With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods

Chapter 1349: By leaps and bounds

Chapter 1349: By leaps and bounds

It had been a while since Lin Fan had been in this place, but it had completely changed from when he had been here last.

When he came here last time, this place was nothing more than a simple estate.

But now…it was transformed into a large research facility.

After obtaining the funding that came with going into national defense, Duke Rosewood didn’t hesitate at all to put the money that he earned right back into his research.

In fact, it seemed like he might have spent a bit too much with how developed this place was.

There was a part of Lin Fan that wondered if Duke Rosewood even forgot that he should have set aside a portion for him. After all, Lin Fan was a major investor in his business and the one that had provided the funds to get him off the ground.

So it only made sense that Lin Fan would receive a portion of the money that he made selling the Iron Legion.

As if she could guess what he was thinking, Rokuko said, “I’ve made sure that he sends the money on time and if he needs more money, I’ve always made sure that he tells me first before I give him the money. If it doesn’t sound practical, then I didn’t approve the request.”

Lin Fan couldn’t help revealing a wry smile when he heard this.

He had left Rokuko in charge of matters on the magic continent, but it seemed like she had taken things quite seriously with how she acted.

It wasn’t as if he was worried since he knew that she had a lot of knowledge on this matter.

In fact, it could even be said that she had plenty of research material to draw on since there was plenty of material to draw from when it came to this topic. She could always just exchange for what she needed from the Dungeon Master System.

That system had been affected by Lin Fan’s previous world and had a lot of things that had to do with mechs in it.

With how much of a NEET she was previously, it only made sense that she had done plenty of research on this matter.

Though it seemed like Rokuko’s personality had developed a bit differently with how she interacted more and more with Yue Lan and the others. It seemed like she took her responsibilities quite strictly now.

Lin Fan would have liked for more imagination when it came to this, but still it wasn’t as if she had done anything wrong.

So in the end, he just lowered his expectations a bit as he prepared to enter the research facility.

Though the moment that he actually entered, he couldn’t help raising them once more. Or it could be said that he hadn’t been given a choice as he was forced to raise his expectations because of what he saw.

In the lobby of this research facility, there was something that he had dreamed of seeing since he was young. This was even in his past life when he saw those shows on TV.

The Iron Legion were armour that were the same size as people, so they didn’t look that impressive until they demonstrated what they were capable of.

Only the one that was currently in the lobby was a set that one could tell was impressive no matter how they looked at it. After all, this was a set of armour that was the same size as a building.

It was no wonder Duke Rosewood had invested this much into building such a large facility.

It was only a facility of this size that was able to hold something like this.

However, Lin Fan could tell that it wasn’t something that was operational yet.

Since he had invested in Duke Rosewood, it was only natural that he would learn a bit about what these suits could do. He could see from just the shape of it that there was nothing that was on the inside.

It seemed like this was nothing more than a model of what could come, but that was exciting at the same time. After all, it meant that Duke Rosewood had started thinking about this and was starting to develop a suit of this size.

After coming back to his senses, Lin Fan found that Rokuko was looking at him with a smile.

He thought that she had become serious during this time, but it seemed like there was a part of her that was the same. The smile on her face showed that she was also excited about this large suit and what was to come.

It didn’t take long for Duke Rosewood to arrive.

After all, he had already put out a notice to everyone that if Rokuko or Lin Fan came to visit, that he should be called for.

When he arrived, he quickly pulled Lin Fan and Rokuko to the side.

The way that he did this was as if he was embarrassed by them and wanted to hide them away, but Lin Fan knew that this wasn’t the case. After all, he could see the look that was in Duke Rosewood’s eyes.

The way that he looked at them was as if there was something that he wanted to show them, but this thing wasn’t something that could be shown to others.

After thinking about the large suit that was in the lobby, Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling excited again.

The path that Duke Rosewood led them down was quite the twisting one and it seemed like it was quite the hidden one too. There were all kinds of checks that had to be undertaken before they finally reached the room that Duke Rosewood wanted to show them.

But when they arrived in that room, Lin Fan immediately understood why they had to go through all of these checks.

If anyone found out about what was hidden here, there certainly would have been a large commotion.

“How far have you gotten?” Lin Fan asked while he was still looking up at the thing that was above him.

This time, Duke Rosewood revealed an awkward smile before saying, “Not that far. I’ve only gotten basic movement out of this thing and it still takes a lot of mana to power it, but I’m slowly working on cutting this down.”

Lin Fan wasn’t disappointed when he heard this since he knew that this wouldn’t be an easy task to accomplish.

Making something of this size move hadn’t been possible in his past life, but to make something this big move with magic…

Thinking about it, there should be something like this on the technologically advanced continent, but Lin Fan chose not to think about that since he didn’t have access to it. It was better to think about what he currently had access to.

“It’s good that you’ve already gotten this far, so don’t worry about it.” Lin Fan said in an encouraging voice.

However, it didn’t seem like Duke Rosewood was encouraged by this as he looked disappointed. It seemed like he wasn’t happy with the progress that he had currently made and it was as if he felt like he had let Lin Fan down.

Even though he really hadn’t.

Lin Fan’s expectations were even dragged up because of how far Duke Rosewood had gotten with this.

Seeing that he wasn’t able to cheer Duke Rosewood up with this, Lin Fan changed the topic by asking, “Is there anything else that you’ve developed during this time?”

Duke Rosewood still looked a bit disappointed with himself, but he also gave a nod to show that he had been able to develop something. There was a part of him that also perked up since he was excited to show what he had developed.

In the end, they had to go through several other checks before they were able to reach his other research lab.

Lin Fan didn’t mind this since it was good that Duke Rosewood was being cautious.

The things that they developed would certainly have a large impact on this magic continent. It could even be considered a changing of the times since it would change how wars would be fought in the future.

So the less people that knew about this, the better.

Though when he saw the weapons that Duke Rosewood developed, Lin Fan couldn’t help being shocked.

He slowly turned to look at Duke Rosewood and asked, “How many people know about this?”

Duke Rosewood was surprised by this question, but he still answered it honestly, “Other than the few of us in this room, there are at most five others that know about this.”

Lin Fan gave a nod of approval hearing this.

Duke Rosewood really had been quite thorough with this matter, which Lin Fan was very glad to hear.

It meant that this would be very useful as a secret weapon.

“Make sure that no one knows about this for now.”

Though Duke Rosewood trusted Lin Fan, there was still a trace of worry that was in his eyes. After all, he was still a noble of the Laver Empire and he had a contract with the central government.

Keeping secrets like this…

“I’ll make sure that they know about this, so you don’t need to worry about that.”

Duke Rosewood looked much more relieved hearing this since Lin Fan was the one that contacted them when they signed the contract, so he knew that Lin Fan’s connection with the central government wasn’t simple.

No, even before that, there was the princess that was here with them.

“It seems like I have another card to play now.” Lin Fan thought to himself in an excited tone.
