Chapter 132: Chapter 117: Wizarding World, Level 4 Alchemist

After briefly looking over the Elemental Heart Meditation Method, he sighed helplessly.

Unlike the incomplete Purgatory Dragon Meditation Method, the Elemental Heart Meditation Method was complete.

But the Elemental Heart Meditation Method wasn’t very valuable. It was the most common, beginner-level Meditation Technique in the Wizarding World, containing only four Will Runes.

In simple terms, even when cultivated to its absolute limit, it would only raise a Wizard Apprentice’s Spiritual Power to the bare minimum required for promotion to an Official Wizard.

Although it was the most common beginner-level Meditation Technique, the Elemental Heart Meditation Method was not without its merits.

For one thing, the Elemental Heart Meditation Method contained the Magic Models and information for several Level Zero Tricks, as well as some Apprentice-level knowledge and common facts about the Wizarding World.

After briefly browsing the Elemental Heart Meditation Method, Roy put the Memory Crystal Ball back into the leather pouch, picked up the waterskin beside him, and walked toward Thomas’s right hand.

Soon, he reached Thomas’s severed hand and took the Barrier Ring off its middle finger.

He washed the ring with some clean water from his waterskin and slid the Barrier Ring onto his own left middle finger.

From the outside, the Barrier Ring looked like an unremarkable black ring.

It had no inlaid Gemstones, and its design was very simple, just the most ordinary style.

But the Barrier Ring was still a very valuable piece of loot.

According to Thomas, after deciding to return to the Knight Continent to retire, he had spent his entire fortune to buy the Barrier Ring from an Official Wizard.

Though the price had been steep, for him, it was all worth it.

That was because, aside from the few Guardians of the Empire, no one on the Knight Continent could break through the Barrier Force Field’s Defense.

For someone like him, who planned to retire on the Knight Continent, it was a very reliable safeguard.

After putting on the Barrier Ring, Roy entered Chaos Square without hesitation, took the Memory Crystal Ball, and sat down in the center of the square.

He had no intention of immediately cultivating the Elemental Heart Meditation Method.

Until he mastered the twelve Will Runes of the Purgatory Dragon Meditation Method, he wouldn’t cultivate any other Meditation Technique.

What he wanted now was the Magic contained within the Elemental Heart Meditation Method.

Thomas had cast a total of seven Level Zero Spells.

The Magic Models and information for Scorching Beam, Fireball Technique, Shield Technique, and Elemental Missile were all recorded in the Elemental Heart Meditation Method.

As for Vine Technique, Acid Rain Technique, and Spiritual Shock, the Magic Scrolls for those three spells were hidden in Thomas’s residence in the Sal Imperial Capital.

After sitting down, Roy sent his Spiritual Power into the Memory Crystal Ball to study the Magic Models for Scorching Beam, Fireball Technique, Shield Technique, and Elemental Missile in detail.

The Magic Models for these four spells weren’t much more complex than the one for the Beast Taming Skill.

After a moment’s thought, Roy decided to start with the most famous of the bunch: the Fireball Technique.

He memorized the Magic Model for the Fireball Technique without much effort.

Because he was in Chaos Square, memorizing the Magic Model for the Fireball Technique was much easier than it had been for the Beast Taming Skill.

Once he was sure he had memorized every detail, Roy immediately began constructing the Magic Model for the Fireball Technique.

Failure!

Analyze the failure!

Failure!

Analyze the failure!

Failure!

Analyze the failure!

...

Just as when he had learned the Beast Taming Skill, his first few attempts predictably failed.

However, Roy wasn’t discouraged and continued trying to construct the Magic Model for the Fireball Technique.

After nine consecutive failures, he finally succeeded in constructing the Magic Model for the Fireball Technique.

Without a moment’s hesitation, he immediately channeled his Mana to activate the Magic Model.

The next second, a fist-sized, orange-red Fireball floated above his right hand.

At the same time, the Skill Proficiency Panel displayed the skill information for the Fireball Technique.

[Fireball Technique Skill Level +2]

[Fireball Technique: Tier One (2/1000)]

Roy inspected the orange-red Fireball with satisfaction, then casually flicked his wrist and threw it.

BOOM!

The orange-red Fireball crashed into the gray fog shrouding Chaos Square and exploded violently!

Just a second or two later, the gray fog returned to its original state, as if nothing had happened.

Calming himself, Roy began to memorize the Magic Model for Scorching Beam.

「A few hours later.」

Having mastered the four spells—Fireball Technique, Scorching Beam, Elemental Missile, and Shield Technique—and after cramming a good deal of common knowledge about the Wizarding World, a satisfied Roy left Chaos Square. Back in the forest, he turned to look at Thomas’s corpse.

Just as he had guessed, the scent of blood had attracted nearby wild animals.

Faced with a free meal, the local wildlife had not held back, gnawing on Thomas’s corpse until it was a gruesome sight.

Roy wasted no time. Humming a little tune from Blue Star, he started toward Rock Lion Castle, planning to find Catherine and celebrate properly.

’Although I’d already learned the Beast Taming Skill, it’s not an offensive or defensive type of Magic. But now, after mastering Magic like the Fireball Technique and Scorching Beam, I can finally fight using Magic just like other Wizard Apprentices.

Besides, the common knowledge about the Wizarding World recorded in the Elemental Heart Meditation Method, along with the information I pried out of Thomas, has finally told me where the Wizards of this world are.

I’d always assumed the reason no Wizards were active on this continent was that they lived on other ones.

But that wasn’t the case at all.

Whether it was this continent or any of the others, the only ones here were Level One Wizards and Wizard Apprentices who had returned from the Wizarding World to retire.’
