Chapter 444: Chapter 330: Isaac: What I want, I will take myself; what I don’t want, you cannot give
The battles that followed were hardly worth mentioning. The standard Tier Four Demons and Evil God’s Apostles were no match for Isaac, unable to withstand a single exchange. His primary combat method remained the same: using the Divine Spirit Book to summon the power of the Master of Billions of Flesh.
It couldn’t be helped. The Master of Billions of Flesh had been inexplicably and severely injured, to the point where It had fallen into a deep slumber. Isaac had to nourish It back to health.
After all, besides being the Divine Spirit Book’s muscle, the materials for Its transaction rituals were very easy to obtain. To Isaac, this made It as important as the heartlands of Kyushu!
What was slightly different, however, was that Isaac was starting to change—or rather, his combat methods were.
As his research deepened, Isaac completed an increasing number of projects and undertook new ones. Slowly, he found himself with more and more cards in his hand. For a Wizard, this was undoubtedly a good thing, as it enabled him to handle a wider variety of situations.
But for Isaac at present, it also created some trouble. For instance, in the heat of battle, he often didn’t know which card to play.
His knowledge would tell him that Skill A could solve the problem, but his ingrained fear of insufficient firepower would have him worrying that it wouldn’t be enough...
Normally, he could figure out the answer with a bit more thought, but battle didn’t afford him that luxury. So, he would end up in a situation where he just threw all the cards in his hand at once...
It was efficient, certainly, and the battles ended quickly.
The Magic Power consumption wasn’t high for him at his current level; it was barely worth mentioning.
’But it just feels... not quite normal...’
’I can’t keep fighting like this. It’s too absurd.’
Besides, while many of his spells were powerful, their aesthetics were just... off. Take Flesh Mutation, for example. Although it had been given a new lease on life by the enhancement from his Evil Eye, it had also become even more... abstract!
’If I want to change my image, this is something that has to go.’
Isaac had many other spells like this that he needed to phase out, all of which required gradual adjustment and planning during his battles.
Of course, this didn’t mean completely abandoning them. He would just set them aside, no longer using them as his primary combat tools. Or perhaps, he could adapt them into a combat style for a different persona.
In any case, in the battles that followed, Isaac began to consciously adjust his fighting style. But as he did, he made a startling discovery: he had astonishingly few spells that looked normal!
The vast majority either spewed black smoke or gushed blood. In a Cultivation World, this would be the stuff of a Demon Ancestor...
Only imitation spells like [Positive Infinitesimal] looked normal. But at Tier Four, this type of Magic clearly lacked destructive power. He would first need to enhance the relevant Authority, but...
Isaac’s Authorities were either snatched from Outer Gods or were Fantasy Authorities. Unlike other Wizards, whose powers came from [Legend] or well-established systems of Magic, his had no standard path of progression.
So, while that path was viable, it was also incredibly troublesome. And just for the sake of tweaking his fighting style, the effort simply wasn’t worth the reward.
Therefore, after a dozen or so battles of adjustment and experimentation, Isaac finally made the changes he’d been planning. He would prioritize the Divine Spirit Book, with his Demon Eye as the second choice, and all other methods as a last resort.
Of course, in practice, these two abilities were already enough to solve most of his problems. As for any problem they *couldn’t* solve...
Isaac thought for a moment. Turns out, there really weren’t any. These two methods had it all: raw power and unique mechanics!
Especially the Divine Spirit Book, which could, depending on the situation, bring out different forms of... the Master of Billions of Flesh!
Yes, this was a new discovery Isaac had made after extensive practical application in battle.
The "Billions" in the Master of Billions of Flesh’s name didn’t just refer to the boundless nature of Its Flesh Dimension; it also alluded to Its Authority. As a Dimensional Demon God, the Master of Billions of Flesh had no fixed form.
Its form could change at any time as needed.
Any species that possessed the Concept of [Flesh] could be Its form!
Naturally, It could also possess their corresponding abilities!
This sent Isaac’s mind racing. ’If the Master of Billions of Flesh is like this, what about the other Deities?’
’Would the Virtual Deities under my command have this ability, or could they develop it?’
’My development of the Master of Billions of Flesh is still far too low!’
...
「One month later.」
SQUELCH SQUELCH SQUELCH~
Out in the Wilderness, after letting the Master of Billions of Flesh devour yet another Tier Four Demon, the battle came to a temporary close. Isaac looked up at the sky, his brow slightly furrowed.
Only three months remained before he had to leave the Endless Tower. Their time was running short. But this damn promotion ritual showed no sign of completion whatsoever. The worst part was, it didn’t even come with a progress bar!
Even the Silver-robed Mage himself didn’t know how much more was needed.
Recently, many Wizards had slowly started to give up on the Hunting. They couldn’t be blamed. Even for Tier Four Wizards, this was no easy task. A normal one-on-one fight was a guaranteed win.
But the problem was, these damn Demons didn’t appear one by one!
They came in groups of ten at the very least!
One could only say that the Dimensional Demon Gods were truly extravagant, throwing around Magic Power like it was fucking free.
They might have had their fun creating them, but it made things miserable for Wizards like Isaac. This was especially true for the less powerful ones. They usually had to team up in groups of two or three just to handle a single Demon rampaging out of an Underground Palace. After expending a ton of effort to kill it, they would have to immediately rush to the next hotspot...
