With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods
Chapter 1600: Top security
The only thing that really changed with this second floor was that the room was much bigger than the rooms on the first floor.
It seemed like the experiments were at least growing in size, which was why the rooms were getting bigger.
Only when it came to the contents of the experiment, it wasn’t that special. This was something that still relied on the most basic knowledge when it came to stuff like this.
So it really didn’t seem like there was a need for them to build an entire second floor for things like this.
"Well, I guess the main reason that they built this second floor was because of how big these experiments were." Lin Fan couldn’t help thinking to himself as he looked around the room.
When they first came into the room, it wasn’t as if the size of the room was the thing that they had been concerned about. The first thing that they were focused on was the experiment that was in the center of the room.
But now that they had time to settle and look around, they found that this room was almost five times bigger than the rooms downstairs. At the same time, the experiment itself was at least three times bigger than the previous experiments.
It wasn’t because they were doing anything special, it was just that this experiment was something that took this much space. Even if they wanted to use less space, it wasn’t possible since the items for the experiment took up that much space.
Seeing that there was nothing else in this room, they turned back around and started looking in the other rooms.
It was just that the other rooms were the same as the first room.
It wasn’t as if the experiments themselves were that complicated, it was just that all of these were things that took up a lot of space because of how big the equipment needed was.
So in the end, all of the rooms were much bigger than the rooms downstairs.
In fact, the biggest room in this place was almost twenty times bigger than one of the rooms downstairs. It was also the reason why the doors were so irregularly spread out in this corridor.
Based on this, it wasn’t hard to figure out just what this second floor was for.
The first floor was for normal research labs, the second floor was for irregular research labs that took far more space.
If that was the case, what would the third floor be for?
Thought that also depended on if there even was a third floor in the first place.
After they had finished looking through several rooms, it didn’t feel like there was anything else for them to search through. It seemed like they had already figured out the general idea of what the second floor was based on, so it felt like a waste to keep going through these rooms.
Which was why they were heading for the end of the second floor.
Lin Fan was hoping that there would be a records room just like the one that they had found at the end of the first floor. From there, they would be able to figure out if there was a third floor or if there was somewhere else that they could search.
In the end, it turned out that there was indeed such a thing.
However, it wasn’t the only thing that they found at the end of this second floor corridor.
Other than the records room, it seemed like there were several offices there as well.
These offices didn’t seem like they were just for a single person, it seemed like these offices were for multiple people to use with how things were left there. It was just that most of the things that should have been in these offices had already degraded away.
This pavilion was completely different from the other pavilions where there were ordinary items that were left in this place.
It seemed like these were the daily necessities of the researchers that had worked in this place, which just went to show the fervor that they had for their work. At the same time, it was enough to show just how seriously they took their research if they even lived in this place.
From the records, they could see that all of the experiments in this place were indeed just as basic as the first floor. But this time, it seemed like the records were also a bit different.
The records weren’t just about the experiments alone, there were also records on different theories and different possible experiments that they were preparing to run.
However, that wasn’t important.
The important part of these reports was the reference that was included in each of the reports.
They weren’t referring to anything specific in the report, they were just referring to a place that held the information that they were referring to. Which meant that there was indeed another room that was in this place.
This time, Lin Fan left searching the records room for the way up to Xiao Mu.
Xiao Mu had already seen what Lin Fan had done and had seen the mechanisms that had been used to hide the elevator room on the first floor. So it wasn’t as if Xiao Mu would have a problem finding the elevator room for the third floor on its own.
During this time, Lin Fan didn’t remain in the records room and watch over Xiao Mu.
Instead, he went back over to the offices to see if he could find anything.
Since there were offices here, one would think that this was the place where the authority to control this lab was. However, Lin Fan didn’t find anything of the sort in these offices.
In the end, it turned out that the offices that were on this second floor were only for the normal researchers. It was a place for them to gather their results and report them to the elder who acted as the manager here.
After the manager received those reports, they would bring them to the ones that made the decision in this lab.
The way that the lab had been structured seemed to be quite proper with how everything was properly reported and passed onto the ones that were in charge.
But there was one thing that Lin Fan did learn from searching this place.
There was also an office that had been specially assigned to the elder who acted as the manager on this floor and that had a few records that were left behind.
It spoke of the main office in this lab, which was located on the third floor.
"So it is on the third floor after all."
Not only were the most important experiments and results being kept there, there was also the office that held the authority over this lab. It seemed like the third floor really was the place that he had to go to get what he wanted.
Only when Lin Fan came back to the records room to see how far Xiao Mu had gotten, he couldn’t help being surprised by what he saw.
"What is going on here?"
Xiao Mu didn’t answer since it seemed like it was focused on something.
However, this room looked completely different from how it had looked when Lin Fan had left to search the offices. The shelves that had been properly aligned in this room were now in a complete mess.
It wasn’t that Xiao Mu was the one that had moved them, it was that these shelves had moved on their own in response to something.
Looking at what was hidden behind the shelves, it wasn’t hard to guess what had happened.
It was just that this left a question in Lin Fan’s mind.
"Was there really a need to deploy this kind of top grade security in this place?"
After all, this was just the entrance to the third floor and nothing more. It felt like a waste to deploy all of these defenses just to protect this place.
But after looking closely and thinking it through, Lin Fan realized something.
"It’s the Dao Sect we’re talking about, so this definitely wouldn’t be all that they have. Only if this is the level that’s prepared for just the entrance, it’s hard to imagine just what they would have prepared to protect the third floor where the research material is."
Not only would it be a problem to get there, it was likely that they wouldn’t be able to make it out alive at this rate.
Xiao Mu still seemed to be lost in thought with how it was focused on trying to open the door that was in front of it.
At the very least, Xiao Mu had been able to reveal the panel that led to the elevator which was just like the one on the first floor. So at least they knew that there was an elevator that was in this records room.
After thinking about it, Lin Fan decisively took out the token and placed a hand on Xiao Mu’s shoulder.
"What, what are you doing?" Xiao Mu seemed to have been caught off guard by this action from Lin Fan.
Lin Fan just calmly said, "Just use the power of the token, it might help."
Though he said this, it wasn’t as if he was actually confident in his words.
Xiao Mu didn’t respond right away as it looked at the hand that was placed on its shoulder.
But in the end, Xiao Mu closed its eyes again and focused on what it was doing.
