White Dragon Lord
Chapter 380: A Landscape Permanently Altered by Battle
The moment he saw the fiery red figure, a name popped into the White Dragon Lord's mind—Madahak, Lord of the Red Lotus.
The White Dragon Lord sized up his arch-enemy. The Lord of Red Lotus was several sizes larger than an ordinary Titan. His muscles bulged with gorilla-like strength, exuding a wild, scorching aura. The intense oppressive pressure he casually released made the surrounding subordinates subconsciously keep their distance.
Perhaps sensing the White Dragon Lord's undisguised gaze, the Lord of Red Lotus turned his magma-sphere-like eyes toward the White Tower's control room, meeting the dragon's stare.
Dragon and Titan!
Ice and fire!
The two were born mortal enemies, as incompatible as fire and water. Both sides could feel the other's intense killing intent.
Thoughts raced like lightning through the White Dragon Lord's mind as he estimated their respective strengths. His side had a perfectly intact super Floating Tower, two High-Tier Legends, and sixteen legendary powerhouses.
The enemy, meanwhile, possessed a dilapidated Magic Tower, one High-Tier Legend, and thirty Legendary Rank Titans.
Thanks to the White Tower's potent buffing magic and the Metamagic Railgun, the White Dragon Lord's faction held a distinct advantage in combat power. The odds of victory were about sixty-forty. Looking at the ruined Tower of the Raging Sea, a ruthless resolve swelled in the White Dragon Lord's heart.
Take advantage of the enemy's weakness to claim their life. If he didn't take down the Tower of the Raging Sea today, he would inevitably pay a steeper price in the future. The White Dragon Lord made his decision, but it was the Lord of Red Lotus who struck first.
Magma Spear!
A black spear that looked like solidified magma rapidly condensed in the Lord of Red Lotus's hand, taking shape in the blink of an eye. The shaft was covered in twisted, magma-like patterns that radiated terrifying heat, evaporating the moisture in the air into a mist of scalding steam.
Having one's territory invaded was infuriating enough on its own, but the fact that the invaders were their mortal enemies—the Dragon Race—only poured oil on the fire.
Fueled by rage, the Lord of Red Lotus hurled the Magma Spear. The instant it left his hand, it broke the sound barrier, leaving a conical sonic boom cloud in its wake.
The moment the Lord of Red Lotus attacked, the numerous legendary practitioners inside the White Tower retaliated. Several strikes slammed into the flying Magma Spear, forcibly shattering it through sheer numbers.
The flames of war ignited!
Both sides unleashed their signature techniques. Magic and ki collided and exploded in the sky, producing endless deafening booms. Violent energy storms swept in all directions, filling the air with a pungent, ionized scent.
The combat strength of both sides was relatively close. In a prolonged exchange of long-range attacks, neither could inflict fatal injuries on the other.
The Lord of Red Lotus immediately changed tactics. He left five Titan spellcasters behind to hold the ruined Tower of the Raging Sea, while the remaining twenty-five Titans spread out in a fan formation and charged at the White Tower. When it came to close-quarters combat, Titans armed with their intrinsic Spear of the Titans were top-tier experts.
The White Dragon Lord triggered the restriction within the Control Core, activating the Soul-Linking Chain. Transparent chains drilled into the bodies of the legendary powerhouses and the Ancient Gold Dragon, connecting everyone to the White Tower.
Through the Soul-Linking Chain, their minds were linked, allowing for seamless coordination. If necessary, the White Dragon Lord could also draw on the White Tower's energy reserves to replenish their strength, drastically boosting their overall combat power.
"Warriors! Kill them!"
The White Dragon Lord issued the command through the Soul-Linking Chain, and the Ancient Gold Dragon led the charge.
The Ancient Gold Dragon and the other melee professionals clashed with the oncoming Titans, while the spellcasters hovered securely within the barrier of the Moon's Protection, safely unleashing various spells.
The Titans had the advantage in numbers, but the White Tower's side coordinated flawlessly. The battle became a fierce deadlock, with neither side able to overpower the other.
The Ancient Gold Dragon, possessing the highest combat power, faced off against the Lord of Red Lotus. Both were elites among High-Tier Legends and boasted rich battle experience. Claws clashed with fists; Dragon Breath and Spears of the Titans exchanged fire.
Even the shockwaves of their clash posed a lethal threat to ordinary legendary powerhouses, prompting everyone else to steer clear of their battlefield.
After another frantic exchange of close-quarters blows, the Ancient Gold Dragon and the Lord of Red Lotus pulled back to create distance.
By now, a small patch of Dragon Scales on the Ancient Gold Dragon's flank was scorched and shattered. Boiling hot dragon blood seeped from the cracked scales and dripped down his armor. Feeling the sharp sting from his side, the Ancient Gold Dragon glared intently at the Lord of Red Lotus.
The Lord of Red Lotus was in even worse shape. His massive arm had been torn open by sharp dragon claws, leaving four moderate gashes. Thick, magma-like blood oozed from the wounds and trailed down the Titan's arm. Additionally, the molten Titan bore a visible welt from a savage tail whip.
