Chapter 1352: Finally getting a clue

Chapter 1352: Finally getting a clue

“Come on, let’s go.” Agnus woke Lin Fan up early in the morning.

Though he had been expecting to start early, this was actually earlier than Lin Fan had expected to start.

After all, the sun hadn’t even risen yet when Agnus woke him up.

It didn’t take Lin Fan long to get ready since he was a cultivator and his body was strong enough to last several days without sleeping. It was just that he was still rigid because he didn’t know what to expect.

The first thing that Agnus did was bring him to another manor.

There was no doubt that they were meeting with another noble and it seemed like it was being done in secret with how early this meeting was being held.

Not to mention that when they arrived at the manor, the guards that were outside didn’t hesitate to check them. The way that they checked them was quite strict as if they were afraid of letting even the slightest contraband in.

But in the end, they were still allowed in.

When they were shown in, Lin Fan couldn’t help being surprised by the one that was waiting for them.

This was a face that Lin Fan was familiar with since it was one of the faces that had tried to introduce his daughter to him yesterday. Though it seemed like he gave up in the end, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan had forgotten about this.

At the same time, it seemed like this noble was surprised that Lin Fan was here as well.

He couldn’t help raising a brow as he looked at Lin Fan, as if he was trying to figure out what Agnus meant to do by bringing Lin Fan along like this. There was even a moment as if he thought that Lin Fan had been brought along as some kind of offering.

Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling a slight chill run down his spine when the noble looked at him like this, but he was able to suppress that feeling in the end.

In the end, it seemed like the noble no longer cared about him as he turned his attention back to Agnus.

After all, it was Agnus who was the person that he wanted to meet today.

After they were fully in the room, the noble gestured to the seats in front of him and said, “Let’s sit and talk.”

Agnus gave a nod before sitting down in one of the seats that was there.

Lin Fan didn’t know what to do at first, but then Agnus waved her hand at him as if she was gesturing to him to sit down.

Both Lin Fan and the noble were surprised to see this.

Lin Fan thought that he was just tagging along to hear what they were discussing and had been planning on finding a spot on the side. But now Agnus was telling him to sit down, which meant that he would be a part of the main discussion.

As for the noble, he was the one that was the most surprised since he had been certain that Lin Fan was just the accessory.

Only now it seemed like his guess was wrong.

The noble couldn’t help thinking about what the real dynamic of the Laver Empire was that this son in law of the royal family was being treated like this. Perhaps Lin Fan had far more influence than he originally thought.

This was certainly something that had to be looked into.

“Thank you for coming to this meeting.” The noble recovered and looked at Agnus with a smile as he said this.

Agnus just gave a simple nod without saying anything, but the way that she acted made it clear what her stance was. She was basically acting as if she was just here to listen rather than to say anything.

Though she acted this way, it wasn’t as if the noble seemed to mind.

That was just the difference between them after all.

The Laver Empire was one of the biggest empires on this magic continent.

Actually, after it had devoured parts of the Kalos Empire after their civil war, it could be said that it was now the largest empire. So there were many that were wary of the Laver Empire, but there were those that also respected the Laver Empire because of this.

The Laver Empire had the might that suited being known as the largest empire after all, so it wasn’t as if anyone would mess with them.

The kingdom that this noble came from was nothing more than a medium sized kingdom.

Between a noble that came from the Laver Empire, one of the largest empires on the magic continent and a noble that came from a medium sized kingdom, it was clear which one had more status.

So that was why this noble was fine being treated like this.

With a wave of his hand, there were a few guards that left this room and came back with something that they placed on the table.

Lin Fan looked at it along with Agnus, but he could tell that there was something strange about these things. It was something that only he was able to sense since it was something that only he was familiar with.

Though Agnus looked at these swords that had been brought out, the only thing that she could see was that they were cut quite cleanly. It was as if whatever had cut these swords had quite the sharpness to it that they weren’t able to resist at all.

However, Lin Fan was able to see something else that was there since there were faint traces that were left on this sword.

This was the first clue that he had obtained since coming to this magic continent.

It was only natural that he wouldn’t give up this chance, so he looked at Agnus as if he was asking her to ask more about this.

Agnus had naturally been waiting for a response from Lin Fan since that was the main reason that she had brought him here. He was able to see things that she couldn’t since he was from that place.

“What happened?” Agnus asked in a calm voice.

The noble didn’t answer right away since he had noticed something strange happening between Lin Fan and Agnus. He wasn’t able to see everything, but he could tell that the relationship between the two of them wasn’t simple.

Which was why he couldn’t help wondering just who Lin Fan was…

He knew that Lin Fan was the son in law of the royal family of the Laver Empire and the man of the princess, but this was just too strange. It seemed like there was something more to all of this that he wasn’t able to see.

When he came back to his senses though, he said, “The ones that attacked us used a strange kind of magic that we had never seen before. It was similar to wind magic, but we had never experienced this kind of wind magic before. In fact, it didn’t even feel like there was any mana that was used for this spell. It was as if they had just gathered energy out of nowhere and released it.”

After a pause, the noble added, “It was almost like the legendary wind slashes…”

There was a trace of respect that was in his voice, but it wasn’t respect for the strength of the attackers. Rather, it was respect for this technique that he referred to as wind slash.

Lin Fan could easily tell that this noble was also a knight, which meant that he would have trained with the sword. For him to act this way, it was clear that this wind slash was a technique that was highly respected among knights.

Just from the name alone, he could already guess what this wind slash was.

Though in this case, what the enemies used wasn’t the wind slash that this noble was thinking of. The wind slash that they used was something that was created with a different source of energy.

It was most likely spiritual energy.

“So the ones that caused a mess on this magic continent used sword cultivation techniques and used sword energy to attack them.” Lin Fan thought to himself before slowly coming to a conclusion.

“It could be the Mount Hua Sword Sect, but it’s unlikely. After all, sword energy is just too obvious that even they wouldn’t do something like this. So the only explanation is that someone is trying to frame it as the Mount Hua Sword Sect.”

But the more that he thought about it, the more that he thought that it might actually be possible.

After all, he had seen the disciples from the Mount Hua Sword Sect and from his experience, they didn’t exactly seem like the smartest. It seemed like they only had swords in their minds and didn’t think much about other things.

So it was possible that these attackers were from the Mount Hua Sword Sect.

Still, just this alone wasn’t enough information for Lin Fan to act on and he still needed to gather more information before he could come to a conclusion.

Though he was slowly starting to understand what Agnus was doing by bringing him to these meetings.

It was clear that the real conference that was being held were these small secret meetings that were taking place. If Lin Fan wanted the information that he needed, then he would just have to keep attending them with Agnus.

It seemed that there was quite a bit that he didn’t know about the world of nobles on the magic continent.
