Chapter 1892 1892: Cap 1888: Demonic Chaos Part 5
Pov Mavor:
I was feeling those emotions more and more, to the point where I could no longer differentiate between my own and the curse’s.
The metal was also twisting inside my body. I could feel this curse constantly trying to influence my mind. I didn’t dare let my guard down.
“Urak, haven’t you found them yet?” (me)
“The planet is still… SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH!!!” (Urak)
“Damn it!” (Urak)
Unlike me, Urak seemed to be having more trouble controlling his curse. His face was pale, his hair disheveled, his eyes glazed and red with dark circles under them. His Aura was even more unstable than mine.
“Urak, ignore the voices. As long as you do, you’ll still be yourself. But if you listen to those voices, the corrosion will be quick.” (me)
“I know, damn it! I know!” (Urak)
Sigh
Urak will resist less than I did. The moment his mind is taken, his body and Soul follow. There is no escape. The strongest thing in us has always been our mind.
“The planet is there, but it’s isolated. If I were still connected to the Flow of Laws, I could…” (Urak)
“We can’t do that; it would be the same as surrendering ourselves.” (me)
“We’re not doing exactly that anymore! Damn it!!!” (Urak)
“At least we can try to negotiate something here, do something that will bring us some benefit, but if that Goddess takes us completely, I dare not think what she will do.” (me)
That Goddess has always been a source of concern, a variable in our perfect formula, a constant of nature that we tried to subscribe to with our Laws, but whose mere existence confirmed the failure of our logic.
We couldn’t accept such a thing, we couldn’t accept that it existed, but we also couldn’t destroy the Goddess. We tried and never succeeded. She returned after centuries in another place, even stronger. We could only set her aside and impose a ban on Ascended people interacting with this Goddess.
“(I never thought I’d seek you for help…)” (me)
The frustration and anger weren’t easy to bear. I was doing something I truly didn’t want to do, but no matter how much I thought, I couldn’t avoid a different outcome that would allow me to continue existing.
“My Lady, we detected a portal. It’s far from us, but it was clearly made using Divine power, but our Laws are integrated.” (Valius)
“This shouldn’t be possible…” (me)
“Show me!” (Urak)
Inside the ship, most of the Ascended were recovering to some degree, but they were certainly in a better situation than we were.
Soon, a holographic screen shows a portal from which three individuals emerge. One Demon seemed irritated; the readings on him reveal traces of the two Anomalous powers.
The second was a young man who really caught my attention. He had white skin and long brown hair. His body was slender, and for some reason, all too familiar, his readings are showing an absurd number of Laws.
The third individual was Nala. Her aura and presence have changed significantly, thus diverging from the information we have about her, but her appearance still bears a 79% resemblance, and with her association being precisely that Goddess, her identity is now confirmed.
Nala’s readings are the strangest, Divine Power.
“The three of them are part of that Goddess’s group. It seems she was moving more than our investigations suggested.” (Me)
“Forget her, WHO IS HE!?” (Urak)
Urak’s eyes were glued to the brown-haired man. I don’t understand why. Even if he possesses several Laws, this isn’t out of the ordinary considering that Goddess possesses all the Ascendant Laws in existence.
The strangest thing is that Celestina is emanating Divine power. This isn’t normal. If she’s become a Goddess, it means that False Goddess’s power must be even greater. This alone makes the situation more dangerous.
“What are we going to do…?” (Me)
“I need to talk to him.” (Urak)
Urak still seemed to see only that brown-haired young man. She seems to only see him, but I don’t understand why.
“What are your orders, sir?” (Valius)
“Let’s go to them, help support Urak.” (Me)
“I can handle myself!” (Urak)
“For now, yes, but he’s already at his limit, so let him help you.” (Me)
“Unfortunately… I have to admit I’m not at my best…” (Urak)
“Let me help you, my Lady.” (Valius)
Valius was one of the least injured Ascendants; in fact, he was the one who received the fewest physical attacks, but it was clear he’d received a powerful curse that destroyed his senses. It took him days to regain consciousness one by one.
