Chapter 157: Chapter 125: Fighting Qi Wings, The Flying Dragon Knight’s Hidden Identity

"For someone like him who chases after rapid advancement, the smoother the early stages, the harder it will be to break through later on."

From a certain point of view, Gavin wasn’t wrong.

Pursuing only speed in one’s promotions does indeed create certain vulnerabilities.

For example, a weak foundation, combat power that doesn’t match one’s Level, and other shortcomings.

But clearly, the Dark Night Knight was an exception.

In other words, as his Level rapidly increased, his combat power grew right along with it. He didn’t show any signs of a weak foundation or a mismatch between his power and his rank.

Killing the Ironblood Duke in a single blow was the best proof!

Regardless of what methods he used or what Secret Techniques he employed, it wouldn’t change the fact that his combat power far surpassed that of other Silver Great Knights.

The Flying Dragon Knight raised his left hand, patted Gavin on the shoulder, and continued, "Don’t let your personal feelings cloud your judgment."

"You think he’s inferior to me because I am your teacher."

"But the truth is, compared to him—already a Silver Great Knight at such a young age—my own Cultivation Talent is indeed quite ordinary."

"Even the Ironblood Duke, whom he killed in a single blow, had far superior Cultivation Talent than I do."

"Being less talented than others is nothing to be ashamed of."

"What’s truly pitiful is when someone with less talent is unwilling to put in the extra effort, yet still wants to reach the same level as a genius."

"Enough about that. In my name, send someone to deliver him an invitation. Say that I wish to meet with him, and let him decide the time and place."

Gavin looked at the Flying Dragon Knight with a surprised expression.

He wasn’t surprised that the Flying Dragon Knight wanted to meet the Dark Night Knight.

What surprised him was that the Flying Dragon Knight had let the Dark Night Knight decide both the time and location of the meeting.

Although he didn’t believe the Dark Night Knight was stronger than the Flying Dragon Knight, one could never be too careful.

If the Dark Night Knight was a man of low moral character and set a trap at the meeting place, an accident could happen, even if the Flying Dragon Knight’s mount was a Two-legged Flying Dragon.

Gavin didn’t speak, but the Flying Dragon Knight instantly guessed what he was thinking and continued, "Though I’ve never met him, I believe he isn’t some despicable villain."

"Rest assured, nothing will happen. Go and prepare the invitation."

After hearing the Flying Dragon Knight’s words, Gavin nodded, turned, and left the garden.

Once Gavin had left, the Flying Dragon Knight returned to his Two-legged Flying Dragon’s side and resumed scrubbing it down.

...

「Noon.」

Silver Creek City, the City Lord’s Mansion.

After finishing lunch with a few High Level generals stationed in Silver Creek City, the Flying Dragon Knight walked unhurriedly toward the rear courtyard of the City Lord’s Mansion, planning to return to his bedroom for an afternoon nap.

He might be the Kalin Kingdom’s greatest warrior, but he was still nearly ninety years old, and his body was long past its prime.

To give a simple example: if he were just ten or so years younger, he wouldn’t have needed to bring his student and Clan Knights on the assassination mission against the Green Forest Duke. He and his dragon alone could have breached Green Forest Castle and cut the Duke down.

Yet now, even with the help of his student and Clan Knights, he had only managed to breach Green Forest Castle and Silver Creek City, failing to actually kill the Green Forest Duke.

’A man gets old. There’s no use fighting it.’

As the Flying Dragon Knight was about to return to his bedroom, he saw a man sitting in a pavilion off the corridor outside. He had never truly met the man before, but he was no stranger.

A white mask with red stripes, armor as black as ink!

Though he couldn’t see the other person’s face, the Flying Dragon Knight recognized him the moment he saw the white mask.

The Dark Night Knight!

The person sitting in the pavilion was none other than Roy!

In just a single morning, he had crossed the Laine Kingdom from north to south, traveling from Ice Wind City to Silver Creek City.

Just as he had predicted, upon arriving in the Southern Territory, he had easily found out that the Flying Dragon Duke was in Silver Creek City.

The Flying Dragon Knight had not expected Roy to appear at the City Lord’s Mansion at this time.

However, the surprised expression on his face quickly vanished, and he walked toward Roy with a calm demeanor.

Soon, he entered the pavilion and sat down across from Roy.

"I only just received news this morning that you killed the Ironblood Duke in a single blow, so I sent someone to deliver an invitation to you."

"I didn’t expect you to arrive so soon."

the Flying Dragon Knight said to Roy in a measured tone.

"You sent someone to invite me. You’re not looking to schedule a duel, are you?"

Roy watched the Flying Dragon Knight calmly and spoke slowly.

"These old bones of mine can’t take much of a beating."

"If you had used every trick up your sleeve and struggled to kill the Ironblood Duke, I might have entertained the thought of a friendly spar with you."

"But as things stand, I’d like to live a few more years."

The Flying Dragon Knight immediately shook his head and said with a smile.

If anyone else from the Kalin Kingdom had heard the Flying Dragon Knight’s words, they would have been utterly shocked.

His words were tantamount to admitting that he was no match for the Dark Night Knight.

Roy’s brow furrowed slightly upon hearing the Flying Dragon Knight’s reply.

He wasn’t at all surprised that the Flying Dragon Knight was so calm upon seeing him.

Even though he was old, the Flying Dragon Knight was still a Silver Great Knight; he naturally possessed the composure that came with his station.

However, he hadn’t expected the Flying Dragon Knight to so directly reveal that he had no intention of being his enemy.

Just as Roy was about to say something more, the Flying Dragon Knight’s voice rang out again.
