Chapter 1575: Can’t leave

With the array spirit on his side, Lin Fan was able to move around this place without any problems.

He had wanted to start with Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu at first, but the array spirit was the one that stopped him in the end.

"They’re close to breaking out of the illusion on their own, so there’s no need for you to worry about this."

Lin Fan couldn’t help narrowing his eyes to look at the array spirit when it said this.

"Why didn’t you say it sooner if this was the case?"

The array spirit revealed an awkward look and even looked away from Lin Fan as if he was afraid of him before saying, "Well, you didn’t have the authority before this. I just couldn’t reveal secrets about myself to random people."

A wry smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face, but it wasn’t as if he could deny what the array spirit was saying.

If he hadn’t threatened the array spirit in the first place, it wasn’t as if the array spirit would be helping him now. So in the end, he had no choice but to listen to the array spirit and go back to the second room.

Since he wasn’t able to do anything for Ye Qing Huan or Xiao Mu, he would help the Iron Fist King first.

"It seems like he’s almost out as well. It seems like what you did earlier did have an effect on him." The array spirit said as it looked at the Iron Fist King.

Lin Fan didn’t back down that easily this time as he narrowed his eyes to look at the array spirit, but the array spirit seemed prepared for this.

The array spirit just simply pointed at the Iron Fist King and there was this screen that appeared. On the screen was the Iron Fist King and around the Iron Fist King was the illusion that he was trapped in.

Surprisingly, it was Han Ba that was in front of the Iron Fist King.

Even though Han Ba kept punching the Iron Fist King, it didn’t seem like it was having any effect on him. Instead of fighting back, the Iron Fist King even seemed to be taking each of the blows as if he was trying to minimize the damage to Han Ba.

However, the look on his face looked like he was slowly running out of patience.

The one thing that Lin Fan could see was, "He really does care for his disciple." Then after a pause, he couldn’t help adding, "It’s almost like he’s taking care of a son."

From what he knew about the Iron Fist King, it wasn’t as if Han Ba was his only disciple. The Iron Fist King did have other disciples before Han Ba and it wasn’t as if he treated them any differently.

So for the Iron Fist King to treat Han Ba like this, even if it was inside of an illusion...

"Is there some kind of secret between them?"

Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling that he had uncovered some kind of secret that he shouldn’t know. After all, this was something that might be related to the Iron Fist King’s private life.

"But if it really is an illegitimate child..."

In the end, Lin Fan shook that thought out of his mind and focused on the illusion in front of him.

As expected from the impatient look on the Iron Fist King’s face, it didn’t seem like he was going to hold back anymore. Though that wasn’t the main reason that the Iron Fist King finally decided to make a move.

The main reason was because he realized that this was all just an illusion.

"It should be that reaction that came from when I overloaded the illusion array earlier." Lin Fan couldn’t help muttering to himself.

Though he didn’t say this soft enough that the array spirit missed it which resulted in the array spirit glaring at him because of this. In response to this, Lin Fan just casually tossed a candy to the array spirit that made that angry look disappear.

"Am I a bad person that bribes children with candy?" A part of Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling this way.

As the array spirit said, the Iron Fist King eventually woke up on his own.

Though before that happened, Lin Fan moved away from the Iron Fist King.

He had already experienced what happened when Ye Qing Huan came out of the illusion, so he wasn’t certain that it wouldn’t happen again. So it was better to move away from the Iron Fist King since he couldn’t take a single hit from the Iron Fist King.

Once the Iron Fist King’s eyes seemed clear, that was when he came over to greet him.

The Iron Fist King was surprised to see Lin Fan here, but he quickly accepted the situation and asked him what was happening.

Lin Fan gave a quick rundown of where they were before saying, "Let’s go to where the others are."

The Iron Fist King couldn’t help raising a brow seeing Lin Fan heading deeper, but it wasn’t as if he didn’t know why Lin Fan was confident in heading deeper. Lin Fan had already introduced the array spirit to him.

When he saw the elders from the other sects, the Iron Fist King couldn’t help narrowing his eyes to look at them. But in the end, he didn’t do anything to them since he knew what it would mean.

Even if he wanted to do something, he knew that this wasn’t the place to do it.

When they entered the fourth room, he turned back to Lin Fan to ask, "Why aren’t you helping them as well?"

Lin Fan looked at the array spirit who just pointed at the two of them and revealed the illusions that they were seeing.

Seeing this, the Iron Fist King fell silent and just observed the illusions that were in front of him.

Instead of looking at the illusions, Lin Fan was looking at the array spirit.

"What does it take to obtain the authority of this place?" Lin Fan asked all of a sudden.

The array spirit was caught off guard hearing this, but then he looked at the token that Lin Fan was holding before saying, "You have to obtain more qualifications to be the next sect master."

Lin Fan had already heard that the token that he was holding gave him the right to be the next sect master, but it wasn’t as if this meant anything to him. After all, even if he was the next sect master of the Dao Sect, it wasn’t as if there was a Dao Sect left to lead.

The only thing that he really cared about was inheriting the entirety of the Dao Sect, which was the right that came with being the sect master.

"So more authority?"

The array spirit didn’t answer right away as it looked like he was hesitating on whether to answer or not. But in the end, it seemed like the array spirit made up his mind.

Since he had already told Lin Fan this much, he would say everything else that he was able to say.

"Yes."

It was a very simple answer, but it was enough for Lin Fan.

Of course, he could also see that the array spirit was already pushing itself to give him this answer. So without a single thought, he took out a bunch of other snacks that he tossed over to the array spirit.

So far, he had only given candy to the array spirit, so this was a whole new world for it.

Lin Fan had been planning to save these things for the array spirit for later to make it easier to negotiate, but now was as good a time as ever.

"Do you want to leave this place?"

Perhaps this wasn’t possible for other array spirits, but this was a high grade array spirit for a high grade array from the Dao Sect.

But it seemed like it wasn’t that simple.

The array spirit looked at the token that was in Lin Fan’s hand and then shook his head to say, "It’s not time yet."

Lin Fan easily understood what the array spirit meant by this.

Even if the array spirit wanted to leave this place, he was still restrained by the rules of the Dao Sect.

But as if the array spirit felt that Lin Fan had misunderstood something, he added, "You were scary at first, but it turned out that you weren’t that bad of a person."

Lin Fan couldn’t help shaking his head with a faint smile.

This wasn’t exactly a compliment, but considering who it was coming from and the mental age of the array spirit...

When Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu came out of the illusion array, they were surprised to find the Iron Fist King watching over them. But seeing the array spirit that was with Lin Fan, they understood what happened.

"I’ll take the fifth test as well." Ye Qing Huan said in a firm voice.

Xiao Mu didn’t say anything, but the look on its face showed that it was thinking the same thing.

Lin Fan didn’t try to talk them out of this since it wasn’t as if it would be dangerous with the array spirit watching over them.

So in the end, it was only Lin Fan and the Iron Fist King that came out of the trial.

Their destination was the place for the Iron Fist King to recover his power.
