Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree
Chapter 1114: Valentine (2)
Chapter 1114: Chapter 899: Valentine (2)
Vera stood by his side, her fingertips had already blossomed with a few tiny light purple thorn flowers, the spikes on the petals glimmering coldly in the dim stone corridor.
Duke was very clear that though his Six-Color Divine Light could instantly kill Demigod-level opponents, there was a fatal prerequisite: it must be unexpected.
Previously, those Demigod-level demons were caught by surprise when he entered within inches by Wind Elementalization, and only by manifesting the Six-Color Divine Light Sword in an instant could he succeed in his strike.
But the three Demigods ahead had clearly discovered him in advance, their Spiritual Power firmly locked onto him, and Valentine was focusing most of his attention on him.
In this situation, to forcibly make a move would risk the Six-Color Divine Light either missing or being blocked by a joint defense, plunging him and Vera straight into a siege by the three Demigods.
Duke glanced at Vera. Their eyes briefly met in the air, without any verbal exchange, Vera understood his meaning immediately.
In the next moment, Duke suddenly thrust his right hand forward, and a wall of dark golden sand mixed with Four-Color Divine Light rose like a suddenly closing gate, sealing the entire passage of the intersection tightly.
The grains of sand were closely compressed by the Four-Color Divine Light, with dark red, earth yellow, pale blue, and azure rules glowing on the wall’s surface, turning the originally metallic dark gold wall into a solid aurora-like barrier.
At the same time, he grabbed Vera’s wrist with his left hand, and they both transformed into a gust of clear wind, rushing frantically towards the depths of the intersection behind.
As soon as the sand wall rose, Valentine struck it with his palm, the tangible Dragon Might condensed in his palm, his five fingers covered with fine dragon scales, unleashing a terrifying force capable of smashing a whole block of granite straight into the center of the sand wall.
He thought this strike would easily penetrate any defense hastily set up by a Level 3 Mage, but the feedback in his palm made his pale gold vertical pupils suddenly contract.
The sand wall did not budge, only the thin layer of Four-Color Light on its surface rippled slightly upon contact with his force, the ripples spreading outward from the point of impact and then silently dissipating, like a pebble swallowed noiselessly by a deep pool.
Valentine’s Dragon Might clashed fiercely with the Four-Color Divine Light at the contact point, the exploding shockwave made the old patterns on the surrounding stone walls flash violently, yet the sand wall remained firmly blocking the passage, not a single sand grain fell off.
Valentine’s face turned grim, he stepped back two paces, his right hand fingers closed again into a blade, faint golden Dragon Breath Flames spouted from between his fingers, forming a fierce golden Light Blade along the edge of his palm.
This time he did not hold back, the Light Blade enveloped with the full Dragon Might and Flame Rules of a Demigod-level, cleaved fiercely at the same position on the sand wall.
The Four-Color Divine Light glowed brightly upon contact with the Light Blade, the four rules’ lights erupted simultaneously, decomposing, absorbing, and reflecting layer by layer the impact of the Dragon Breath Flames.
A very thin crack appeared on the surface of the sand wall, but as soon as it appeared it was filled and repaired by the surrounding Four-Color Light, in just a blink of an eye.
Behind him, the two Demigod-level guards exchanged glances, displaying slight surprise, before simultaneously drawing their swords and stepping forward.
The two Heavy Swords, burning with Dragon Breath Flames, and Valentine’s Light Blade struck the sand wall’s front together, three Demigod-level attacks exploded simultaneously at the same point.
The sand wall finally trembled violently, its rhythm of the Four-Color Divine Light was momentarily disrupted, and there was a loosening of compression between the sand grains.
The three seized this fleeting gap to continuously attack, finally splitting open a passage big enough for someone to pass through.
Valentine went through the crack first, followed closely by the two guards, but the rear of the intersection was already empty.
The labyrinthine passage has countless intersections, each leading to more intersections, trying to track Duke and Vera within this layer upon layer of stone corridors was akin to finding a needle in a haystack.
