Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 1117: Fred's Problem

  • Next Chapter

After hearing that a blizzard might be approaching, everyone’s expressions changed slightly.

Previously, when they lived alone in the wilderness, they all encountered blizzards.

That blizzard left a deep impression on everyone, and even some contestants were eliminated due to the blizzard.

After pondering for a moment, Adam said, “I feel like we don’t need to discuss the authenticity of the news anymore; what we need to consider now is how to get through this blizzard.”

Listening to Adam’s words, everyone nodded one after another.

The source of Chen Wen’s information is definitely reliable, and they all trust it.

Chen Wen and Roland, who have experience successfully dealing with blizzards, started discussing the things they currently lack.

Roland said, “I feel there’s not much we are missing; we have enough food, a warm shelter, and plenty of firewood, so getting through the blizzard won’t be a problem.”

Chen Wen nodded, agreeing with Roland’s statement.

However, he still cautiously said, “But we also need to be prepared. Fred and Gaston, gather some stones or other heavy objects to secure the things that are prone to collapse around the camp. Adam, you and Roland check around the camp to see if there’s any work that needs doing. Hua Yun, check our food supplies from before. As for me, if you need anything, come find me; I’ll act as a firefighter.”

Everyone agreed with Chen Wen’s arrangement and started working after breakfast.

Chen Wen first went over to Northeast Tiger Wuwu to inform it of the news and reinforced its nest with stones.

The lynx was not there.

Chen Wen asked Wuwu about the whereabouts of the lynx; Wuwu wasn’t very sure, only knew it seemed to have gone out hunting.

This made Chen Wen somewhat worried.

He checked the lynx’s location and found it had somehow gone to the lake’s edge and seemed to still be active near the ice surface.

Chen Wen thought for a moment, then returned to the camp to have the Golden Eagle check the lynx’s position and urged the lynx to be prepared.

Back at the camp.

Chen Wen also inspected the camp thoroughly, particularly the food storage room and some food stored outdoors.

Everyone worked together to reinforce the storage room and moved the food from outside indoors.

Everything was prepared.

By noon, the temperature began to rise unusually, the sky thickened with clouds, and continued to press down.

Dark clouds enveloped the land, indicating that the blizzard was imminent!

Throughout the afternoon, Chen Wen and the others anxiously awaited the blizzard’s arrival, but it never came.

Until dusk, Chen Wen saw the sky turn a dull and uniform lead-gray.

He notified everyone, “Be careful; I feel tonight is likely going to be when the blizzard hits!”

Hearing this, everyone became alert.

After dinner, they extinguished the campfire, and moved the food and pots inside the house.

Chen Wen directed the animals to go to their shelters, leaving only Wuwu and the lynx active outside.

Wuwu, however, had already gone early into its shelter, and the lynx found a very sturdy cave to crawl into.

Chen Wen inspected again, finally breathed a sigh of relief, sat on the bed, and began to rest.

Night falls.

The wind slowly began to whip up and grew increasingly fierce.

At the camp, those not yet asleep heard the wind howling outside.

But the sturdy stone shelter became their strongest defense.

The wind outside couldn’t affect them.

This allowed everyone to finally relax.

In this type of not overly severe blizzard, a sturdy stone shelter could resolve most problems.

Where Chen Wen maintains stability.

On Lee Min-jun’s side.

Their wooden shelter faced its test!

Although they anticipated the weather change, their wood-built, moss-sealed shelter faced considerable impact from the wind.

Despite Lee Min-jun and others seeking a wind-sheltered place in advance, one of their shelters was still destroyed by the storm.

One of the shelters became drafty from all sides, and its roof was gradually lifted by the increasingly strong winds.

The two contestants seeking refuge from the wind and snow in this shelter were immediately affected.

Fortunately, since three people had been eliminated from their team, the number of shelters was still sufficient.

So the two quickly went to another contestant’s shelter to take cover.

One of them couldn’t help but say, “That shelter was mainly built by those two Indians, they’re really unreliable!”

Lee Min-jun shook his head and didn’t comment.

Indians can be reliable too, like Vikram whom he collaborated with before, but most Indian people were somewhat unreliable.

He comforted, “Let’s not talk about that now; rest well, and after the blizzard passes tomorrow, I’ll help you repair the shelter.”

The two nodded, and didn’t continue speaking.

…

Back at Chen Wen’s side.

Before sleeping, he checked the situation outside; the blizzard indeed arrived, but the intensity was average, far less severe than the one encountered at Great Slave Lake.

Meanwhile, Chen Wen checked the conditions of Wuwu and the lynx.

One was snuggled in its nest without venturing outside, and the other lay deep within the cave, completely unaffected.

Those two were safe too.

Seeing this, Chen Wen felt much more at ease.

He slept peacefully.

While Chen Wen was asleep, the blizzard outside gradually intensified.

The wind increasingly strong, wind power rising.

Fred on this side.

Resting with closed eyes, he suddenly felt something.

Fred sat up, his tall frame hunching, head pressed against the shelter’s roof, feeling the roof’s condition.

Soon, Fred’s expression changed.

He felt the cold air.

No, more precisely cold wind; a somewhat fierce wind infiltrated the shelter from an unknown direction.

This discovery made Fred’s forehead sweat.

He continued pressing against the roof, seeking the leak’s location.

Just a few minutes later.

Fred found a leak, checked under the fire’s glow; it seemed the clay used to reinforce the roof had flaked off due to long-term neglect, affecting the roof’s seal.

The wind came through this leak.

Finding the cause, Fred began devising a solution.

He took an unused piece of clothing, dampened it with water, and blocked the leak.

Just when Fred thought the issue was resolved.

Suddenly, the damp clothing seemed to freeze.

But once frozen, it weighed more than the adhesive force, and without warning, the clothing fell directly.

Just falling, Fred didn’t think it was an issue.

But the problem was when the clothing fell, it dislodged some clay, making the leak bigger!

Now Fred panicked.
