Chapter 1599: Still basic

After looking for a bit, Xiao Mu went to open up one of the doors.

But in the end, it didn’t seem like the one that Xiao Mu was looking for since there was still the same basic experiment that was behind this door. It was just like the other rooms that they had encountered before this.

However, it didn’t seem like Xiao Mu was giving up just because of this one failed attempt.

Xiao Mu continued to open up all of the different doors that were around them.

It was a good thing that they had decided to use the same password for all of the doors that were on this first floor or else it would have taken quite a bit of time to open all of them.

Only even with Xiao Mu opening all of these doors, it didn’t seem like there was anything of note here. It seemed like the only thing that was here were the experiments that were like the ones that they saw previously.

There should have been a way up to the second floor in this place since it was the end of the hall, but there didn’t seem to be anything here at all.

It was just that Xiao Mu didn’t believe that there wouldn’t be anything here, so it kept opening up the doors to see what it could find. It wanted to see if there really wasn’t a single thing in this place.

While this was happening, Lin Fan looked through the rooms that it did open.

He was trying to see if there was something that was hidden that they had missed.

Only it didn’t seem like he was able to find anything either.

It seemed like there wasn’t a single thing here that would be able to bring them up or down.

"Think, you must have missed something..."

While he was thinking this through, Lin Fan suddenly realized something and he turned around in the opposite direction. Instead of following Xiao Mu as it continued in the same direction, Lin Fan looked back in the direction of the record room.

After all, that was the only thing that had been different about this floor.

The rest of the floor was filled with rooms that were dedicated to experimentation, while that record room was the only room that was different.

By that logic, there should be something that was missed in that record room.

Seeing Lin Fan suddenly turn back like this, Ye Qing Huan went forward to stop Xiao Mu from opening any more doors.

While the two of them didn’t know what Lin Fan was planning to do, they at least knew that he wouldn’t have turned around like this for no reason. For him to suddenly stop and turn around like this, he must have figured something out.

When they came back to the records room, it didn’t seem like Lin Fan knew what he was doing. After all, it wasn’t as if there was anything in this room that seemed like it would be any different from what they had just seen.

The only thing that was in this room were the records of the experiments and the shelves that were being used to hold them.

But it didn’t seem like Lin Fan was looking at these shelves. Rather it looked like he was looking at the gaps between the shelves.

After looking for a while, it seemed like he found what he was looking for. However, it seemed like he didn’t actually know how to reach it since it seemed to be behind the shelf.

The other two didn’t know what he was doing when he started pulling the records on the shelf out one by one. It wasn’t as if he was pulling them out to look at them since he only pulled it out halfway before putting it back in.

Then all of a sudden, there was a sound that came from the shelf.

As they watched, the shelf itself started to turn as if it was revealing something. Though it didn’t seem to be much as there was only a panel that was on the wall.

This time, Lin Fan didn’t do anything.

This time, Lin Fan moved aside as he looked at Xiao Mu.

Xiao Mu naturally knew what Lin Fan expected from it and it had already started moving the moment that it saw this panel.

The same thing happened where just a single touch was enough for Xiao Mu to activate the panel.

The moment that this panel was activated, there was another sound that came from the same place. It was the wall that started to open up to reveal another room that was hidden within.

Only this wasn’t that big of a room.

There wasn’t even a single thing that seemed to be inside this room, this seemed like a room that was there as a kind of storage room. However, what kind of storage room would need to be hidden to this extent?

So no matter how one looked at it, it wouldn’t be a simple storage room.

It was Lin Fan who noticed that there was something here that seemed to be out of place. Though the main reason that he noticed this was because this was something similar to what he had seen in his past life.

"This entire thing is an elevator?"

He wanted to make sure that this was the case, but it wasn’t as if he could see the different parts that would have made this place an elevator. So the only thing that he could do was look to Xiao Mu to see if it could find anything out.

"This can bring us up to the second floor." Xiao Mu said after it interacted with the panel that was in this room.

Lin Fan already knew that this was the case and just said, "Do it."

Xiao Mu gave a nod before focusing on the panel again.

Instead of pressing a button on the panel like Lin Fan was used to, Xiao Mu was directly accessing the panel with its finger like with the other panels.

Though that wasn’t because this panel wasn’t accessible like in Lin Fan’s past life, it was more that they couldn’t actually read what each button would have done. It wasn’t a language issue, but rather an issue of durability.

This elevator wasn’t anything special, it was just a random elevator. Which was why it hadn’t been protected with anything special and the words had already been scrapped off the buttons.

Without knowing what each of the buttons did, it would have been a gamble to actually press anything on that panel. Which was why it was safer to have Xiao Mu directly access it since it could see everything from the backend.

Once Xiao Mu started the elevator, it actually caught Ye Qing Huan off guard.

When the two of them saw Ye Qing Huan jolting from the elevator starting to move, the two of them couldn’t help finding it a bit funny. After all, this was completely different from the way that she normally acted.

Of course, neither of them dared to actually show any of this on their faces since they knew what would happen if they actually showed this to Ye Qing Huan.

After the elevator ride, they arrived on the second floor and found...

"It’s the exact same..."

When Lin Fan thought about it, he realized that it was right for it to be the same.

In the first place, it wasn’t as if the second floor would be any different from the first floor. This was a place that was designed for experiments, so of course the rooms on the second floor would be the same as the rooms on the first floor.

Once they saw that it was the same, Xiao Mu didn’t hesitate to go to the closest door.

It was just that when Xiao Mu tried to open it, it found that the code that it entered was wrong.

Xiao Mu’s brows knit when the door refused to open, but Xiao Mu also didn’t give up as it started to hack the panel.

There was no response that came from the panel at first, but Lin Fan wasn’t worried about this since he knew what Xiao Mu was doing. It was the same thing as what Xiao Mu had done the first time.

Before Xiao Mu could brute force it, it had to remove the limited number of attempts that it got.

Which was why there was only silence that came from the panel.

After a while, the sounds started coming from the panel as the screen flashed with numbers. This was the process of Xiao Mu brute forcing the panel open by trying to guess the password.

It didn’t take long for Xiao Mu to find the password and open the door.

It was just that the moment the door opened, the two that understood what was happening inside were once again surprised by what they saw.

This place was a research lab, which meant that it was normal for there to be research projects inside of these rooms. It was just that the moment they saw the experiment that was inside the room, they couldn’t help shaking their heads with bitter smiles.

This experiment wasn’t that much more complicated than the ones that were on the first floor.

From the looks of it, there were even some parts that were even more simple than the experiments on the first floor.

"What kind of thing were they trying to accomplish here?"