The Ancient Gold Dragon's heart grew heavy. Even with the White Tower's buffs, he could only secure a slight edge. The Lord of Red Lotus was incredibly strong!
Keeping a wary eye on his opponent, the Lord of Red Lotus brought his hand to his mouth and licked away the blood. His magma-orb eyes gleamed with a bloodthirsty, exhilarated light.
"Golden Bulwark! Over twenty thousand years unseen, and this is all you amount to!"
"Golden Bulwark..."
Hearing this nearly forgotten title spoken by the Lord of Red Lotus, the Ancient Gold Dragon could no longer maintain his calm.
"It's been a long time since I heard that name. It seems you were also part of that war, Titan! State your name!"
"Hmph! Back then, I was nothing but a nameless grunt at the Legendary Rank Level! I had no title!"
A Magma Spear condensed in the Lord of Red Lotus's hand.
"But you! The loyal hound of the Dragon God of the North Wind! The hero of the Hakuma Star Domain campaign! The renowned Golden Bulwark! After all these years, you actually need the help of a Floating Tower just to fight a nobody like me to a draw!"
"You've grown old!"
With that, the Lord of Red Lotus gripped his Magma Spear and charged again. The dragon and Titan resumed their ferocious brawl.
The Ancient Gold Dragon's emotional fluctuations transmitted through the Soul-Linking Chain into the White Dragon Lord's mind. The White Dragon Lord paid special attention to their duel. Hearing their exchange, he realized that the Lord of Red Lotus was also a veteran of the war between dragons and Titans that had erupted over twenty millennia ago.
Over twenty thousand years ago, Bahamut, the Dragon God of the North Wind, and Augustine, the Luminous Titan, clashed in the Pantheon. This conflict eventually escalated into a full-scale war between the two great races. Due to the intervention of the Gods of Justice, the battlefield was shifted from the Seven-Layered Celestial Mountain to the vast Star Realm.
The White Dragon Lord understood that the Ancient Gold Dragon must have earned the title of Golden Bulwark during that era. Though curious about the Gold Dragon's legendary past, now was not the time to ask.
Seeing that the Ancient Gold Dragon could still suppress the Lord of Red Lotus, the White Dragon Lord refocused his main attention on the primary battlefield. The Lord of Red Lotus's side fielded twenty-five legendary Titans, while the White Tower's side only had sixteen legendary powerhouses.
If not for the White Tower's powerful buffs and the White Dragon Lord's covering fire, their side would likely have suffered casualties by now.
Across the battlefield, a legendary Ogre Warrior was being pincered by two Titans. Two fists could not fight four hands. The energy-wreathed Spear of the Titans was just about to pierce the Ogre's body.
Signor's Ice Shield Technique!
The White Dragon Lord instantly cast a Master Tier spell—Signor's Ice Shield Technique—shielding the Ogre in the nick of time. The Spear of the Titans shattered the ice shield but lost its momentum. As a vicious Spiked Club swept toward him, the Titan was forced to abandon his spear and retreat.
Metamagic Railgun, fire!
The rotating crystal atop the White Tower blasted out a purple energy shell that streaked toward the Titans, trailing a long tail of light. However, the Titans also had their Magic Tower's support; a Legendary Rank Level water shield intercepted the Metamagic Railgun blast.
Inside the dilapidated Tower of the Raging Sea, the five spellcasting Titans did nothing but defend against the White Dragon Lord. They took turns casting spells to perfectly block his strikes, plunging the battle into a stalemate.
Seeing that conventional methods wouldn't break the deadlock anytime soon, the White Dragon Lord prepared his Soul Magic.
The soul of the White Dragon Lord's clone had only grown from a single severed wisp, making its soul strength far inferior to his main body. Consequently, his clone's proficiency in Soul Magic was vastly reduced, barely allowing him to cast a low-difficulty Master Tier soul spell.
High Tier Soul Magic—Soul-Breaking Arrow!
Formless, colorless Soul Energy coalesced into an arrow, silently shooting toward a legendary Titan locked in fierce combat with a red dragon.
A lethal sense of crisis flared in the legendary Titan's heart, but he couldn't pinpoint where the attack was coming from. Even as the Soul-Breaking Arrow struck and shattered his soul, the unfortunate Titan never knew what killed him.
When his opponent suddenly went limp, the red dragon was baffled. However, as the most ruthless among the Chromatic Dragons, he wasn't about to pass up such a golden opportunity. Risking the possibility of a feint, the red dragon lunged, clamping his jaws around the Titan's throat and ripping it open with a savage tear. Blood erupted like a fountain.
Roar!
An excited dragon's roar echoed across the battlefield, bringing a momentary pause to the chaos. The combatants stared in disbelief toward the red dragon, who bellowed in triumph with a maw full of blood, while the Titan's corpse plummeted in freefall, spraying a trail of crimson through the air.
The first legendary powerhouse to fall in this battle had emerged.
