased their growth, forming an extremely simple pattern above the disc.
A very fine, very long curved trajectory started from the center, veered in a certain direction, and finally stopped at a point on the disc’s edge.
