Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?

Chapter 324 - 220: Why is Everyone Higher Than Me?

Futong Trading Company

Zhu Jing looked at Yang Wei, who sat across from her, and wondered if he had a screw loose. He had just joined the company but hadn’t bothered to attend training properly. That morning, he had taken Ji Kun on store visits, after which Ji Kun had complained up a storm about him in their private group chat. He called Yang Wei a cheapskate and said he didn’t know a damn thing but still loved to lecture. In short, the appraisal was scathing.

Ji Kun was a very talkative person, but Zhu Jing had never seen him so disgusted with any manager before.

Now, sitting opposite him, Zhu Jing suddenly felt a sense of disgust herself. She said coolly, "Manager Yang, what did you need me for?"

Yang Wei flashed what he thought was a suave smile. "I’ve heard that Zhu Jing is the most beautiful woman in our company. Seeing you today, I can confirm it’s true."

She furrowed her brow. ’That’s not something a new manager should say.’ She replied irritably, "Whoever said that must be blind and hasn’t seen anything of the world."

Her attitude displeased Yang Wei, who felt his authority as a manager had been challenged. But beautiful women had their privileges; a man’s tolerance for a pretty face was far greater than one might imagine. Yang Wei continued, "The main reason I asked you here today is because I heard you’re planning to resign. As you know, I’ve just taken over this team, and I want to work with everyone to make it great."

Just as he said that, Zhu Jing suddenly cut him off. "Manager Yang, this team was already great to begin with."

’The implication in Yang Wei’s words is that the team is in a bad state, and he’s here to fix it. But for me, this team’s achievements are all because of Yang Hui. This guy waltzes in, declares that things weren’t good before... He’s not just trying to steal credit, he’s slinging mud at his predecessor. How could I possibly stand for that?’

Yang Wei faltered. He hadn’t expected her to be so protective of Yang Hui. He chuckled. "Well, there’s always room for improvement. I hope you’ll stay so we can take this team to new heights together."

Zhu Jing scoffed. ’Take it to new heights? We’ll be lucky if the team doesn’t fall apart.’

"I’m sorry, but I don’t change my mind once I’ve made a decision. If there’s nothing else, I need to get back to work."

Yang Wei’s expression turned sour. "You young people are just too impulsive. Quitting is easy, but finding another suitable job will be hard. The market is terrible right now, and the salary definitely won’t be as high as it is here. I suggest you be more cautious. Why go out there just to get beaten down?"

RING RING~

Zhu Jing picked up her phone and glanced at the screen. It was a call from the HR department at Yanghe Commerce. Her resignation procedures at Futong Commerce were already complete, so Yang Hui had asked Yang Na to arrange her new position.

"Excuse me—" Zhu Jing started to say, wanting to end the conversation and answer her phone.

Unexpectedly, Yang Wei again made a gesture he thought was suave. "It’s fine, go ahead and take it." He had obviously misunderstood, thinking her ’excuse me’ was an apology for wanting to answer the phone.

Zhu Jing pressed the answer button. The conference room was so quiet that Yang Wei could clearly hear the voice coming from the other end of the line.

"Is this Zhu Jing? I’m calling from HR at Yanghe Commerce."

Yang Wei didn’t quite catch the company’s name, but he knew it definitely had to do with Zhu Jing’s new job. He quickly perked up his ears, afraid of missing any useful information.

After Zhu Jing confirmed her identity, the person on the other end said, "I just want to confirm, can you start on July 1st?"

"Yes, I can."

"Great. I’ll send you the offer letter today, so please look out for it and confirm receipt. We’re offering you a P10 rank, which is a Supervisor-level position."

Hearing this, Yang Wei’s eyes narrowed. He thought, ’Looks like she’s already found a job. The rank should be about the same as at Futong Commerce, but it’ll be tough for her to get the same salary she had here.’

The moment he had that thought, he heard the HR representative say, "The base salary for this position is 18,000 yuan. You can review the other benefits and compensation in detail when you receive the offer letter."

’How much? What’s her salary? It’s 8,000 yuan, right? I must be fucking mishearing things. How did I hear 18,000 yuan?’

Zhu Jing had already guessed her compensation would be similar to Xia Jie’s, and she knew Xia Jie’s package inside and out. So, the salary offered by HR didn’t cause much of an emotional ripple for her. After hanging up, however, she noticed that Yang Wei seemed even more worked up than she was.

"Zhu... Zhu Jing... your new job, are they giving you 18,000 yuan, or 8,000? 18,000 is way too high, isn’t it?"

She replied nonchalantly, "It’s just 18,000. What’s so high about that? Manager Yang, you must not have enough experience. If you job-hopped a few more times, you’d know there are plenty of good jobs out there. Anyway, I have things to do. I’ll be leaving now."

Yang Wei stared blankly in the direction Zhu Jing had left, starting to question his life. ’If even Zhu Jing can get a base salary of 18,000 yuan just by leaving, doesn’t that mean my base of 13,000 is an insult to my talent? Fuck, I low-balled myself during salary negotiations. I need to find a chance to have another serious talk with the company.’

After hearing about Zhu Jing’s compensation, he gave up on trying to persuade her. If he kept trying, he might just convince himself to quit.

’Oh, right. I need to find some time to ask Zhu Jing which company she’s going to. I should try to get in touch with them. If she can get 18,000, I should be starting at 20,000, at least.’

After leaving the conference room, he heard that President Shan was looking for him. Yang Wei eagerly scurried over to Dan Biao’s office.

KNOCK KNOCK~

"Come in."

He stooped slightly and called out in a low voice, "President Shan!" His tone was utterly sycophantic.

"Xiaoyang, have a seat. I called you in to see how you’re feeling on your first day at the company."

Yang Wei quickly replied, "I love the company’s atmosphere, and I’m very confident about this job. I will definitely correct some of the team’s persistent issues and bring order out of chaos, achieving rapid growth for Airex as quickly as possible."

’Bring order out of chaos? Rapid growth?’

Dan Biao stared at him strangely. He could hardly make sense of those words. With a brand like Airex, Dan Biao would be willing to call him a legend if he could just maintain its current performance. And he wanted to achieve rapid growth?
