White Dragon Lord
Chapter 210
With those words, the fallen one, August Lansmoth, stepped into the Portal and vanished.
But his words echoed like thunder in the High Priest's mind.
If the operation failed, the High Priest dared not imagine his own fate. Demon lords showed no mercy to failures.
When that time came, even death would be a luxury.
The High Priest turned to face the council members blocking his path. His killing intent was almost tangible as he spoke, enunciating every word.
"You brought this upon yourselves!"
The moment his voice faded, the council members felt a surge of intense unease—a premonition of a mortal threat.
Suddenly, on the Demon Church's side, three forcibly elevated High-Tier Legendary practitioners erupted with violent energy and charged the council members.
"This is bad! Hurry! Retreat to Samiria!"
The council members poured all their strength into fleeing, using every method at their disposal to fly toward Sky City. The White Dragon Lord grabbed Priest Sinod beside him and pushed his wingbeats to their absolute limit, streaking toward the Protective Shield. Along the way, he snatched up an elf and a dwarf relying on flight equipment.
The very instant the White Dragon Lord crashed through the Protective Shield—
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Three deafening explosions rang out in succession. Three mushroom clouds bloomed in midair and merged, whipping up a violent energy storm. Shockwaves rippled out in all directions. On the ground below, giant trees were uprooted and blown away like discarded sacks in the wind.
Those council members who had flown too slowly and failed to enter the Protective Shield in time rapidly activated their life-saving magic equipment.
Those with strong enough trump cards stumbled wretchedly into the Protective Shield. Three council members with inadequate defenses had their Magic Shields shattered outright by the blast waves.
Fortunately, the Grand Duke Silver Dragon holding down the fort in Sky City acted just in time, yanking the three unlucky council members inside. However, they were still heavily injured.
The most severely wounded of the trio was a mangled mess of blood and flesh, having lost a section of his arm.
Inside the Protective Shield, the White Dragon Lord panted heavily as he stared at the mushroom clouds outside. Ferocious energy particles born from the blasts washed continuously over Sky City's Protective Shield, forcing the Elemental Furnace to run frantically to keep the barrier charged.
Beside the White Dragon, Muradin Firebeard watched the flickering Protective Shield and their three wounded comrades. His throat bobbed as he swallowed hard.
"Hey! Amos, you are a true friend to the Dwarves."
If the White Dragon Lord had not saved him, the incredibly slow-flying dwarf would likely have joined the ranks of the injured. Even though divine magic could heal the most grievous wounds, who would willingly endure such agony?
The elf also gave the White Dragon a look of deep gratitude and spoke solemnly.
"Lord Amos, the Elven Forest welcomes your arrival at any time."
Hearing this, the White Dragon Lord pulled his gaze back from the destruction and smiled at the pair.
"The gates of White Castle will always be open to you both."
In the distance, Priest Sinod, who was currently healing their injured colleagues, overheard the exchange and offered the White Dragon a friendly smile of his own.
On the far side of the mushroom clouds, the members of the Demon Church had retreated ten thousand meters away and fallen into a heated argument.
The tentacles of the Thousand-Handed Demon's avatar danced wildly in the air like thrashing kelp. It split open its terrifying maw and roared.
"Human! You are merely a servant of the Abyss! Who gave you the courage to command us?!"
The High Priest swept a chilling gaze over the three Demons and spoke.
"Everything is for the master's great cause. Only by doing exactly as I say can we possibly complete the task he assigned us."
One of the Demon avatars snapped angrily.
"That is your task! Do not drag me into it! Watch yourself, or I will eat you right now!"
The High Priest knew the three Demons were unwilling to risk their lives to assault Sky City alongside him. He remained impassive on the surface while secretly activating a mystic art.
The three Demon avatars suddenly found themselves unable to move and shrieked in terror.
"You! What did you do to us?!"
"Do not forget that you were all created by me. I merely added a little something extra to your bodies during the process."
The High Priest stared at the three Demons, madness bleeding into his eyes.
"Now, it is time for you to repay me!"
Try as they might, the three Demon avatars could not break free. They unleashed furious roars.
"Human! Never let your soul fall into my hands!"
The High Priest ignored the Demons' threats. He flew right into the center of the trio and rapidly chanted a dark, guttural spell.
Listening to the incantation spilling from the High Priest's lips, the Thousand-Handed Demon screamed in horror.
"This spell?! It is the Fusion Spell! No! No! No!"
The Fusion Spell was an ancient, wicked mystic art, a taboo technique even within the Abyss. It had only one function: to devour other Demons!
The three Demon avatars finally understood why the High Priest had ignored their threats. Under the power of the Fusion Spell, neither their bodies nor their souls could escape. Their true bodies down in the Abyss would not even know how their avatars had died.
"Human, you wouldn't dare!"
"Are you insane?! You will be demonized!"
The High Priest remained completely unfazed, his expression an unsettling mix of calm and madness.
The chant ended!
Three blood-red conduits abruptly thrust out from the High Priest's body and plunged into the three Demons like siphons.
The three Demon avatars felt the flesh and blood essence within their bodies draining away down the conduits, transferring straight into the High Priest.
A sickly flush of twisted comfort spread across the High Priest's face. Everything belonging to the three High-Tier Legendary Demons funneled through the conduits and into his body, where he devoured and digested it all.
However, this brutal method of consumption brought severe consequences.
Red tumors swelled across the High Priest's skin, twisting him into a deformed, half-human, half-demon abomination. If the White Dragon Lord had been present, he would have noticed that the High Priest's very soul was polluted, destroying any chance he had of ever advancing further.
Through the gradually fading mushroom clouds, the council members also detected the intense energy reaction flaring up behind the smoke.
"What is going on?!"
The Grand Duke Silver Dragon realized something was wrong as well and immediately investigated. His mental energy fought a difficult battle to pierce the interference of the chaotic energy storm, finally discovering the massive upheaval occurring on the Demon Church's side.
What was this?!
Seeing the half-human, half-demon High Priest and the conduits stabbed into the Demons' bodies, the Grand Duke Silver Dragon was deeply shocked.
The High Priest had eaten the three Demons?!
Feeling the aura radiating from the High Priest growing stronger by the second, the Grand Duke Silver Dragon hesitated no longer. For the first time, the purple gemstone at the very peak of the highest Magic Tower lit up.
The High Priest snapped his head toward Sky City and muttered to himself.
"Oh? You noticed? What a pity! It is already too late!"
The High Priest vanished in an instant.
A split second after his departure, a massive pillar of purple energy arrived in a flash, disintegrating the three empty Demon husks left behind until not even dust remained.
The half-human, half-demon High Priest stood high in the sky, his body surging with pulsing energy as he looked down at Sky City below.
