Wilderness Survival with Druid System
Chapter 1119: Maintenance
Arriving at Fred’s shelter.
Since everyone had already discussed the quantity of stored items in each shelter, and everyone except Roland’s side was fully loaded, Chen Wen didn’t relocate any supplies from Fred’s side.
He used the undamaged parts of the shelter and some scattered stones to press down the supplies, securing them in place.
After handling the supplies, Chen Wen went to each person to explain what had just happened and helped them check the integrity of their shelters.
Once he confirmed that the other shelters were intact, Chen Wen returned to Roland’s side with peace of mind.
After giving Roland a couple of instructions, Chen Wen went back to his own shelter.
The crisis was resolved by Chen Wen.
Behind the screen.
Oleg saw what Chen Wen did and felt relieved.
Chen Wen is reliable.
With simple handling, he stabilized the situation.
“Looks like we can finally have some peace tonight.”
Oleg said, sitting back in his chair.
The assistant beside him nodded repeatedly and sat up straight.
…
A night passed.
In the morning, the snowstorm abated slightly.
Chen Wen crawled out of his shelter, checked on the other shelters, and took the opportunity to join Adam for a meal.
After breakfast, fully protected, Chen Wen went to the side of Fred’s shelter.
He had a rough idea of the shelter’s condition last night, but seeing it in the morning still left Chen Wen somewhat helpless.
The wall next to the fireplace had a large hole knocked out by Fred. Just the repair alone would take several days to complete, not to mention the atrocious weather conditions.
Chen Wen scratched his head, thought for a long time, and ultimately decided to abandon repairing Fred’s shelter.
At least for the next few days, it would not be repaired.
He would let Fred and Roland squeeze together. In this weather, repairing a shelter is beyond even me!
Chen Wen thought and quickly returned to Roland’s side to inform them of his decision.
Roland and Fred naturally had no objections.
The thought of Chen Wen working outside in such weather was indeed asking too much.
The two of them huddling in one shelter wasn’t much of an issue. Two grown men, nothing inconvenient about it.
After giving the two some instructions, Chen Wen went back to his own shelter.
With nothing to do, Roland and Fred started talking about building the shelters.
“Looks like having six shelters built was a wise decision by Chen Wen.”
Fred said, “In such special circumstances, at least we have an emergency plan.”
Roland nodded, agreeing with Fred’s words: “Yeah, if it weren’t for the six shelters, our food would be exposed to the ice and snow. Even if we stayed in the shelters, we’d be unconsciously anxious about the safety of the food, and we wouldn’t be as relaxed as we are now.”
Fred hummed in agreement, and both felt a bit sentimental.
The more they survived with Chen Wen, the more they felt his strength.
“Speaking of which, which challenge is Chen Wen planning to tackle next?”
Fred asked.
Roland shook his head: “I don’t know, haven’t heard him say anything, but according to my estimation, after some rest, Chen Wen will definitely choose the nearest survival challenge.”
“The nearest one?”
Fred thought about it and said: “The Sea Extreme Challenge? No, that’s unlikely. If Chen Wen really chooses that, I feel their association won’t let him try it.”
Roland nodded. The Sea Extreme Challenge indeed couldn’t be done alone.
He said: “Then it’s the Heat Extreme Challenge or the Beast Extreme Challenge, one in the Sahara and one in the Maasai Mara. Unfortunately, both these challenges require solo survival.”
Upon hearing this, Fred said helplessly: “Looks like we’ll have to avoid surviving with Chen Wen this time.”
Roland nodded slightly.
Even though they were familiar with Chen Wen, in solo survival situations, if he didn’t know who they were and attacked, they wouldn’t stand a chance.
So to be safe, avoiding surviving with Chen Wen is undoubtedly the best choice.
“But talking about those things is really thinking too far ahead. We should focus on the immediate matters at hand.”
Roland said: “In the afternoon, if the blizzard shows signs of weakening, we’ll go out and start shoveling snow, and at the same time, clear the snow off the shelter roofs.”
Roland, familiar with the situation, knew very well that snow accumulation on the shelter roof could often negatively impact the shelter.
So, it must be cleared in time.
If not cleared promptly and the roof gets damaged, there would be nowhere to cry.
Fred nodded, understanding the necessity of clearing the roof snow.
The two quickly agreed on an action plan for the afternoon.
…
Back at Chen Wen’s place.
After returning to his shelter, he found himself idle.
Several animals were resting inside the shelter, but Chen Wen hadn’t stored too many supplies there, so the shelter wasn’t really crowded.
The two Wolf Minks occupied the ground in front of the fireplace, whispering to each other.
The three birds of prey were at a distance from the fireplace, avoiding the flames.
They were also conversing amongst themselves.
Chen Wen listened for a bit; the birds seemed to be discussing taking a stroll together after the blizzard ended.
Ignoring the leisurely animals, Chen Wen used [Shared Vision] to check on Wuwu the Northeast Tiger and the lynx.
Wuwu was still curled up in its own shelter.
Chen Wen had left some food for Wuwu yesterday, ensuring it was well-fed, so he wasn’t too worried about it.
The lynx briefly went outside the cave when the wind was calm.
It was unclear if it was looking for food or just strolling.
But everything seemed safe; the lynx was naturally a cautious and careful predator.
Chen Wen wasn’t too concerned about the lynx’s safety.
After checking on the lynx and Wuwu, Chen Wen lay back down in his shelter, waiting for the blizzard to end.
…
In the afternoon, as expected, the blizzard calmed down to a more moderate state.
Taking advantage of this time, everyone hurriedly left their shelters to clear the snow around the camp.
With the heavy snow brought by the blizzard, the snow in the camp was several dozen centimeters deep, even close to a meter.
Chen Wen used a spear to clean the snow off the top of the shelter, then had the Golden Eagle and others check the condition of the roof.
At the other shelters, he also had the Golden Eagle scout around.
And sure enough, the Golden Eagle noticed some cracks forming on Adam’s roof.
The soil on top might have weathered or cracked apart from drying.
Noticing the problem, Chen Wen quickly used hot water mixed with leftover clay to do some emergency repairs on Adam’s roof.
