"Xiaoyang, you’re new here, so you should spend more time observing and learning. It’s good to have confidence, and I’ll give you all the support I can."

Yang Wei immediately said, "Thank you, sir! Thank you, sir."

Dan Biao continued, "Xiaoyang, I called you in today because there are a few things I’d like to get your opinion on."

"What do you think about doing in-store live streaming sales events?"

Yang Wei was a sycophant. He quickly realized the company was probably thinking about doing live stream sales from within the stores, a practice many companies had already adopted.

He quickly replied, "Sir, that’s a great idea! It’s purely incremental. As long as it doesn’t affect our offline sales, all the online revenue is just extra."

"Oh? So, Xiaoyang, that means you’re very supportive of this initiative?"

Yang Wei immediately declared his position, "Sir, of course I support it. I don’t know what the other teams think, but I definitely want to do it."

Dan Biao hadn’t expected Yang Wei to accept the job without knowing anything about it. To think that President Li’s directive would find its first opening with the Airex team.

Some time ago, an in-store live stream by Airex generated over a million in sales. This led Li Yang to demand that all teams have every store stream for at least four hours a day, with staff using their free time to do it. Dan Biao had discussed this with several operations managers. They felt the store staff’s workload was already heavy enough and their pay was low. Complaints were already widespread, and they feared that adding another task would trigger a massive wave of resignations. As a result, he had been dragging his feet on implementing it.

Today, Li Yang remembered the matter and summoned him to ask about its progress. Dan Biao fobbed him off, claiming they were conducting pre-stream training and would start soon. This earned him a scolding from Li Yang for always dragging his feet on everything. Li Yang demanded to see the stores live streaming by next week; otherwise, Dan Biao would be disciplined.

He was anxiously trying to figure out which team to start with. The other teams, like Zhang Li’s "Erke" and NLB teams, were in no state to take on new tasks. Given their current situation, it was a miracle they hadn’t all quit already. Next month, when salaries were paid, the employees would discover the "no penalty" Zhang Li had promised regarding their performance-bet agreement was a lie. Things would definitely erupt into chaos, and the NLB team was headed for a complete collapse. As for Zhang Li’s plan to use this time to build up his staff, he had lost more people than he’d hired so far.

With Li Yang now demanding in-store live streams, the best approach was to start with the most stable team. Currently, that was the Airex team. If Yang Hui were still around, Dan Biao wouldn’t even dare to bring it up.

But now with Yang Wei in charge, an idea began to form in his mind. He was worried, though. Yang Wei was new, and saddling him with so much pressure right from the start might be too much for him to handle. He never expected Yang Wei to agree instantly. ’It seems that while this guy might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, he’s genuinely eager to make his mark,’ he thought.

"Xiaoyang, I knew I wasn’t wrong about you. I’m entrusting this heavy responsibility to the Airex team first. I’ll also report this to President Li. He most admires people who dare to take on a challenge."

As if shot up with adrenaline, Yang Wei said excitedly, "Thank you, President Dan! I have the kind of personality that loves a challenge. Please continue to hold me to a strict standard in the future, sirs."

Dan Biao nodded in approval. "You can get back to work. Oh, and by the way, don’t interfere with the Airex team’s management until the handover from Yang Hui is complete."

Yang Wei was a bit confused by this. "Sir, he’s on his way out. I’m worried his heart won’t be in his work during his final days. I was inspecting the store at Xinyue Square today and saw him wandering around with a beautiful woman. How can he manage the store properly like that?"

Dan Biao’s lips twitched. ’Fuck, isn’t that completely normal for Yang Hui?’ he thought. ’What the hell are you bitching about?’

His expression turned cold. "Just do as I say. You’re not being evaluated this month, so don’t worry about it."

Sensing that President Dan was a little displeased, Yang Wei couldn’t figure out what he had said wrong. ’I’m just trying to do what’s best for the company,’ he thought.

He decided to stop overthinking it. He had a dinner to get to tonight with his former colleagues from his old company. At the thought of it, his mood brightened again. ’If they knew I was working at Futong Commerce now, and that my salary is higher than it was at Huasheng Trading Co., Ltd., they’d be green with envy. I guess you could call this returning home in glory.’

In Li Yang’s office, Han Chao was reporting on recent expansion progress. As for the Yida Department Store Qingzhou Pedestrian Street Branch, since Li Yang had already spoken with Wang Qing, the store was being quite cooperative. The blueprints were even ready-made—they had already been prepared for Yanghe Commerce.

Han Chao spread the blueprints for Li Yang to see. The location was indeed street-facing, which was great. It should have been a happy occasion, but compared to the NLB and Zen stores next door, it was nothing. Those two storefronts were over 12 meters wide with square, regular layouts. Their own spot, however, had a frontage of less than 8 meters and was L-shaped. It was obviously just the leftover scraps from the other two properties.

Li Yang glanced at Han Chao, remembering the bullshit he’d spouted about how great his relationship with Wang Qing was, and how he’d secured this location purely through his own influence. But one look at this layout made him lose all face.

"Damn it! It’s all because the operations department is useless; otherwise, the stores next door would be ours. This space didn’t even exist originally. Wang Qing did me a favor and carved it out from the adjacent properties."

Han Chao quickly laid on the flattery, but inwardly, he was sneering. ’Fuck, do you even believe your own bullshit? Those other two stores have standard dimensions. The only reason no one wanted this space is because the layout sucks, it’s full of pillars, and the customer flow is a nightmare to design. And you say Wang Qing did you a favor? This is clearly just you picking up someone else’s leftovers.’
