Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?
Chapter 297 211: Running Into Him Is Never a Good Thing (Part 3)
Wenren Du'Er muttered under her breath, "No good deed goes unpunished... I was just trying to create an opportunity for you two."
"What did you say?"
"Oh, Dad, nothing. I was just saying how nice the sun will be tomorrow."
He glanced at her in the rearview mirror. 'What's gotten into this kid? She's talking nonsense. How can you know today whether the sun will be nice tomorrow?'
"Just talk to Teacher Yang yourself. You can go to her house or she can come to ours, either way is fine. It's not a big deal, so don't fret about it. Anything else?"
Wenren Du'Er nodded her little head. "Yes. I already know how to do all those problems. What am I supposed to ask for her guidance on?"
"We're home. Out you go." After locking the car, he couldn't resist ruffling the hair of the little girl beside him, messing up her perfectly neat hairdo. "If you already know everything, what is there to ask for help with? Are we just doing this for show?"
"Dad, you messed up my hair! It's ruining my image—" Then she added, "No good deed goes unpunished. I'm just trying to create an opportunity for you two, you know!"
Yang Hui heard that. He glanced at the precocious Wenren Du'Er. 'I really don't get how her mind works. Creating an opportunity for me and Yang Bing? She's just playing matchmaker at random. Besides, is this really something a child like you should be worrying about?'
Xia Jie was enjoying her new job at Yanghe Commerce. The only drawback was that she rarely saw Manager Yang, but she figured since it was his company, she would see him more often in the future. Today, she heard from Du Qi and Wang Ling. They had both finalized things with Futong Commerce; this weekend would be their last, and they could start training at Yanghe Commerce next week.
She didn't know that Du Qi, Li Na, and Wang Ling—her three old subordinates from Futong Commerce who were following her to this new venture—had their own little group chat.
Li Na, being the first to join Yanghe Commerce, shared the details of her daily training in their group chat. At first, the other two joked, "Our team lead said the standards here were strict, but this is way more than we expected."
They admitted to themselves that they would never have been able to meet these standards at Futong Commerce. But as new hires at Yanghe Commerce, following Xia Jie and brimming with motivation, they found it just barely acceptable.
But on the last day of her training, Li Na dropped screenshots of the salary package, promotion path, and other benefits into the group chat. The group went silent for thirty seconds, followed by a message bomb from Du Qi and Wang Ling.
"Oh my God, are the benefits at Yanghe Commerce some kind of early-onset communism?"
"Yeah, with benefits like these, buying a house and a car is right around the corner for us."
"Nope, I can't wait. I'm resigning from Futong Commerce right now. It'll be a huge problem if Yanghe Commerce runs out of positions for us."
Once that was said, no amount of reassurance from Li Na could calm them down. She told them the company was in a rapid growth phase with many more stores opening, so they were in desperate need of people and wouldn't run out of positions. But at that point, who cared about Futong Commerce anymore? After several rounds of negotiations with Futong Commerce, the two managed to secure an early departure, allowing them to leave the company by the end of the week.
With work going smoothly and her old teammates coming to join her, Xia Jie was in high spirits. When she returned to her rented apartment, a wave of accomplishment washed over her. It wasn't her own house, but on her previous salary, she would never have splurged on renting a place like this; back then, saving even a few hundred a month was the priority.
"Xia Jie, you're back."
"Yeah. Zhu Jing, you look exhausted."
"Ah—no, not at all." Zhu Jing scrambled up from the sofa. "See? I'm perfectly fine now, full of life."
As she changed into her slippers in the entryway, put her bag down, and poured a glass of water, Xia Jie wondered why Zhu Jing was so sensitive today. It had just been a casual comment. What she didn't know was that the very Manager Yang she was always thinking about had spent the whole afternoon at their apartment doing push-ups, and had even taught Zhu Jing how to do splits and squats.
"Xia Jie, I've already got the rice cooking and prepped the vegetables. You take a break, I'll finish up the other dishes."
Reaching the kitchen, Xia Jie peeked inside and saw that Zhu Jing had already chopped the vegetables and laid them out in portions. "You rest," she said. "I'll take over. You look completely drained."
Zhu Jing didn't argue. Instead, feeling a pang of guilt, she lay back down on the sofa to recuperate. Yang Hui had really put her through the wringer that afternoon, leaving her utterly depleted.
She fell asleep almost instantly. She was in a daze when she heard Xia Jie calling her for dinner, and her eyes fluttered open. Remembering the titillating dream she was having, she couldn't help but blush. 'Is this stuff addictive or something? It just ended this afternoon, and now I'm already dreaming about being with him again.'
She went to wash her face and then came to the dining table. "Xia Jie, I think I'll be able to join you and fight by your side starting at the beginning of next month."
"Oh, that's wonderful! Does that mean Manager Yang is coming back too?"
