Chapter 1350: Gathering of nations
Chapter 1350: Gathering of nations
These past few days have been quite something else for Lin Fan.
Even though he had long graduated from school, it felt like he was right back in school.
Since he had been invited to come along with the delegation that was being sent to the conference, Haku had arranged something for him.
After all, going along meant that he would be representing the Laver Empire to a certain extent. Every move that he made would be a representation of the Laver Empire.
If he were to make a mistake, it would be the Laver Empire that would suffer.
As such, it was only natural that they would do what they could to prevent this from happening.
So over the past few days, Lin Fan had been trapped in different lessons.
The first and most obvious one was of course a lesson on etiquette.
Though Lin Fan knew a few things from his own experience, it was completely different from proper etiquette that nobles were taught. Many of the things that he thought was proper etiquette weren’t correct at all.
After all, those were things that commoners thought nobles did.
It wasn’t as if they were things that were actually done.
So in the end, there were quite a few things that he had to learn when it came to etiquette.
Other than this lesson, there were other lessons that he had been signed up for.
The second most important lesson was one on geography and history.
Though Lin Fan had looked into this on his own before, it wasn’t as if there was much information that was out there.
The society of the magic continent was at the level of a medieval society, which meant that there was a low level of knowledge that was available to the public.
Even if there were things like books and such, it wasn’t as if those would contain knowledge that was that detailed. It wasn’t as if the commoners would need knowledge like that in the first place.
As for nobles, there wasn’t much that they needed to know either.
So the information that he was being taught now was quite different from what he had been able to learn on his own.
The best way to describe it was that it was much more detailed than what he had learned on his own.
So it wasn’t as if it was bad since the more that he knew, the more that Lin Fan could do.
Other than this history lesson, the other lesson that Lin Fan took was a dance lesson. Or rather, it was better to say that this was the lesson that he had been forced to take since Haku insisted on it.
It was quite obvious what she had been planning to do with this, but it turned out that this backfired on her in the end.
That was because Rokuko insisted on going to the lesson with Lin Fan.
Since the gathering of nations would be one where nobles of different countries came together, it was only natural that they would try to introduce themselves to each other as well.
When it came to introducing, it was only natural that they would try to create alliances through marriage.
That was why Haku had been planning to secretly push Lin Fan into situations like this. The easiest way to do so was to have him attend a ball and have them dance together to build a relationship.
But there was nothing that Haku could do against Rokuko.
She was the one person that Haku was helpless against, so she could only watch angrily as Rokuko danced with Lin Fan during those lessons.
Though it wasn’t as if Rokuko was heading to the gathering of nations either.
There was no way that Haku would have allowed her to go to a place like that since there was no telling what would happen there. Even if it wasn’t considered that dangerous because this was just a gathering to discuss something, it wasn’t as if Haku would allow it.
She just wouldn’t allow anyone to approach Rokuko no matter who they were.
As for Lin Fan, she really didn’t care about what happened to him.
Though it wasn’t as if Lin Fan was the only one that was sent.
Even if Lin Fan was a noble of the Laver Empire, his status was far from being high enough to represent the Laver Empire.
The one that was being sent to take care of this was Agnus.
It seemed like Haku did care about this if she was sending Agnus, but Lin Fan didn’t feel that it was that simple.
Still, it wasn’t bad for him that Agnus was the one that came with him.
The time spent traveling was very short since as one of the strongest empires, the Laver Empire had access to many resources. At the same time, this was an important mission that they had been sent on, so they were able to use most of those resources.
That included magic teleportation arrays that sent them to their destination.
Though it seemed like they weren’t the only ones that were taking these magic teleportation arrays.
After arriving, Lin Fan could see that there were several different arrays that had been set up around this area. Looking around, he could see that an entire block of this city had been set up for this.
This city was actually a neutral city state that had been chosen for this gathering of nations since it wouldn’t be right for a single nation to host this.
As for why this city was able to remain a neutral city state, it was all because of the one that ruled over this city. Though at the same time, it was only because of the person that ruled over this city that it made sense that there were this many teleportation arrays set up.
The one that ruled over this city was actually a sage, one of the few sages that were out there. But this person was a sage nonetheless and had the power that only a sage possessed.
Which was why this city was a place that no one dared to tread on.
Once he had finished looking at the different arrays, Lin Fan started to look at the different people that were coming out of the arrays.
Most of them were dressed quite fancy, though there were a few that didn’t have the same dress code. It seemed like those people didn’t care about putting on airs or they were just simply wearing clothes that fit their occupation.
There were quite a few that were wearing wizard robes after all.
On this continent that specialized in magic, it only made sense that there were quite a few that were well versed in magic.
It was the same with the one that ruled over this city.
Though the one thing that Lin Fan did notice was that Haku had been right about something.
There were quite a few that had brought their children along with them.
There were a few sons that had been brought along, but it seemed like most of them were daughters that accompanied their parents. They were all dressed up as if they were here for something special.
After they came out of these arrays, they started looking around as if they were searching for something specific.
It didn’t take long for them to notice Lin Fan.
His appearance was one that was quite attractive to these young daughters of these nobles. After all, he was a handsome young man that was younger than the other sons that had been brought along.
But the main reason that they were interested in him was that he had to be someone of decent status if he was brought along to this place.
It meant that they would be able to enjoy quite the life with him if they were able to get close to him.
So it didn’t take long before Lin Fan became everyone’s target even though this wasn’t what he wanted.
Though it made sense since if they couldn’t be with someone that was young and capable, then they would have no choice but to settle with someone that was much older than them.
For these young ladies that were still in their prime, this wasn’t what they wanted to do.
With how everyone was looking at him, it was like he was a piece of meat that was surrounded by predators.
After they had been given some time to settle after coming out of the teleportation array, Agnus was greeted by someone from the city. It seemed like they were here to take them directly to the site of the conference.
Lin Fan was surprised by this since he didn’t think that they would be this quick about this situation. He thought that they would take some time before they could meet and discuss this.
So for them to rush things like this, it seemed that things were quite serious.
Or that was what he thought until he found what they really meant.
“All this for a banquet?”
This was a banquet that was held to welcome all these nobles that came from their respective countries.
It seemed that these nobles had a compulsion to show off even though matters were serious.
Or perhaps this meant that it wasn’t as serious as Lin Fan thought?
Regardless of what it was, he didn’t really want to waste time like this since he wanted to get to the bottom of this matter between the two continents.
The longer that this waited, the more likely that war was going to break out after all.
