White Dragon Lord

Chapter 394: Battle Between Dragons and Titans

  • Next Chapter

Power of Dark Erosion had sent Sighing Wind forward to taunt them merely to test the waters; failure cost them nothing.

"Prepare for a full assault. Drive the damned dragons out of our world."

...

Watching from the control room of the White Tower, the White Dragon Lord saw the Titan army spring into action.

The Titans cast Water Walking on their entire force and charged across the sea toward the White Tower. Each Titan gripped a Spear of the Titans, their momentum fierce.

The pressure of the charging Titans made the dragons tense their muscles and their hearts race as they locked their eyes on the incoming enemy.

The red dragons in the vanguard were the most nervous—or perhaps the most excited. Thick plumes of white smoke blasted from their massive nostrils, making them look like enraged bulls.

"Flame of the Molten Mountain! Wait until the Titans reach the ice before you strike!"

Upon receiving the White Dragon Lord's command, Flame of the Molten Mountain glanced at the distant seawater with a trace of apprehension in his eyes.

Compared to the aggressive Titan army, the eerily calm seawater was far more concerning. No dragon wanted a Tidal Titan's Spear flying at them from below right at the climax of a fight.

Flame of the Molten Mountain kept a dead stare on the advancing Titan army until the vanguard finally set foot on the ice forged by the white dragons.

"In the name of the red dragons! Kill them!"

Roar!

Heaven-shaking roars erupted as the dragon army flapped their wings and surged toward the Titans. The vanguard dragons brewed dragon breath in their jaws, while others rapidly chanted spells that gathered frenzied elemental energies around them. Surrounding the White Tower, the Dragon Queen's priests prayed to the Five-Headed Dragon Queen, casting divine enhancements on their charging kin.

Inside the White Tower, the White Dragon Lord rapidly chanted a spell.

Dragon Domain!

A brilliant golden magic field descended over the dragon army. The dragons instantly felt power surge through their bodies—their speed increased, their stamina regenerated faster, and their overall combat strength skyrocketed.

The Black King sensed the golden energy particles drifting through the air, which stirred memories buried deep in his mind.

"To think I would live to see the Dragon Domain once again."

The Dragon Domain was a mass-enhancement spell developed by the Ancestral True Dragons during the ancient era when the Dragon Race and the Titans fought for supremacy in the Star Realm. It drastically empowered all draconic creatures within its borders while suppressing non-draconic entities. Only members of the Dragon Race with exceptionally pure bloodlines could possibly glean this spell from their inheritance.

The dragons surrounding the White Dragon Lord cast sidelong glances at him, but he kept his eyes locked firmly on the battlefield. The first formal clash between the two great races in the Sincaro Titan World erupted like thunder and fire.

Massive Titans sprinted across the ice, hurling their Spears of the Titans at the descending dragons. The razor-sharp tips pierced the air, sending out a shrill whine.

The dense volley of spears was impossible to dodge. In response, the red dragons unleashed the primordial dragon breath they had been holding back. Fan-shaped waves of flame blanketed the sky, driving toward the earth with a scorching heat that incinerated the energy within the Spears of the Titans.

Still, a few unlucky red dragons were struck. Scorching dragon blood sprayed through the air as they wailed and plummeted onto the ice.

Rather than terrifying the dragons, the death of their kin only ignited their hatred. The horde swooped down like eagles plunging upon their prey. Without even needing to aim, they unleashed torrents of scorching dragon breath onto the densely packed Titans.

Lightning and fire rained from the sky, crashing against the Titans guarded by layers of Magic Shields.

Some Titans absorbed too much firepower, their layers of Magic Shields shattering one after another. Highly adhesive dragon fire clung to them, turning them into wailing torches, while blinding lightning strikes reduced others to charred husks.

Cone-shaped blasts of dragon fire, lightning breath, multicolored yet devastating Spears of the Titans, and a vast array of magic intertwined in the sky.

Amid the fierce explosive shockwaves, the dragons plummeted into the fray, baring their fangs and claws to tear into the Titans.

At such brutal close range, magic was nowhere near as lethal as raw physical power. By unspoken agreement, both the brawling dragons and the Titans abandoned their spellcasting.

Razor-sharp dragon claws sank viciously into Titan skulls, tearing their craniums clean off, while the Titans whipped their Spears of the Titans into a blur, piercing dragon bellies like venomous vipers striking from the grass.

Robust red dragons fought tooth and claw, locked in savage brawls with the Titans. The blue dragons formed squadrons of five to cover one another, sweeping over the battlefield to hunt for worthy targets before unleashing concentrated barrages of lightning breath to reduce them to cinders.

The Titan army was just as strategic. The thick-skinned Rock Titans held the frontline, the Thunder Titans wildly hurled their Spears of the Titans, and the Storm Titans focused their efforts on the clustered blue dragons in the sky.

Dragons and Titans paired off to fight to the death. Scorching blood painted the ice, scattered fires melted the terrain, and the sheer physical might of the Titans and dragons fractured the frozen surface.

