The company’s Lantu Dream Chaser had been brought back, but Shen Meng still drove her Mercedes C260L when she went out. She considered the Lantu a company vehicle. If it were to be used for personal errands, it should be by Yang Na, the general manager. She was very mindful of this, and as Yang Hui’s girlfriend, she was especially careful not to get special treatment.

After debugging the equipment in the store with two of her teammates that morning, the live stream started at 10:30. Shen Meng watched from the shop for a bit. The host had, after all, trained for a long time at the company. The difference here was that back at the company, it was just them. In the store, however, there was a constant flow of customers. The online viewership was also different. At the company, the streams would often only have a dozen viewers, maybe a few dozen on a good day. But this time, shortly after going live, there were already several thousand people watching, and it was projected to break ten thousand soon.

Shen Meng stayed in the store until 11:30. Seeing that the host was gradually getting used to it, she stepped out. Yang Hui was on his phone, watching the live stream.

"The results are pretty good. An hour into the stream, and sales are already almost 300,000. The pace is about the same as NLB."

Yang Hui knew that the results would probably be even better if Shen Meng herself were streaming. Zen’s brand power was stronger than NLB’s, and on top of that, it was the only store in all of Qingjiang Province. Many consumers from the other prefecture-level cities found it inconvenient to travel to Qingzhou and opted to order from the online platform instead.

However, the items sold on the live stream were mostly the brand’s old stock or slow-moving items from the current season, strictly distinct from the merchandise in the physical stores.

"Sales from the online store are also pretty good now. We’re making over 10,000 a day. A few days ago, when the mall was offering subsidy coupons, we even hit several tens of thousands in a single day."

Shen Meng was in charge of all online sales. Besides the live-streaming group, she also had dedicated teammates for listing products online, customer service, and logistics. Shen Meng was the one who coordinated all of these moving parts.

The two of them were strolling around the first floor when someone called out, "Boss."

Yang Hui turned his head and saw Ji Kun with a man who looked to be around thirty-five. The man was about 173cm tall and wore framed glasses. His small eyes blinked incessantly as he sized up Yang Hui and Shen Meng. You could tell at a glance that he was a calculating person.

Ji Kun also greeted Shen Meng; the old colleagues knew each other. ’Looks like the Chief really got her,’ Ji Kun marveled to himself. ’She resigned, but she still couldn’t escape his clutches.’

"Go do your store rounds, Ji Kun."

Yang Hui had already said everything he needed to say back at the company. He didn’t like to put on airs as a leader and boss around his subordinates outside of work, especially not while he was shopping with his girlfriend.

Just then, the man with the glasses stepped forward, extended his hand, and said, "You must be Manager Yang. I’m Yang Wei."

’So forward?’ Yang Hui, who had just reached out his hand, froze. ’But I’m not a urologist. Why are you telling me this?’

Yang Wei’s face flushed with a hint of indignation. He clarified, "It’s Yang, as in the famous family of generals, and Wei, as in ’greatness’."

With a slight smile, Yang Hui shook his hand. "Hello."

"I heard you did a decent job with Airex, Manager Yang. Thanks for your contributions to the team. Now that I’m taking over, I’ll lead them to do even better."

Yang Hui gave a faint smile. ’Is he complimenting me or himself? So arrogant. But arrogance gets you nowhere in this job. You have to be able to deliver the goods.’

’Working at Futong Commerce was no picnic. Li Yang doesn’t give you much time; if your numbers are bad, he’ll lose patience with you fast. And for a brand like Airex to post good numbers, it needs more than just external resources—it also needs a stable internal team. Now that I’ve left Futong Commerce, Airex’s external resources are cut off. Internally, I’m sure Li Yang won’t lower the sales targets. That means the store staff will soon be in a position where they can’t earn commissions. How could the team possibly stay stable?’

’Add to that the fact that I took the team’s best performer, Zhu Jing, with me... this is basically nightmare mode. I have no idea where this Yang Wei gets his confidence. I wonder how Dan Biao managed to gaslight him into being so self-assured.’

Of course, what Yang Hui didn’t realize was that when Yang Wei saw Airex’s current numbers, all he saw was a brand with great performance and high achievement rates—the best-run brand in the company. No one was going to tell him about the past hardships, and even if they did, he wouldn’t be able to appreciate them.

Besides, he would never believe that all those partner resources had been secured by Yang Hui. ’That’s just Yang Hui bragging,’ he’d think, ’nothing but a bunch of rumors.’ ’Commercial partnerships are about company-to-company support. How much influence can one person really have?’

’Besides,’ he thought, ’if Yang Hui were really all that, would the company have let him leave? The company chose me and got rid of him, which proves I’m more outstanding.’ The sight of the beautiful Shen Meng next to Yang Hui made the imbalance in his heart even worse, instantly stoking his competitive drive.

"I think you can do it too," Yang Hui said with a placid nod, then paid him no more mind. He turned to Ji Kun. "Shen Meng and I are going to look around. Go on with your work."

Once they were a good distance away, Yang Wei sneered. "Shopping with some girl during work hours. No wonder the company decided he wasn’t cutting it."

Ji Kun opened his mouth, wanting to defend Yang Hui, but then thought better of it. ’This new boss seems incredibly petty. I can’t afford to contradict him, or he’ll target me.’

"Ji Kun, you need to be able to read the room. Knowing how to pick a side is the key to surviving in the workplace."

A sudden chill ran down Ji Kun’s spine, and he felt his spirits sink. ’This new guy, Yang Wei... his style is so much like Li Yang’s. How can a person like that lead a team? He’s just as caustic as Li Yang, but with none of his skill or ability.’
