Chapter 1289: Avoiding him

Chapter 1289: Avoiding him

Once the second round was over, there wasn’t a third round.

Or it could be said that there wasn’t a third round for Lin Fan.

The explanation behind it was that there were some that hadn’t put on a satisfying performance and that there was doubt of their qualifications. Since there were still too many, they were chosen to fight in the third round.

Though the ones that were chosen to fight weren’t really that weak either.

There were only a few like Lin Fan who had been chosen to progress into the next round directly.

It could even be said that he had received a bye because of the power that he demonstrated.

The funniest part of all of this was the fact that this was something that had been decided by the elders who acted as referees. It was clear that they also knew that it would be too short if they were to let Lin Fan compete with the others.

As such, they had no choice but to separate Lin Fan from them.

While he watched them fight, he couldn’t help being disappointed.

It really didn’t seem like there was anyone that was worthy of his attention.

There was one more thing that Lin Fan had been planning to do during this sect assessment, but it was a small thing compared to the other things that he was planning to do.

He had been planning to recruit anyone that he found was worth recruiting.

After all, if he were to establish his own faction in the Heavenly Demon Sect, he would need people to follow him. If he didn’t have people following him, then he wouldn’t be able to properly establish himself.

Or it was better to say that he wouldn’t have had anyone that would be able to help him defend the territory that he obtained.

In the Heavenly Demon Sect, it was all about establishing a place for oneself.

So the most important thing was for him to find people that execute the things that he wanted to do.

After watching for a bit, Lin Fan didn’t seem interested in watching the rest of the fights.

He didn’t feel like there was anything for him to gain from watching them.

Instead, he turned to the ones that had gotten the bye just like him.

It would have been strange if Lin Fan was the only one that got the bye, which was why the elders had also given byes to the others that were favoured. They didn’t want them in the same round as Lin Fan anymore or even in the tournament anymore just in case something happened.

Those people that were favoured, there was a reason that they were favoured.

It was because they had received special training since they were special disciples.

Some of them were even the disciples of the elders that were present as referees.

It was only natural that they couldn’t watch as their disciples were being treated like this by Lin Fan.

Since Lin Fan had shown this unnatural power, they were able to make an exception.

Though even the elders were surprised how easily they had been able to push this matter through.

There was no resistance at all from the higher ups of the Heavenly Demon Sect, as if this was something that they had already expected to happen.

But since there was no resistance, there wasn’t anything to question. If they weren’t going to say anything, it was only natural that the elders wouldn’t say anything either.

When Lin Fan went to talk to those inner sect disciples, what happened was…

“I’m sorry, I’m a bit busy right now.”

That was if they were in the mood to actually talk to him.

If they weren’t in the mood, they didn’t even bother acknowledging Lin Fan and walked away from him.

Based on the way that they all acted, it was clear that they were avoiding Lin Fan.

Lin Fan didn’t even need to think to guess why they were acting this way, but it really went against what he had planned to do.

Still, it wasn’t as if he could force them to talk to him since he was planning on using this chance to recruit them. If he forced them to talk to him, it would make it harder for him to actually say anything else to them.

All Lin Fan could do was reveal a bitter smile when saw how everyone avoided him.

After a while, the final few fights were over.

Even though there were only less than 1%, no it was more like 0.01% of all the disciples that joined this sect assessment that passed this first round, there were still over ten thousand disciples that had passed.

That just went to show how many rounds there had been and how many disciples there were in the first place.

Not all of the rounds had the same number of participants as Lin Fan’s did, some of them had even more people since there wasn’t an inner sect disciple that was a part of that group.

Since they were all outer sect disciples, it wasn’t as if anyone had expected anything from them and it would make more sense for more of them to be eliminated.

But still, this was more than enough to show just how much influence and power that the Heavenly Demon Sect had if they had this many disciples in the first place.

The Heavenly Demon Sect truly was the top demonic sect and one of the Five Great Sects.

After these rounds were over, the first day of the sect assessment was also over.

Since everyone had been through some fierce fights, it was time for them to rest up before the second round was held tomorrow.

Though in Lin Fan’s case, there really was no need for him to rest up since he didn’t even break a sweat when facing these other disciples.

Every single round he was in, it had only taken a simple flick of the hand to send all of his opponents flying out of the ring. It would have been strange if he actually broke a sweat when facing these people that he easily took care of.

But still, in the spirit of fairness, they had to let them rest.

Though it was more that the second round had to be prepared.

When Lin Fan was leaving, he could see the way that the other disciples and even the elders who were supposed to be impartial referees were looking at him. It was clear that all of them were planning something for tomorrow.

The disciples would be planning something to deal with Lin Fan.

The elders would be planning something to restrain Lin Fan.

It was as if he had put a large target on his back by showing off his power today.

But it wasn’t as if this was a bad thing.

If he had a target on his back, it meant that he would be the one that everyone targeted.

If they all targeted him, it meant that he would be able to show off his power and beat them into submission. As long as they were beaten into submission, Lin Fan was confident that he would be able to get them to follow him in the end.

So what he was waiting for now was for them to come at him.

When the next day came…

“Where are they?” Lin Fan said to himself with a bitter smile on his face.

The second round wasn’t that special, it was quite the generic trial that had been chosen which made Lin Fan a bit disappointed.

The trial was that a special zone had been prepared with treasures for them to seek out and they would have to keep these treasures until the end. The ones that obtained the treasures would have to make sure to keep them safe so that no one took these treasures from them.

If they were taken, then they would count towards the point total of the one that took them.

In short, it was another form of battle royale, but there were different rules this time.

These rules really didn’t benefit Lin Fan at all since there was no doubt that he would be the one that would be targeted if he collected the treasures.

But he found that not a single person came looking for him.

With his spiritual senses, he was able to find many of the treasures in the area around him.

However, there wasn’t a single person that came trying to steal these treasures from him. He even waited for them to come so that he would be able to take care of them all.

But in the end, there wasn’t a single person that was here.

No matter how Lin Fan tried looking for people, he found that he would never be able to find anyone.

It wasn’t that he wasn’t able to find any traces of them, it was just that any traces of these people that he did find resulted in them running away from him.

They didn’t even bother hiding the fact that they were running away, they full sprinted away from him. There were those that didn’t even hesitate to use movement techniques as they ran.

It went to show just how far they went to avoid Lin Fan.

The way that they treated him was as if he was some kind of monster…

But there was nothing that Lin Fan could do when they went all out in avoiding him like this.

It seemed like they had made their decision.