The terrifying buffs from the Dragon Domain completely negated the Titans' numerical advantage. With the battle locked in a stalemate, the Titans finally played their first trump card.

Beneath the surface, the Tide Titans hidden in the water wielded their Spears of Tides to relentlessly chisel at the ice layer. Driven by the Titans' monstrous strength, huge holes began opening across the frozen field.

Battered from below by the Tide Titans and ravaged from above by the shockwaves of the battle, the icy battlefield forged by the white dragons finally reached its breaking point.

Crack!

A fissure snapped across the ice. It widened rapidly, spiderwebbing out in all directions.

That first fissure was only the beginning. Along with the Tide Titans' destruction, cracks bloomed across the entire field. The icy battlefield utterly collapsed, disintegrating into chunks of shattered ice that bobbed on the water. The red dragons frantically beat their wings to pull up into the sky, while the Titans violently surged forward, trying to drag their opponents down.

The White Dragon Lord's expression turned grave.

"Black King! Breath of Extinction! Move out!"

"Understood!" they replied in unison.

Following their commander's orders, the black and green dragons unleashed their breath attacks toward the shattered sea. Sickly sweet green toxic fire dyed the seawater emerald upon contact, while highly corrosive acid rained down, burning holes through the remaining ice floes.

The Tide Titans lurking below immediately suffered. Those touched by the green dragons' toxic fire felt their heads swell with agony, and those struck by the highly corrosive black dragon acid had their skin peel right off. Terrified to expose themselves, the Tide Titans dove deeper into the ocean.

"Let's see if you have more dragon breath, or if the sea flows faster!"

The Tide Titan commander ordered his troops to manipulate the currents, moving the contaminated seawater away from their position.

As the seawater shifted, the floating ice was carried away with it. By the time the Tide Titans cleared out the hazardous waters and finally broke the surface, they realized the dragons had already seized the opportunity to break free of the melee. The horde had soared high into the sky, unleashing a barrage of long-range magic that crossed paths in the air.

The Tide Titans joined the fray, hurling Spears of the Titans condensed from seawater.

Breaking the ice also came with a steep disadvantage for the Titan army—they no longer had solid footing. Water Walking was never as convenient as standing on firm ground. The Magma Titans had already cast Flight early on, hovering just above the churning sea.

The dragons held absolute aerial superiority, acting like bombers as they rained frantic magic down on the Titans below. The two sides were perfectly matched, neither able to do anything to the other.

Though they couldn't effectively kill the Titans, the dragons' air superiority gave them a slight edge. Magical conjurations of solid ice and rock plummeted toward the surface under the force of gravity, forcing the Titans to divert a fraction of their focus to evade the falling debris.

"Mother of Lightning! Send in the servants!"

"Yes, Lord Priest!"

As one of the three supreme rulers of the Sincaro Titan World, the Mother of Lightning had naturally assumed command over all the giants.

The giant army that had been kept in reserve at the rear of the battlefield finally made their move. A massive horde of giants surged toward the battlefield like a tidal wave.

The giants possessed weakened versions of the Spears of the Titans. While they couldn't compare to the authentic weapons, their destructive force still rivaled High Tier magic. Combined with their numerical advantage, this force was enough to change the tide of the battle.

Empowered by Water Walking, the giant army sprinted across the ocean's surface. Inside the Titan Floating Tower, the Titan upper echelon nervously prepared counter-spells in case the dragons unleashed magic like Tsunami—after all, Master Tier giants could not fly.

Inside the White Tower, the White Dragon Lord watched the giants rushing to reinforce the battlefield. He pulled out the conch horn he had seized from the King of the Tides, brought it to his lips, and blew.

Wooo~!

A mournful, sobbing hum echoed through the air. The Titans shivered involuntarily. Sensing the magical aura woven into the sound, the Mother of Lightning's eyes widened.

"That's the King of the Tides' conch horn! How is this possible?! How could the dragons..."

Power of Dark Erosion glared at the incoherent Mother of Lightning.

"Sindona! What is going on?!"

The Mother of Lightning was snapped awake by Power of Dark Erosion's roar.

"Quickly, Lord Priest! Prepare to intercept a tsunami! The horn the dragons are blowing is a magical artifact that belonged to the Tide Titan—the King of the Tides! It requires no incantations! It only needs mana to rapidly conjure a massive tsunami!"

"What?!"

In the distance, the uniquely enchanted blast of the horn plunged into the sea. The relatively calm waters instantly surged, violently stacking wave upon wave until they crested into a towering wall of water seven stories high. The gargantuan tsunami barreled toward the coastline.

Staring up at the colossal wall of water, the terrified Titans on the surface desperately cast Flight on themselves, while the giants had no choice but to turn and flee.

Beneath the surface, the Tide Titans received Power of Dark Erosion's command and began using their control over the ocean to raise a tsunami. The combined might of over a thousand Tide Titans forged a wave every bit as massive as the White Dragon Lord's. The two monolithic walls of seawater slammed into each other like a pair of clapping hands.