But that wasn't why everyone was shocked. What stunned them was that this elite Titan had been suppressing the red dragon just moments ago. In the blink of an eye, his throat had been torn out, leaving everyone utterly bewildered.
"What happened to Faroman?!"
The Titans were struck with panic and disbelief, while the White Tower's forces saw a massive surge in morale, immediately launching fierce offensives against their foes.
After "finishing off" his enemy, the red dragon turned and flew toward a companion who was being double-teamed by two Titans, joining the fray to alleviate the pressure.
Seizing the opportunity, the White Dragon Lord unleashed another Soul Magic spell and eliminated a second legendary Titan. The Titans finally realized something was horribly wrong and frantically tried to shake off their opponents, retreating toward the Tower of the Raging Sea.
Seeing this, the Lord of Red Lotus, still locked in combat with the Ancient Gold Dragon, burned with shock and fury.
"Despicable dragons! What did you do?!"
The Ancient Gold Dragon guessed the truth, but he wasn't about to satisfy the Lord of Red Lotus's curiosity. His strikes only grew more vicious.
Caught between shock and rage, the Lord of Red Lotus fell back repeatedly, retreating to the Tower of the Raging Sea under his subordinates' cover. The White Tower's forces capitalized on the momentum and gave chase.
"Stupid dragons! Rather than chasing us, you should worry about your own base! Before I came here, I ordered my men to launch an attack from the Cliffside Tower! Your base is burning! Hahaha!"
The White Dragon Lord frowned, but his brow quickly smoothed out.
Although Sea-Calling City only had one legendary powerhouse, Willy, it boasted over five hundred Master Tier experts. Coupled with heavy weapons of war like Magic Crystal Cannons, it wouldn't fall easily anytime soon.
"Go to hell! Damned Titans!"
With no legendary powerhouses caught in a melee blocking the way, the White Dragon Lord could safely cast wide-area magic. He rapidly chanted an incantation.
Legendary magic—Breath of Shivering Cold!
A massive, spinning ice-blue magic array manifested in front of the White Tower. Its profound runes emanated a mesmerizing yet lethal glow. Torrents of ice-blue vapor blasted wildly from the array like an oversized, high-pressure water cannon, surging toward the Titans gathered before the Tower of the Raging Sea.
Wherever the terrifying freezing air passed, the temperature plummeted. Moisture crystallized into frost, as if the air itself had been frozen solid.
It took the White Dragon Lord ten seconds to channel the Breath of Shivering Cold through the White Tower. Ten seconds was neither long nor short, but it was enough time for the Titans to react and make their preliminary preparations.
Led by the Lord of Red Lotus, the Titans joined forces to conjure a colossal magma shield. The shield was pitch-black overall, its surface crisscrossed with glowing red, magma-like fissures. Fierce flames spewed from these cracks, enveloping the entire shield in a scorching inferno.
Legendary magic—Hagm's Magma Shield!
The freezing blasts slammed into the burning shield. The two diametrically opposed energies of extreme cold and extreme heat annihilated each other, generating massive amounts of steam. A thick, foggy shroud swallowed the shield, obscuring everything behind it.
The Ancient Gold Dragon led the legendary powerhouses on a detour around the main clash, flanking the Titans from the side.
Seeing his opponents in relentless pursuit, the Lord of Red Lotus realized his plan to force the enemy's retreat with news of a base attack had failed. Wiping away any hesitation, he activated the enchantment on his belt.
Legendary magic—Volcanic Eruption!
The sea cliff foundation beneath the Tower of the Raging Sea heaved upward. The earth bulged into a massive mound that expanded rapidly, transforming into a volcano. Terrifying magma and scalding, sulfur-scented gases erupted from the crater. The lava surged in all directions, swallowing everything in its path, while the superheated gases rocketed into the clouds, filling the sky with pungent ash.
The Ancient Gold Dragon and the legendary powerhouses hurriedly aborted their charge. Flapping their wings, they hovered in the sky, watching with complicated expressions as the Titans were consumed by the magma.
Volcanic Eruption was originally an offensive legendary magic spell. Its mechanism used magic to forge a channel to the subterranean magma layer, drawing out the deep-earth lava to destroy enemies.
Yet the quick-witted Lord of Red Lotus had actually repurposed it as a lifesaving spell, leading his subordinates down the magma channel to flee deep underground.
As a molten Titan, plunging into lava was like returning home for the Lord of Red Lotus. The Ancient Gold Dragon wasn't foolish enough to challenge a molten Titan of equal tier within the magma, let alone the ice-aspected White Dragon Lord.
The volcano continued to erupt, but the Titans were gone. The half-ruined Tower of the Raging Sea had also vanished beneath the all-consuming lava. Scorching magma poured into the frigid seawater, cloaking the entire coastline in thick steam. By the time the dust settles, the landscape here would be permanently altered.
"Retreat!"
Once everyone had returned to the White Tower, the White Dragon Lord steered the fortress toward Sea-Calling City.
