Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?
Chapter 296 211: Nothing Good Ever Comes From Meeting Him (Part 2)
Wenren Du'Er let out a soft "oh," her eyes narrowing into beautiful little crescents. "I knew Daddy was the best."
She was overjoyed, clearly thinking that Yang Hui would rather spend a few thousand yuan than let her record be tarnished.
Girls are emotional creatures, even at such a young age. Yang Hui didn't respond, skillfully turning the car right and arriving at Haitang Garden.
Feng Yan's home was here. When entering the complex, they had to register as visitors. The guard only granted them entry after calling the resident to confirm. The property management here was quite responsible, and the complex itself was well-maintained. It could be considered an upper-middle-class community in Qingzhou, though it certainly couldn't compare to Wenjing Yunlu.
The little girl went up and rang the doorbell. A moment later, the door opened. Since the guard had already called ahead to confirm their arrival, the people inside knew it was Wenren Du'Er's parent.
A little girl about Wenren Du'Er's age opened the door. It had to be Feng Yan. She greeted Yang Hui, "Hello, Uncle," and invited them in. Teacher Yang must have already mediated the situation at school, because she was now chatting and laughing with Du'Er.
'Looking at this girl, it was hard to imagine she was the one who'd pranked a classmate with a toy spider. Appearances really are deceiving.'
"Hello, Uncle Yang!"
Her voice arrived before she did. It was a lovely sound, like the chiming of a bell.
When he saw the beautiful girl, dressed like a campus queen, Yang Hui knew this had to be Feng Lin, the one he'd spoken to on the phone.
Feng Lin stood in the golden halo of the living room's ceiling light. The cinched design of her black dress sculpted her slender waist into a sharp, clean arc.
Standing at 170cm, she had the smooth, elegant lines of a porcelain vase. A crescent moon pendant swung in a silver arc against the hollow of her collarbone. As she walked, the hem of her dress swirled, hinting at her supple waist. The form-fitting dress accentuated a full, yet graceful, curve of her hips.
Yang Hui narrowed his eyes. 'She's definitely on the level of a campus queen. The art academy really is full of beautiful women.'
"Ah—" She must have gotten a good look at Yang Hui's face, realizing how young he was. Feng Lin felt that calling him "Uncle Yang" had been a bit rash. 'But what else am I supposed to call him?' she thought. 'My sister and his daughter are classmates.'
She poured a cup of tea and placed it in front of Yang Hui. "Please, have some tea." She found she couldn't bring herself to say the word "Uncle" again.
As Feng Lin sat down across from him, Yang Hui apologized once more. He then handed her the small gifts he had brought for Feng Yan, including the clothes. "It's just a small token. Please, you must accept it."
Likely unaccustomed to such situations, Feng Lin seemed a bit flustered. She quickly refused, "There's really no need. You're being too kind. My sister was in the wrong, too. I looked into it, and she's the one who started the prank."
'I didn't expect her to be so reasonable.' Yang Hui smiled. "Look, I've already bought the clothes, and they're in Feng Yan's size. If I take them back, no one will be able to wear them."
Only then did Feng Lin accept. Du'Er had gone to Feng Yan's room, so Yang Hui planned to make a little small talk before leaving. He casually asked about Feng Lin's major and learned that she was studying design—fashion design, to be specific.
Yang Hui hadn't thought much of it, but when he asked a few more questions, he was stunned. She had actually won first prize in the China International Fashion Design Innovation Competition and the China Fashion Design New Talent Award. Her work had even been featured in the Chinese university exhibition at Milan Design Week.
"So, you're a true talent. I'm impressed."
'Yang Hui truly hadn't expected this beautiful, vibrant girl to be so accomplished. He immediately thought of the new company he was about to launch—didn't he desperately need design talent? Perhaps he could invite her to join.'
Feng Lin lowered her head. Yang Hui was tall and handsome, and his calm, steady demeanor gave him an air of maturity that was beyond his years—a combination that girls found very attractive. Being stared at by his peach blossom eyes as if he were sizing up his prey, Feng Lin's heart began to pound. 'This Uncle Yang's gaze is so intense!'
She replied with a touch of shyness, "You're flattering me. I'm supposed to start my internship in the latter half of the year, but I haven't found a position yet. I wouldn't dare call myself a talent."
'No position yet? Even better.' If he hadn't noticed how reserved she was, he might have excitedly stood up, tilted her chin, and said, "Feng Lin, it must be fate."
'Of course, he wouldn't actually do that. He was here to ask for forgiveness; he didn't want to add a new grudge before the old one was even resolved.'
"Feng Lin, when you start looking for your internship, feel free to contact me. I might be able to help you find a good position—one where you can use your talents and that pays well."
"Thank you," she said. 'She didn't have high expectations, but someone offering to help was never a bad thing.'
Yang Hui called for Wenren Du'Er and had her apologize to Feng Yan again, face-to-face. After she was forgiven, he took his daughter back to Wenjing Yunlu. Feng Lin didn't invite him to stay for dinner. She was shy by nature and already felt immense pressure just chatting with Yang Hui; if he stayed for a meal, she probably wouldn't be able to eat a bite.
On the way back, Du'Er sat in the back seat, propping her chin on her hand with a pensive expression. Yang Hui noticed in the rearview mirror and asked casually, "Du'Er, what's on your mind?"
When he saw her hesitating, looking like she wanted to say something but couldn't, he said, a bit impatiently, "If you have something to say, just say it."
"Teacher Yang said that if I have any questions, I can go to her house every day for help... but I want her to come to our house instead."
His eyes fixed on the road ahead as he gently turned the steering wheel, entering the Wenjing Yunlu District. He knew Yang Bing lived in the same complex. Hearing Du'Er's words, he laughed. "You're so lazy. You need help from your teacher, but you still want her to make a house call?"
