Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?
Chapter 1841 - 1078: Decree Stone Tablet_2
[Reveal your humanity]
What does it mean to reveal humanity?
Leon had tried using humanity to inject fire into a bonfire, tried swallowing humanity whole, and even waved humanity around in front of the wall. He even went to the swamp to catch a Monster.
But none of these methods worked, leaving him perplexed for days.
Until he sought advice from Luluwo, who said this:
"You said you found a Mimicry branch that can transform into a Monster near the hint on the wall, and there are many Monsters outside of the wall? Haven’t you thought about the correlation between the two?"
This statement hit Leon like a bolt from the blue.
He then tried using the Mimicry branch to transform into the appearance of a Monster from the swamp. This transformation would end if attacked or after making an attack. He had to put in great effort to maintain the Mimicry form without injury as he reached the wall.
This ridiculous method actually worked absurdly well.
The wall disappeared, revealing the room behind it, and the ladder hanging inside the room.
Leon climbed up the ladder for a long time and finally reached the upper levels where the Decree Stone Tablet was located.
"I can’t imagine Lapu climbing a ladder in that Heavy Armor."
He thought about it, and then smiled.
Soon after, he finally reached the place where he last encountered Lapu.
"What am I even doing, can anyone tell me..."
Lapu’s gloomy voice echoed from afar. As he came closer, indeed, Lapu was sitting in the same spot as before, lamenting life.
But this time he heard Leon’s footsteps approaching, immediately raised his head, and spoke in a low, repressed voice:
"It’s you, we meet again."
His tone wasn’t as upbeat as before.
"How’s it going on your end? It’s not looking too good for me here, still can’t find the Decree Stone Tablet."
"After searching for so long..."
"Could it be that the tablet never existed from the start..."
Lapu continued speaking, sinking back into a state of depression.
Usually seeing Lapu in this state would break Leon’s heart, but not now.
He smiled and said, "I’ve already found the Decree Stone Tablet."
Lapu’s head shot up, and it must have been a face of utter shock beneath the helmet.
"Are you serious? Ah, sorry, sorry, I know you wouldn’t lie to me."
"So, where is it? Where is the Decree Stone Tablet?"
Seeing his friend looking so anxious, Leon didn’t keep him in suspense and shared all he knew.
After listening, Lapu’s previously tense body relaxed almost to the point of collapsing to the ground.
Leon gave him a hand, which was met with repeated thanks.
"Thank you, thank you, I’ll head there right away!"
He quickly got up, and from under his helmet came a voice gradually regaining vitality.
"I can finally remember who I am, what I live for, and even my true name! All thanks to your help!"
"Hahahahaha!"
Lapu’s current state was truly one of walking away with a hearty laugh, regaining the vigor once lost.
"Consider it my repayment for the Wedge-shaped Stone Disc." Leon struck a cool pose, standing with arms crossed against the wall.
These words jolted Lapu out of his elation, making him refocus on Leon, saying:
"I really thank you, my brother, I swear by my real name!"
"No matter what I remember, no matter who I am, I will always be your friend, if you’re willing."
Lapu said with heartfelt sincerity:
"I will always be your friend."
Leon intentionally struck a dashing pose, waving his hand as he said with flair:
"Go, retrieve your memories, and remember who you truly are."
"I’m off!"
Lapu stood up and dashed outside, and by the time Leon walked out, his friend’s figure had completely vanished.
"I can’t wait any longer."
Leon found the bonfire and sat by it for a moment, as if refreshing the world’s state. If nothing unexpected happened, Lapu should have reached the Decree Stone Tablet by now?
He eagerly stood up and began heading toward the Decree Stone Tablet.
Once he had a goal in mind, even traversing the map became smoother. Leon quickly arrived in front of the Decree Stone Tablet.
Surprisingly, he didn’t see any sign of Lapu near the Decree Stone Tablet.
Could something have gone wrong?
Leon felt a sudden pang of worry.
He hurriedly ran a circle around the area but didn’t find Lapu; instead, he found a line of text next to the Decree Stone Tablet.
"Meet me at the crypt below, my friend."
"This should be left by Lapu."
Leon tilted his head; he had never seen Lapu’s handwriting so he couldn’t verify the script, but the text here served as a hint.
So he headed toward the crypt.
Leon had some idea about the so-called crypt mentioned in the message. It wasn’t far from here, down a path.
He originally thought about exploring there but noticed something odd about Lapu, which shifted his focus to finding the Decree Stone Tablet.
Thus, his exploration of the underground was delayed until now.
"It should be here."
Leon descended down the path leading underground.
At first, it was just ordinary stairs, but as he went further down, the stairs became older and more decayed, with stones scattered everywhere, and an increasingly chilly sensation filled the air.
Leon stepped down deeply, and suddenly his view changed dramatically.
A massive cavern extending straight underground appeared before his eyes. From his current position, he couldn’t see the bottom—such a profound abyss it was.
The path he was on wound around this great chasm; it was unclear how many steps it would take to reach the end.
"Where is Lapu?"
Walking and looking, Leon discovered an abrupt break in the stairs in front of him—a distance of several meters down to the next section.
For him, falling wouldn’t be lethal, but it would certainly be quite unpleasant.
Could Lapu have fallen down?
"Hey, brother, I’m right here."
A familiar voice suddenly echoed from behind, startling Leon to the point of a full-body jolt as he spun around.
Lapu was squatting there on the steps behind him.
He squatted so low that stones hid him from view, and Leon had walked right past without noticing.
"Brother Lapu, you’re okay?"
Leon promptly approached, his face expressing care and concern.
However, why did the atmosphere feel so strange now?
Why did Lapu’s squatting posture seem different this time? Although he was still squatting, it was as if he exuded a more thug-like vibe?
"Thanks to you, my memory is fully recovered now. Truly, thank you, my friend."
Lapu squatted, speaking.
"That’s great, I’m so happy for you."
Leon was genuinely pleased, glad for the recovery of Lapu’s memory.
Before he could say more, Lapu suddenly added:
"By the way, as a token of my gratitude, go check that area over there; there’s a heap of treasure waiting for you. Go ahead and take it, hehe."
"Treasure?"
Leon was puzzled for a moment; he hadn’t seen anything there just now.
But if Lapu said so, then it had to be true.
He could completely trust his dear brother without condition!
So, despite a flood of questions crowding his mind with no time to ask them.
He naively headed toward the broken stairs without any defenses.
