Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree
Chapter 1115: Rule Fragment
Chapter 1115: Chapter 900: Rule Fragment
Duke took out two more magic potions and handed them over, but Neptune glanced at them and didn’t take them.
He wiped the bloodstains from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, using his still movable right hand to support himself on the rubble and slowly stood up, declining this goodwill.
The pride of the Sea Race would not allow him to accept what he viewed as handouts.
Duke did not insist but put the magic potion back into his space ring, calmly looking at the blood-covered yet stubbornly standing Royal Family member of the Sea Race, and said, “Serafina helped me; I owe her a favor, it’s only right to lend a hand.”
Upon hearing these words, a complex expression finally flickered across Neptune’s cold and hard face.
He said nothing more, simply returning the water bottle to Duke before raising his right hand and injecting his spiritual power into the Divine Revelation Mark on the back of his hand.
Silvery-blue transmission light descended from the heavens, enveloping his battered body.
Duke looked at him, somewhat surprised.
Neptune’s injuries had stabilized under the effect of the Spring of Life’s water. With his Tier Three High Stage strength, he could certainly continue on the Path of Divine Revelation, even wait for his demigod-level guards to join him, but he evidently could not accept continuing the trial in such a wretched state.
Duke did not try to persuade him to stay; he simply nodded slightly toward him.
Neptune’s figure became increasingly blurry in the transmission light. Before being completely engulfed, he suddenly spoke, softly saying “Thank you”, then his whole being vanished along with the contracting silvery-blue light on the rubble-strewn ground.
Duke stared silently at the empty rubble-strewn ground for a moment, then put away the water bottle and turned towards the direction he came from.
…
Three days later, deep within the maze.
Duke and Vera crouched side-by-side in a dark crevice formed by a stone pillar and stone wall intersecting, dozens of meters above the ground. The aura of the World Tree covered them like an exceedingly thin, pale green veil, blending their spiritual power fluctuations, rule aura, body temperature, and breathing seamlessly into the surrounding environment.
Duke focused his Life Rule Perception ahead, using the faint glow emitted by the ancient patterns on the stone wall to observe the area enveloped in intense light attribute rule energy.
It was a circular space wider than any other stone chamber encountered before. The ancient patterns on the stone walls were all lit up, flowing at speeds several times faster than in any other area of the maze, with all the glow converging towards the center of the space.
Suspended in the center was a fragment about half a foot long, entirely formed from pure pale golden light, with rune-like light patterns constantly emerging and fading on its surface, each cycle of brightness and dimness creating extremely subtle Light Rules ripples in the surrounding air.
Duke recognized what it was just by sensing it, a rule fragment.
A highly condensed substance of rules, rarer and more valuable than a Key of Rules, manifested in various forms. The one before them clearly belonged to Light Rules.
The Light Rules aura emitted by the object was so intense that it could be perceived clearly even from a distance, as if staring at a miniaturized sun in the darkness.
But Duke did not move, nor did Vera.
Both understood the kind of formidable guards hiding beneath the light before them.
In the center of the space, a demon so large it nearly occupied the entire inner circle.
The creature seemed like a giant lion carved from milky white obsidian, but each strand of fur was flowing light filament, with its eye sockets embedded with two burning dark golden pupils.
Level 4 demon.
It lay at the closest point to the Light Rule Fragment, its sturdy tail slowly beating the stone slab ground, each beat causing the surrounding air to tremble slightly.
At three directions on the outer perimeter of the space, each squatted a demigod-level demon, varying in form, each aura firmly pressed at demigod level.
Three demigod-level demons along with one Level 4 demon made the guard force much sterner than any Duke had encountered before.
The two did not speak; they simply exchanged a glance in the dark crevice.
Duke used spiritual power to directly transmit a piece of information into Vera’s consciousness. With only the two of them, regardless of strategy, attempting to seize the Light Rule Fragment amidst four demons was an absurdly high risk.
Vera nodded slightly, did not respond immediately, but lightly pointed a finger towards a certain direction below.
Duke followed the direction she indicated, and his pupils shrank slightly.
Valentine and his two demigod-level guards had somehow arrived. Valentine walked at the front, his demigod-level aura restrained as usual, exuding an appearance of composure, while behind him, the two heavily armored guards spread out to either side, stepping steadily and silently, forming a triangular formation ready to support each other at any moment.
They stopped at the entrance of the space, using the shadow of the stone wall to conceal their figures, Valentine’s pale golden vertical pupils fixed unblinkingly on the mass of suspended pale golden light in the center.
He evidently hadn’t quite discerned the true form of the Light Rule Fragment, but the overwhelming Light Rules aura was enough for him to ascertain it was a rare treasure related to Light Rules.
He turned his head slightly, quietly speaking to the guard on his left.
Duke focused his spiritual power on their lips and teeth, capturing their conversation through the extremely subtle air vibrations on the stone wall’s surface.
