Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?
Chapter 1842 - 1079: Patch!!!!!!
"There’s a broken staircase up ahead. If you look from there, you’ll see a bunch of amazing treasures."
"What, don’t you believe what I’m saying?"
As Leon walked toward the edge of the broken staircase, Lapu’s words from a few seconds ago resurfaced in his mind.
For some reason, it felt a bit strange. Would Lapu say something like that?
A bit out of character, isn’t it?
And the way he’s crouching now... Lapu used to crouch too, but back then it was more restrained. Now, it seems almost reckless.
But perhaps he’s just overly excited after regaining his memory. It’s entirely understandable to be a bit reckless when something this momentous happens.
Thinking this, Leon took a large stride to the edge of the broken stairs and looked downward.
"Treasures, where are they?"
When he had looked earlier, there were no signs of any treasures. If there were light points, they should be very conspicuous in this environment, yet he saw nothing. Could it be a treasure chest camouflaged with the surroundings or something?
Just then, he heard footsteps behind him.
It must be Lapu coming over.
Leon spoke without turning his head: "Help me look. Where are the treasures? Surely they haven’t been stolen by the skeleton monster, haha—"
At the third "ha," his laughter abruptly stopped, because...
"Bang!"
A strong force hit him from behind.
The impact was solid. Standing at the edge without any guard, with nothing to grab onto, he naturally tumbled forward!
"Hey, hey, hey?"
Just before falling, Leon flailed with all his might, only managing to turn himself around.
He saw Lapu retracting his leg.
He kicked me!?
Countless exclamation points and question marks simultaneously erupted in Leon’s mind as the sensation of weightlessness suddenly overcame him, causing him to plummet downward.
He was so shocked that he forgot to pull out his Magic Wand to cast something like a Flying Skill.
"Heh heh heh."
A laugh, completely different from before, sounding sly, floated down from under Lapu’s frog-like helmet.
"No matter how many dynasties change, human desires remain the same."
Lapu raised a hand to remove the helmet, and even as Leon fell, his gaze was fixed intently on the helmet until...
A bald head appeared under the helmet.
"!!!???"
Leon’s pupils contracted sharply.
A sneaky smile curled up on that unfamiliar bald head, peering down at Leon from above, he said:
"For someone like me, who desires nothing, it’s really hard to understand. Oh well, maybe this is the path humans are meant to follow. I’ll pray for you, in hopes you acquire the Dark Soul."
"Haha, farewell, my friend."
As he saw the bald figure turn to leave, Leon finally snapped out of his shock and bewilderment, and yelled loudly:
"Patch!!!"
"Thud!"
He hit the ground heavily, stirring up a cloud of dust.
The swirling dust was as chaotic as his heart.
"...."
Leon lay spread-eagled, unmoving, staring at the broken staircase from which he had been pushed down.
That kick was indeed, indeed, indeed so familiar, the strength was exactly as he remembered.
It was the force of Patch, who once kicked people off cliffs.
The baldest residual shadow character, Patch, infamous in adventurer kill lists!
He never thought he’d encounter Patch here.
Moreover, moreover...
"That bastard Patch actually stole Lapu’s clothes!"
The thought made him seethe with anger.
Seeing a familiar residual shadow in this accursed place like Ring Seal City, even if it was Patch, one might feel a sense of nostalgia, but this bastard just couldn’t change his ways.
He stole Lapu’s armor, disguised as Lapu to fool me!
Absolutely unforgivable!
"I’m going to kill him and take back Lapu’s clothes!"
Leon clenched his fists, hopped up from the ground, blazing with a vengeful spirit.
However, his words and actions seemed somewhat incongruous, though it was hard to pinpoint why.
As if he wasn’t sincerely meaning what he was saying?
Leon looked up at where he had fallen from; with his current skills, he could easily climb back up the wall and maybe even catch up with Patch, who hadn’t gone far?
No, in the Sain Dungeon, residual shadow characters don’t move like normal walking—they teleport. So, even rushing after him, it’s impossible to catch a glimpse of Patch.
Instead, it would disrupt the designed plan of the Sain Dungeon.
As a seasoned adventurer in the Sain Dungeon, he knew every sudden event in the dungeon had a purpose, so...
"Is this signaling me to explore this path?"
He turned his gaze to the Underground Space before him. If Patch hadn’t kicked him, seeing that height difference, he’d likely think this wasn’t a typical exploration route.
"Damn you, bastard Patch."
Leon kicked a stone on the roadside angrily and turned to start exploring the cemetery.
