A month of special training has changed Wuwu a lot.

Chen Wen and the others had just arrived in Wuwu’s territory when Wuwu, who was rolling around in a pile of snow, keenly heard their voices.

Wuwu emerged from the snowpile and slowly made its way toward where the sound was coming from.

It didn’t reveal itself directly but instead used the forest for cover, circling around to the vicinity of Chen Wen and his group.

"Wuwu? Wuwu?"

Mira called out Wuwu’s name.

Hearing the familiar voice, Wuwu sprang out from its hiding spot and let out a loud, resonant roar at the crowd.

It has to be said that Chen Wen’s intimidation training was quite effective.

When Wuwu jumped out and roared, a few bodyguards carrying boxes were startled, and the boxes suddenly dropped into the snow.

Mira was less affected; she had complete trust in Wuwu.

Thus, upon hearing the sound, Mira immediately looked toward Wuwu and excitedly opened her arms.

Seeing the familiar gesture, Wuwu let out another roar and then charged toward Mira.

This made the four bodyguards behind shiver in fear, with one instinctively reaching for his bulging waist.

Chen Wen raised a hand to stop him and said, "Don’t be nervous; it doesn’t mean any harm."

As Chen Wen spoke, Wuwu suddenly braked, stopping four or five meters away from Mira.

It raised its head, looking at Mira in excitement.

Mira quickly walked a few steps and embraced Wuwu.

Seeing Mira seemed to want to talk to Wuwu, Chen Wen gestured for the four bodyguards to follow him and put the boxes near Wuwu’s nest.

The four bodyguards hesitated a bit.

However, seeing Wuwu’s gentle demeanor, they felt some relief and left two behind while the other two left with Chen Wen.

The boxes were placed near Wuwu’s nest.

The two bodyguards seemed to know what was inside and immediately opened them.

Chen Wen peeked in; there was some food and some electronic equipment.

"What is this..."

Chen Wen curiously asked, "Is it a locator? Or some other equipment?"

The bodyguard installing the electronic equipment nodded: "It has a locating function; to be precise, it’s infrared monitoring, used to detect any anomalies around."

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen understood.

These must be the items provided by the animal protection experts Mira invited, essentially a sophisticated infrared-triggered camera.

It’s a wildlife monitoring device that uses passive infrared sensors to detect temperature changes between warm-blooded animals and their environment, automatically triggering snapshots.

After the installation, Chen Wen said, "Let’s go back and check out what’s happening. Wuwu doesn’t really like strangers lingering too long in its camp now."

The two bodyguards nodded and promptly followed Chen Wen back.

When they found Wuwu again, Mira was still holding onto Wuwu, rubbing her head against its soft fur.

Seeing Chen Wen coming closer, Mira stopped her actions and stood up reservedly.

She asked, "Wuwu’s condition is great. I’m really happy, thank you."

"You’re welcome."

Chen Wen said, "You must have more reasons for coming this time than just seeing Wuwu, right?"

Mira nodded and had a bodyguard bring out a drone, then said, "I previously had some experts in animal protection, along with wildlife rehabilitation experts from animal rescue centers, make time to assess Wuwu’s situation, so I brought some equipment."

After understanding Mira’s purpose, Chen Wen then let her start recording.

What Mira wanted to record was footage of Wuwu hunting.

"As for hunting, it can give it a try. Over the past month, I feel like Wuwu has practiced adequately."

Chen Wen said, looking at Wuwu as it licked its paws.

Sensing Chen Wen’s gaze, Wuwu immediately perked up and roared twice: "I feel really good today!"

Chen Wen nodded while Mira curiously watched Wuwu, seemingly surprised at how it seemed to understand their conversation.

As the drone lifted off, Wuwu began its first solo hunt.

...

At the main camp.

Chen Wen and Mira watched the drone’s screen with some tension.

Chen Wen actually had confidence in Wuwu but feared Wuwu might face issues since it was unfamiliar with hunting for the first time.

Mira, on the other hand, was worried Wuwu might get injured.

After all, many predators can get hurt from the prey’s counterattacks during hunts, even severely.

While both were somewhat anxious, Wuwu made a move.

...

In the forest.

Wuwu stopped beside a bush.

It stared at something next to the bush - a heap of dark dung, grainy in appearance, possibly feces of some herbivorous animal.

Most importantly, the snow around the dung had melted a bit, making it appear relatively fresh.

Wuwu sniffed the surroundings, sensing it was the smell of prey.

Casually, it swiped at the dung with its paw, covering it, and began tracking.

Its tracking skills were learned from Chen Wen and the lynx.

Hence, when tracking prey, Wuwu’s demeanor was akin to a lynx.

The learning wasn’t in vain.

Chen Wen internally gave Wuwu a thumbs-up and continued to observe its actions.

About a few minutes later, Wuwu seemed to have sensed something.

It slowly halted, crouching down its body.

Noticing Wuwu’s move, Chen Wen, who had trained it for several days, immediately caught Wuwu’s intent: "Raise the drone higher; its noise might interfere with its hunting. This action signifies that Wuwu is aware the prey is nearby and is masking its presence."

Upon hearing this, the drone-operating bodyguard promptly raised the drone.

Mira, meanwhile, nervously clutched her hands, eyes filled with excitement and anticipation.

Soon, as the drone ascended, Wuwu adjusted its actions.

It stood up, slowly advancing forward.

Along the way, Wuwu constantly gauged the wind direction, always positioning itself downwind so its scent wouldn’t be detected by the prey.

About five minutes later, a group of animals appeared before Wuwu.

Chen Wen took a careful look, instinctively saying, "Elk, wow, these guys are quite large!"

It was a small herd of elk, looking like there were around four or five.

Wuwu crouched down, seemingly targeting this group of elk, though Chen Wen felt a bit worried.

Elks are large and can counterattack; the antlers of the male elk are powerful tools against carnivores.

If Wuwu doesn’t handle this well, it could easily get hurt by the elks.

Although Chen Wen was confident in what he taught, it was, after all, Wuwu’s first hunt.

Compared to Chen Wen’s slight concern, the others showed completely distrustful expressions.

Even Mira felt skeptical; she didn’t think Wuwu could complete a hunt with large prey on its first trial, and she was worried about Wuwu possibly getting hurt.

For a moment, everyone was a bit anxious.

But Chen Wen thought for a bit and finally said, "Let’s keep watching; Wuwu has learned a lot. Even if its hunt fails, it can certainly retreat unscathed since elk tend not to pursue predators after a successful counterattack."

Upon hearing this, Mira hesitated for a moment, but in the end, she chose to trust Chen Wen.