Valentine stood at the center of the junction, his pale gold vertical pupils scanning each empty stone corridor, the cold smile on his lips had vanished completely.
The guards behind him silently sheathed their Heavy Swords, one lowly asked if they should continue pursuit, Valentine did not answer, just snorted coldly and turned to walk in another direction.
Duke and Vera continued traversing deep within the maze for some time, only stopping in the shadow of a stone pillar at an intersection once they confirmed that Valentine and the others had been completely shaken off.
Duke unfurled his perception, leveraging the faint golden glow of the old patterns on the stone walls to complete the map of the route they used to shake off Valentine just now.
Vera stood beside him, the light purple thorn flowers at her fingertips still half-blooming in a state of alert, her deep sea sapphire blue eyes vigilantly scanning every intersection around them.
After rounding a few intersections, Duke’s perception suddenly detected a familiar energy signal.
The signal was just ahead and not far away, Tier Three High Stage, energy fluctuation chaotic and urgent, clearly at extreme peril.
Pursuing this signal was a massive and violent energy, a Demigod-level demon.
Duke signaled Vera to stop, both lowering their stance, quietly approaching the signal’s source along the inside of the stone wall.
The stone corridor ahead was in a chaotic mess, the gray-white stone slab floor was littered with deep pits from heavy impacts and dark red claw marks still burning, the ancient patterns on both sides of the stone walls flickered intensely under some kind of violent energy impact, several patterns had completely dimmed.
Neptune leaned against a broken stone column, half-kneeling amid the rubble, dark blue blood trickling from his forehead, caking half of his face.
His left arm hung limp at his side, a deep, bone-revealing laceration continued to bleed, each breath coming with intense gasps.
A Rapier forged from Deep Sea Crystal lay not far from him among the debris, the blade covered in cracks, the Sapphire on the hilt dimmed to the point of being barely discernible.
Not far from him in the center of the passage, a Demigod-level demon was slowly withdrawing its massive claw that had fractured a stone column, its dark golden pupils glimmering coldly with bloodthirst from the deep-set eye sockets of its armor as it advanced toward him again.
Neptune used his still-moving right hand to support himself on the ground, attempting to stand, but an injury to his leg caused him to fall back after barely rising halfway.
He gritted his teeth, pouring the remaining Magic Power in his body into his right hand fingers, a deep blue Water Element light sphere shakily forming in his palm, readying for a throw.
But his eyes betrayed him, within those sapphire-like eyes with a resemblance to Serafina, deep seated was despair, having already prepared to activate the Divine Revelation Mark and give up.
Duke’s silhouette manifested quietly in the shadow of a stone wall near the demon, and as he appeared, the Six-Color Divine Light Sword was already formed, the dazzling and lethal sword edge woven from six rules’ lights.
The demon sensed the change in airflow at the last moment, its dark golden eyes suddenly pivoting to its rear, but it was too late.
The arc of Six-Color Light swept across its neck, scales shattered from the contact point outward upon sword edge touch, the blade penetrating its entire neck, completely severing the head still open-eyed with dark golden pupils from its body.
The massive body crashed to the ground, blood sprayed from the severed neck, splashing a dark red fan-shaped spray onto the stone floor.
The Water Element light sphere in Neptune’s hand silently dispersed as the demon’s head hit the ground, he stared blankly at the scene before him, then raised his head to see Duke standing beside the demon’s body.
Duke did not say much, merely walked over to Neptune, took out a water bottle from his Space Ring, unscrewed the cap and handed it over.
The bottle contained not ordinary water, but the Spring of Life’s mystical healing water.
Neptune paused for a moment, then took the bottle, and tilted his head back for a few gulps.
His condition visibly stabilized, the wound at his forehead stopped bleeding, new flesh buds began sprouting at the edges of his left arm’s wound, and his breathing gradually steadied from violent gasping as if near death.