Boom!

Seeing the tsunami intercepted by the Titans, the White Dragon Lord funneled his mana madly into the horn. The mournful hum echoed out once again. Backed by the White Tower's Elemental Pool, the White Dragon Lord didn't fear mana consumption in the slightest.

Tsunami after tsunami surged forward. The Tide Titans wanted to flee, but they had no choice but to bite the bullet and intercept the waves to buy time for their comrades to escape.

The earth-shattering booms struck fear into every heart, pushing the giants to flee even faster. The Titans weren't faring much better; the dragons' flight advantage was just too oppressive in aerial combat. But the true nightmare was yet to come, for the dragon Mages were already preparing an anti-air domain.

If this continued, the Titans wouldn't just fail to defeat the dragons—they might end up like drowning dogs. Power of Dark Erosion immediately ordered a retreat.

"Retreat!"

Fighting as they retreated, the Titans pulled back toward the continent. Under the cover of the Floating Tower, the anti-air domain never managed to take effect. The Titans flew into the airspace above the mainland, while the giants were still fleeing across the surface of the sea.

Finally, after blocking over twenty waves of tsunamis, the Tide Titans were utterly exhausted. Choosing self-preservation, they dove deep into the ocean to scatter and flee.

The tsunamis raised by the White Dragon Lord met no further resistance as they barreled down on the frantically fleeing giants.

The towering walls of water caught up to the fleeing giant army, dragging the desperate giants beneath the waves. Even after drowning the giants, the tsunamis didn't lose their momentum, continuing to spread toward the land.

Seven-story waves slammed onto the mainland, scraping away the exposed topsoil. The now-murky floodwaters swept further inland, swallowing everything along the coast. This land, already ravaged by the chaotic battle between dragons and Titans, was subjected to yet another disaster.

Power of Dark Erosion looked at the flooded ground, knowing in his heart that unless they found a way to counter that horn, any number of giants would be useless.

But as long as the dragons stayed in the sea, it would be very difficult for the Titans to counter the horn that summoned tsunamis.

The giants were useless!

Without the giants' help, even if the Titans defeated the dragons, they would pay a horrific price. Staying any longer would only invite humiliation.

Power of Dark Erosion decided to abandon the giant army swallowed by the sea, ordering the Floating Tower to retreat deep inland and vanishing from the dragons' sight.

In the Sincaro Titan World, the first great battle between the dragons and the Titans had ended in victory for the dragons!

Roar!

The dragons flapped their wings and flew joyously through the air, venting their exhilaration. On the ground below them, massive floods raged, the giants struggling bitterly in the murky waters.

The dragons gazed down at this scene with cold indifference. In Titan society, the status of a giant was roughly equal to a sub-dragon's standing in dragon society, and a sub-dragon's standing in the hearts of true dragons was...

Frankly speaking, sub-dragons had virtually no status in the hearts of the vast majority of dragons.

Although killing any number of giants wouldn't have much impact on the Titans, it was an excellent way for the dragons to vent their anger.

Without waiting for the seawater to completely settle, the dragons dove down, using their dragon breath to kill every struggling giant on the surface.

Over the turbulent sea, the dragons acted like foraging seabirds hunting for fish. Whenever they spotted a target, they plummeted toward the water, killing the drowning giants.

Gradually, no more struggling giants could be seen on the surface.

Spells like Underwater Breathing were not uncommon. The White Dragon Lord mobilized the white dragons and the Murlocs to hunt down any survivors in the sea, while simultaneously gathering the corpses of the dragons and Titans that had fallen into the water.

After the battle concluded, the White Dragon Lord gathered the dragons to tally up the casualties. The results were quickly calculated.

In this battle, a total of 809 dragons sustained varying degrees of injuries, 214 dragons died, and 125 dragons were missing. They were only considered missing because the Murlocs hadn't found their corpses yet; their chances of survival were extremely remote.

The Murlocs collected exactly 307 Titan corpses. Judging by the death toll of both sides, the dragons had only secured a pyrrhic victory.

Under the White Dragon Lord's command, the dragon army dug a massive crater on an unnamed island, gathering the corpses of their fallen kin inside it.

On a dark, windy night, the dragon army gathered around the crater to bid their comrades a final farewell. The Matron of Venom led the priestly team in singing the sacred hymns of Tiamat.

"...The warriors who fought and died for the Dragon Race shall surely be reborn in the Divine Kingdom of Her Majesty the Dragon Queen."

As the hymn concluded, the Matron of Venom nodded at Flame of the Molten Mountain. Flame of the Molten Mountain understood, unleashing a torrent of dragon breath over the fallen dragons' corpses.

Following this, many red dragons joined Flame of the Molten Mountain in breathing fire, and the dragon corpses in the crater gradually charred black.

The flickering firelight reflected off the dragons. A cold, solemn aura permeated the horde—it was the aura of sorrow and hatred.

"We will avenge you!"
