Chapter 1127 - 146: Hunting

  • Next Chapter

In the forest.

After spotting the Elk, Wuwu began to execute its plan.

It found a dense bush downwind, hid behind it, and then started its patient wait and observation.

About a minute later, Wuwu realized that this group of Elk would not move anytime soon.

Thus, it started the first step of its hunt—advancing!

Wuwu’s movements were very gentle, it almost crept along the ground, slowly approaching the Elk.

The movements faintly resembled a lynx, after all, Wuwu had learned these hunting techniques from following the lynx.

After taking a few steps, Wuwu stopped and observed the Elk’s actions.

They were focused on foraging in the snow, unaware of Wuwu getting closer.

Soon, Wuwu continued to approach boldly.

At this point, Wuwu’s movements changed again, moving in an S pattern to ensure it stayed hidden behind the bushes at all times.

The scene amazed the onlookers.

Chen Wen nodded with satisfaction; this was what he taught, and it seemed Wuwu had learned well.

Though forest animals generally have poor eyesight, being nearsighted, they can still clearly see moving objects and a tiger in the snow.

So, caution was necessary.

Wuwu’s caution was strikingly similar to Chen Wen’s.

Under the gaze of the onlookers, Wuwu quickly reached within twenty meters of the Elk.

This distance was actually enough for Wuwu to launch an attack.

Moreover, the Elk seemed to sense something, stopping their eating and stood like statues in the snow, only their ears twitching occasionally as if listening for surrounding sounds.

Wuwu did not rashly attack; it crouched in the snow, slowly waiting for the Elk to relax.

This patience earned Chen Wen’s praise inwardly.

Among the qualities that an excellent hunter must possess, patience was one of them!

Another five minutes passed like this.

The spectators were getting a bit impatient when the Elk slowly lowered their guard, with the watchful Elk stepping aside, while the rest resumed their eating.

Seeing this, Wuwu became excited and initiated the next step—hunting.

Just as Wuwu stood up and took a step forward.

A horizontal stick lying beneath the snow was stepped on by Wuwu, and its weight snapped the stick, making a cracking sound.

This sound alarmed the Elk.

The Elk’s hearing was strong, and given Wuwu’s close proximity, the cracking sound was enough to alert them.

The watchful Elk immediately pinpointed the direction of the sound and almost instantly spotted Wuwu.

This Elk let out a sharp call.

The other Elk, hearing the warning, also began to flee as fast as they could.

It’s over, the hunt is going to fail!

The drone operator couldn’t help but think.

The others had similar thoughts and sighed as well.

Mira, unaware of what startled the herd, let out a sigh of relief, saying, "That was already impressive..."

"Don’t rush to conclusions yet."

Chen Wen interrupted Mira, eyes fixed on the screen.

The hunt wasn’t over!

Once discovered, Wuwu made a decisive move—strike!

Wuwu’s front paws stirred up a mass of snow, splattering it, obstructing the Elk’s vision.

This tactic was effective!

The Elk initially intending to evade Wuwu’s attack route hesitated; with their sight obscured, they could no longer locate Wuwu precisely.

Wuwu disregarded all this; in the moment the Elk were hindered, it targeted the smallest Elk in the group and attacked.

This was a hunting technique taught by Chen Wen and the lynx—ignore the strong prey, go for the weak, sick, and elderly!

By human moral standards, it might seem inappropriate, but it’s one of the most natural hunting methods.

Not only does it increase success rates, but it also allows herbivore populations to flourish.

Once Wuwu confirmed its target, it focused solely on that Elk, leaping straightforwardly, with snow flurries, panic-stricken fleeing Elk, and the vibrant tiger amidst the snow.

The vivid colors intertwined, making Wuwu’s hunt quite spectacular.

Soon, under Chen Wen’s watchful gaze, Wuwu reached its target.

It raised its paw, reaching for its prey’s body.

Sharp claws extended, the curved claws immediately tore through the prey’s skin, firmly gripping its muscle and fur.

The force applied to the prey’s body pressed it straight to the ground.

Among the fleeing Elk, a male Elk, seeing Wuwu had caught one of their members, turned around, lowered its head, attempting to intimidate Wuwu with its sharp antlers.

But Wuwu, already well-trained under Chen Wen’s intimidation lessons, wasn’t fazed by this move.

It now feared nothing; not deer, not even a pack of wolves, Wuwu would dare to face!

Wuwu lifted its head, pinning its prey, letting out a roar similar to a mighty V8 engine: Roar!

This roar, even through the drone, startled everyone.

Hua Yun was particularly astonished, looking at Chen Wen; she felt this roar was eerily similar to Chen Wen’s roar that had scared off a wolf pack before!

As for the Elk facing Wuwu’s roar, it was even more overwhelmed.

Facing Wuwu, akin to the Mountain Lord, it instantly panicked, decisively turning tail and fleeing.

After driving away the Elk, Wuwu adeptly opened its mouth, found the prey’s throat, and bit down.

Hot blood sprayed out, spattering on the snowy ground like little red plums.

Wuwu waited for its prey’s struggles to progressively diminish, until they ceased completely.

Only then did it release its mouth, licking the blood off its lips.

The hunt was perfectly accomplished!

Chen Wen nodded slightly.

This hunt was rather good; despite unexpected events and a bit of raw execution, overall, it was decent.

Moreover, Wuwu’s performance made Chen Wen confident it could survive in the wild on its own.

This skilled hunting could entirely sustain its food gathering.

Compared to the calm Chen Wen, the others were somewhat shocked.

Especially Mira and her group.

They were the most aware of Wuwu’s previous displays, where in Mira’s villa, this tiger was completely like a big cat, not even as assertive as a cat.

Mira also had a husky, and sometimes that husky could even bully Wuwu.

But now, if Wuwu were to confront that husky, it would undoubtedly be a nine-to-one match.

Wuwu would be ninety percent full, and the husky would be instantly overwhelmed!
