With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods
Chapter 1604: Empty reports
Though the barrier disappeared, the two of them didn’t step forward.
They just remained in the same spot as they waited to see what else would happen in this record room. They wanted to see if there were more defenses that were put in this place to protect the records.
However, it didn’t seem like anything else was going to happen.
Or at least nothing was going to happen if they kept staying in the same spot like this.
If there was anything here, it would only react if they were to make some kind of movement. It wasn’t as if the defenses would trigger on their own when there was no one to trigger them.
Since there were no traps that appeared as they stood there, it really didn’t seem like they had a choice but to move forward to see if there was anything that would happen.
Only that was when Ye Qing Huan finally stepped forward.
She wasn’t as confident when it came to matters that were related to the technology itself, but she was more than confident when it came to matters that were related to force. As long as she could use her power to block whatever came, it would be easy for her.
But in the end, there was nothing that appeared.
It seemed like the barrier was indeed the last wall of protection for this place.
So in the end, Lin Fan was able to move forward to look at the records that were on the shelves.
It was just that the moment he took out the first record, he realized that he had been a bit careless. After all, there was a glow that came from the token he had still been holding that went into the record itself.
"So there was one more trap that had been laid, but no one would have expected it to be on this..."
The amount of effort that it would take to put a trap on each one of these records was no doubt tremendous. Yet the fact that the token had reacted the moment that Lin Fan had touched the record showed that there was this trap that was on it.
It should be some kind of small array that was laid onto the record itself to protect it.
Since there was this array on the one that Lin Fan was holding, he didn’t doubt that it would be on the rest of them as well. Or else there would be no point in having this protective array on just this single record.
If that was the case, then Lin Fan really would be considered lucky or unlucky that he had been able to pick up the only one that had an array on it.
Which was why he actually reached out and grabbed another one of the records just in case. But the only thing that happened was that the same glow appeared around the token and went into the record.
One could say that he was being reckless by doing something like this, but Lin Fan had to make sure.
Once he was certain of this, he raised his hand as if he was telling Ye Qing Huan not to come forward and touch anything by accident. Though it wasn’t as if she couldn’t see what had happened and figure out what the situation was.
With the record in hand, Lin Fan opened it and started reading.
But the moment that he read what was written on it, his expression turned a bit ugly as he muttered, "What is this supposed to be?"
Ye Qing Huan looked over, but she found that there was something that was preventing her from reading it.
This wasn’t something that was done by Lin Fan, this was a defensive measure that had been placed on the records themselves. That was what had been deactivated when Lin Fan touched these records with the power of his token.
It was because he was holding the token in his hand right now that he was even able to read what was on the record. It was just that what he was reading wasn’t really that special.
The gist of it was, "We have no idea what we’re studying."
There were notes that were made on the item that this record was for, but it wasn’t detailed at all. In fact, there were many things about this item that were actually missing from the record itself.
From the looks of it, it seemed like this record was just a formality for them.
It was something that they had done just so there would be some kind of record in place after they stored the item.
After thinking about it, Lin Fan slowly realized that this wasn’t that strange in the first place.
"It’s not as if they were able to figure out these things or else the Dao Sect would have been able to create all kinds of things based on this technology. These were things that they were hoping to decipher and use, it doesn’t mean that they had actually deciphered it just because they’re storing it."
A part of Lin Fan felt a bit disappointed because of this, but it wasn’t as if this changed anything.
The other thing that he noticed was that at the end of the records, there were references that were made.
While he didn’t know exactly what these lines were referring to, he did have a guess.
"It’s most likely the experiments on the first and second floor."
Seeing these empty reports, he had a better idea of what the experiments on the first and second floor were for. It wasn’t what he had thought they were for previously, it was so that they could build up their foundation.
It was also the reason why the experiments had been so basic to begin with.
As Lin Fan remembered the experiments on the first floor, this theory of his became more and more likely.
What they had been doing was trying to figure out these things from the most basic parts, which was why they had run those basic experiments. Once they understood the basic knowledge behind these weapons, then they would be able to slowly figure out what they did and how to replicate it.
However, there was no doubt that this was a process that wasted a lot of time and resources. This was not something that one could even think of unless they had resources on the level of the Dao Sect.
Perhaps that was why the Dao Sect was willing to build this lab in the first place.
But in the end, all of the research that they had done had been in vain since they weren’t actually able to use it before they were destroyed in that disaster.
"Though thinking about it, it’s because of their thirst for knowledge like this that they landed in trouble in the first place. If they hadn’t stuck their heads where they shouldn’t have, then this never would have happened."
One could think of blaming the Dao Sect for this, but it wasn’t as if this actually solved anything.
So in the end, Lin Fan started reading through all of the records that were there.
He wasn’t hoping that he would find anything by going through these records, all he was hoping to do was to create a catalogue of all the items that were stored on this third floor. Lin Fan had already come to the decision to take these things with him when he left this place.
It wasn’t that he was taking these things away for personal reasons, it was that he was taking them away because they would be useful in the future.
It honestly wasn’t about taking that giant robot away or anything like that.
Once he finished cataloguing everything, Lin Fan turned back to look at Xiao Mu and started listing some things.
Xiao Mu was caught off guard at first, but then it realized what Lin Fan was doing. With a nod, it started taking down the notes that Lin Fan wanted it to take regarding the items that were stored on this third floor.
Xiao Mu had the memory to map out where each of these items were so that they could find them easily later. If needed, Xiao Mu could even create a map that listed where each of the items on this third floor were located.
Which was why Lin Fan did this in the first place.
But the other thing that Lin Fan did was also have Xiao Mu take notes on the references that were at the end of the reports. He wanted to see just how much the Dao Sect had been able to learn with those basic experiments.
Since they had already done the work, it would be a waste not to at least take a look and see if there was anything that he could figure out.
He hadn’t looked at them carefully before this because he didn’t know what meaning they had. But now that he knew that they were connected to the items that were on the third floor, he would certainly look more carefully to see how they were connected.
After all of that was done, that was when he came out of the room and went over to the next door.
This was another one of the doors that rejected Xiao Mu, which was why he was the one that came forward with the token in hand.
In the end, the same thing happened where using the token was enough to open the door.