“<Spirit Law: Spatial Portal>” (Valius)
Soon, four Law Runes formed a portal through which the three of us passed. Urak passed, holding Valius’s shoulders, and I followed behind.
I was facing them and outside the ship when I emerged from the portal. We were only a few dozen meters apart, but seeing that brown-haired young man up close only heightened the sense of familiarity I felt.
Urak, who had passed before me, had her eyes fixed on him for some reason. It was clear she felt the same way I did; in fact, it might have been something even stronger for her.
“I’m Davoth, why are you here!?” (Davoth)
“Davoth!” (Nala)
“I’ll handle this, don’t interfere!” (Davoth)
“(Hostility, it’s clear he doesn’t like us, but there are many reasons for that.)” (me)
“Do we want to see Urd?” (me)
“I didn’t ask who you want to see, I asked why you’re here!” (Davoth)
“You bastard…” (Urak)
“Urak!” (me)
“…” (Urak)
“We’ve come to make a deal, but we’ll only do it with Urd.” (me)
“It seems they’re desperate. Maybe it’s because Vecna has become a servant of one of the Entities, or maybe it’s the realization of their weakness after the beating they received from the Avatar of Curse?” (Davoth)
“No, this is more personal, so it must be because of the thing writhing inside your bodies… fear, you’re afraid… hahahaha…” (Davoth)
“Mavor! I’m going to attack this bastard!” (Urak)
“Let him say whatever he wants, his goal is clearly to provoke us, just let him talk to himself.” (me)
It was clear that unlike the other two, this one held much more hostility toward us. Trying to reason with him or engage in a verbal argument with him would be counterproductive, to say the least. Urak would never fall for something like that if his mind weren’t so exhausted.
“Do you speak for Urd? Because if not, then your opinion matters little to us.” (I)
“You are already…” (Davoth)
“Lord Davoth, my Lady asked you not to be carried away by your emotions.” (???)
“…” (Davoth)
That young man’s words suddenly awakened an old memory of mine. His tone and even his manner of speaking reminded me so much of Vecna’s in the past, back when we first met. Suddenly, I see Urak’s eyes welling up as a tear falls. His wings tremble, and he seems ready to launch himself forward. I don’t know why he’s acting like this.
“Let’s concentrate…” (Nala)
“Mavor!!” (Urak)
“…” (me)
Crack Crack Crack Crack
Crack Crack Crack
Crack Crack
Crack
Suddenly, Urak flapped her wings, the universe distorting around her. Her speed was too fast as she moved closer to them, who were also moving away, pushed away by the brown-haired young man. Six pairs of wings that weren’t there formed behind her back as she pushed Nala and the man named Davoth back.
Before I could understand what was happening, I heard the sound of something breaking around us. The moment I turned around, I saw space being shattered, the Laws around us in chaotic flux as a large, colossal gray feathered wing passed by, carrying the ship we had emerged from before reaching out to Valius and me, who were pulled by the wingtip into the rift in space.
I couldn’t even fight it; all I knew was that a strong pressure pinned me in place before I was violently pulled. This lasted for several seconds before the pressure disappeared, and before I knew it, I was sitting on the ground, my body covered in sweat. The ship with the other Ascended was leaning against a nearby mountain. Even Valius was lying next to me, his face pale.
“(What was that…?)” (me)
I looked around and soon saw someone land near me. When I looked at him, I realized he was a humanoid, almost three meters tall, with six pairs of large gray wings and strange markings all over his body.
His hair was dark white, almost gray, and his eyes were purple. His body was slightly muscular, and he wore no clothing on his upper body. Two strange energies swirled around him, clashing with each other, but they didn’t seem to bother him.
The strangest thing about him was that, just like that brown-haired young man from before, this being in front of me seemed all too familiar, and I was starting to think this thing inside me was messing with my head.
“Who are you…?” (Me)
He looked at me strangely, as if my question didn’t make sense. I then looked at his hands, wings, and body before looking back at me, as if he understood my earlier question.
“It’s me… Vecna.” (Vecna?)
