Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 361: Chapter 264: The 2 Brothers with Wildly Different Styles
Hearing his companion’s words, Gallard’s eyes flickered. While nonchalantly edging away from the Grey-robed Mage, he replied, "It’s nothing. Just interesting. To think a Star Beast here could actually injure my Servant Demon."
The Grey-robed Mage glanced at Gallard, making no comment on the flimsy excuse, and simply nodded.
A Tier Three Servant Demon might have some standing elsewhere, but in the Star Sea...
It was worthless.
The Grey-robed Mage refused to believe Gallard was unaware of such a simple truth. That, combined with his movement—ostensibly to get a better look at the Divine Corpse, but in reality to put distance between them—made it clear that Gallard was on guard against him.
The Grey-robed Mage wasn’t sure why Gallard had suddenly grown so wary, but he didn’t dwell on it. ’He’s a Mad Witch, after all. Their actions are always unpredictable.’
On the other hand, Gallard hadn’t actually sensed his Servant Demon’s situation. Pinpointing its location and relaying the information took time. That’s why, before making a move on the Angel and the Demon, both Isaac and Caesar had managed to partially block Gallard’s perception of them.
Gallard’s reaction was born purely of instinct—or rather, his Mad Witch Traits were sounding an alarm. As a seasoned Mad Witch, prudence was an essential quality for survival.
Gallard was no exception. Thus, even without making deals with Outer Gods, he always stockpiled a large number of "Miracles" for self-preservation. This caution had saved his life many times.
And that sudden, sharp pain in his heart moments ago was a warning from his "Miracles"!
An unprecedentedly strong one, at that!
As a wicked Mad Witch, Gallard excelled at judging others by his own dark standards. Thus, the moment he felt that stab of pain in his heart, his first suspect was the Grey-robed Mage right beside him!
After all, the man had both the capability and the motive!
Because if the roles were reversed, he would have done the same—found a way to eliminate the Grey-robed Mage. After all...
He had already prepared several contingency plans for that very scenario. The moment he deemed the time right, he would be the first to make a move on the Grey-robed Mage...
Judging from the intensity of the warning, the chances of the man next to him making a move were extremely high. He was, after all, also a Tier Three High-level Wizard! He came from Traveler, a Wizard Organization as renowned as the Flesh Sect, though much smaller.
Traveler was a Wizard Organization older and more mysterious than the Flesh Sect. Its members pursued the creation of entirely new worlds. Each one was a Master of Worlds, controlling their own Little World and proficient in various forms of construction Magic. The organization’s membership was currently transitioning from Legendary Mages to Arcanists.
This was because the Arcanist’s path of advancement, unlike that of Legendary Mages who relied on the Power of Faith, was a better fit for Traveler’s magical philosophy.
Although Traveler’s Wizards leaned toward research, they could not be underestimated. Every member possessed a Little World. While not on the same level as Isaac’s Dimension World—it couldn’t grant them a game-breaking ability like Infinite Magic Power—a Little World faced significantly less rejection from the main world, almost none in fact. Consequently, the boons it granted its master were much stronger.
Their Magic Power reserves and Casting speed were far beyond that of an Ordinary Wizard. ’With the enhancement from a Little World, if a real fight were to break out... even if I played all my trump cards, the outcome would be hard to predict.’
And so, the two men, each harboring their own sinister designs, warily watched one another while continuing their unspoken agreement to cast Magic on the Star God’s Divine Corpse, infusing it with one portion of Star Beast essence after another.
Meanwhile, enveloped in a golden radiance, Isaac, Caesar, and Lorna sped silently across the surface of the sea. Along their path, not a single Star Beast, be it Tier Three, Tier Four, or even Tier Five, managed to detect the seemingly brilliant ray of golden light.
This was the Path of the Gods, a power Caesar had obtained from an unknown Deity. Its uses were severely limited, but it allowed him to borrow the Deity’s power for swift and clandestine movement. While its travel efficiency couldn’t match Isaac’s Dimension World, its stealth was undoubtedly far superior.
’Now that our opponent is a Tier Three High-level Wizard, I can’t risk using my Dimension World for travel like I usually would.’
’The Dimension World might be of a higher order, but Gallard is still a High-level Mage, not to mention a Mad Witch who has made deals with who-knows-how-many Outer Gods. In his presence, I can’t guarantee that a rift to the Dimension World would even open successfully.’
’Of course, I had a contingency plan for this. I have other methods to approach Gallard undetected.’
’But as they say, no plan survives first contact. My older brother Caesar may be a Knight Barbarian, but the Deity who favors him certainly isn’t—not when compared to me, anyway. Using Its power is not only stealthier, but faster too.’
Within the speeding golden light, Isaac curiously studied the radiance enveloping the three of them. A ripple flowed through his eyes as he activated his [Analysis] Authority at full power, yet from beginning to end, he failed to glean a single piece of useful information.
’Apparently, a living Deity is different from a dead one. Their information isn’t so easy to extract.’
Although he couldn’t extract any information, Isaac noticed that the Deity behind Caesar showed no reaction to his probing. He let loose and kept analyzing for the entire journey. ’If I manage to analyze even a little something, it’ll be a huge boon for my research!’
Unfortunately, even with his [Analysis] Authority running at full throttle, he still hadn’t gotten a single thing. Then, just before they arrived at their destination, Isaac thought he heard a soft chuckle.
Hearing the chuckle, which sounded both infinitely distant and intimately close, Isaac sighed. The ripples in his eyes dissipated as he withdrew his focus and turned his attention to the battlefield ahead.
Isaac patted down his Wizard Robe and made a soft gesture with his right hand. A silver Magic Wand materialized in his grasp. The instant it appeared, a hideously evil Demon Eye opened on its tip, just as another opened in the center of Isaac’s forehead. Simultaneously, with a tearing sound from the back of his head, the long-unseen Demon Claw Harmon burst out, the crimson Demon Eye in its palm frantically looking around.
This combat stance, which clashed so violently with the aura of the golden light, made even a mentally-prepared Caesar shoot him a sideways glance.
After a moment of silence, Caesar sighed softly. His right hand rested on the Longsword at his hip, which he then slowly drew. As the blade left its sheath, tendrils of Golden Flame began to rise from his body. Simultaneously, with a sharp CRACKLE of Thunder, a magnificent suit of silver armor materialized around him.
The Golden Flame, the silver lightning coiling around his body, and his handsome features all combined to make Caesar look like a Divine General descended from the heavens—the very image of holiness and power.
The two brothers were a study in contrasts.
Lorna watched the starkly different styles of the two brothers, fell silent for a moment, and then let out a soft sigh. Deep red Dragon Flame streamed from her sleeve, coalescing in her hand into a Dragon Flame Longsword!
Soon, just as the trio had fully assumed their combat stances, the speeding golden light reached its destination. The battle...
...was about to erupt!
