White Dragon Lord

Chapter 211: Forbidden Spell — Tide of Darkness

  • Next Chapter

Inside Sky City's control room, Grand Duke Silver Dragon realized the High Priest hovering in the sky was radiating an energy so terrifying it made even him shudder. He cursed inwardly.

After devouring three High-Tier Legendary Demon avatars, the High Priest had broken through that final barrier, reaching a level of power bordering on the divine.

The High Priest felt the unfathomably deep and oppressive magic power coursing through his body, his heart surging with wild ecstasy. This world-destroying strength was the ultimate goal he had always pursued!

'Then let the fall of Samiria celebrate the realization of my dream!'

With that thought, a twisted smile cracked across his tumor-riddled face. He parted his swollen lips and rapidly chanted a low, hoarse incantation.

Terrifying magic energy gathered in the sky. The elements grew so dense they became almost tangible, pressing down on everyone's hearts like a mountain.

Sensing the coalescing elements overhead, the White Dragon Lord's scalp went numb.

Judging solely by these gathered elements, the spell being cast by the High Priest of the Demon Church had already surpassed the limits of Legendary Magic.

On the platform of Sky City, just as the councilors were at a loss for what to do, Grand Duke Silver Dragon's deep, grave voice echoed in their minds.

"Colleagues! The enemy has broken through that barrier. My strength alone is not enough to stand against him. Spellcasters, please enter the control rooms of the secondary Magic Towers and fight alongside me!"

The spellcaster councilors looked toward the eight secondary Magic Towers spaced along the edge of Sky City.

Currently, these Magic Towers were only being operated by Legendary Mages. If spellcasters of the High-Tier Legendary Level took control, Sky City's power could be elevated by a massive margin.

At the same time, Grand Duke Silver Dragon assigned a Magic Tower to each of the High-Tier Legend spellcaster councilors. Since there were fewer than eight High-Tier Legendary Mages present, the White Dragon Lord was also assigned one.

The White Dragon Lord shrank his massive body and followed the instructions, teleporting directly into the control room of his designated Magic Tower.

Inside the control room, the Legendary Mage who had originally been operating the tower had already received his orders, stepping aside to hand over the core of the Mage Tower: the Control Orb.

The Mage Tower's Control Orb was a spherical object floating above a circular magic array. Forged through complex alchemy, the value of a single alchemical orb was equal to a top-tier piece of Legendary Equipment.

Without hesitation, the White Dragon Lord placed his dragon claw onto the Control Orb and channeled his spiritual power into it.

"Unfamiliar spiritual power detected. Identifying... Identification successful. Councilor Amos, you have obtained temporary control access to Mage Tower No. 6."

The White Dragon Lord closed his eyes. His consciousness seemed to expand outward. Though he was sealed inside the airtight core control room, everything outside the Mage Tower fell into his view, as clear as an omniscient god's perspective in a game.

At that moment, Grand Duke Silver Dragon's voice rang out in the councilors' minds once more.

"Quickly! The enemy's spell is almost complete! Cast Dimensional Barrier together!"

The White Dragon Lord hastily began chanting the incantation for the Legendary Magic, Dimensional Barrier.

As the White Dragon Lord chanted, the magic power within the Mage Tower was mobilized. Paired with the profound incantation, it triggered a mystical magical effect.

When the incantation ended, the White Dragon Lord felt an invisible yet entirely solid Dimensional Barrier materialize just outside Sky City. Beyond his own barrier lay several others—the Dimensional Barriers cast by the other councilors who had finished their spells a step ahead.

Nine instances of the Legendary Magic, Dimensional Barrier, overlapped with each other, completely wrapping Sky City in protection.

High above, the High Priest's lengthy, drawn-out chant finally came to an end.

The entire sky plunged into silence. Immediately after, a surging, tempestuous tide of dark energy erupted from the void.

Forbidden Spell — Tide of Darkness!

An endless tide of darkness poured from the sky, crashing down on Sky City like a plunging waterfall from the heavens. The pitch-black shadow completely engulfed the massive floating city like the end of the world.

Through his heightened senses, amplified by the Mage Tower, the White Dragon Lord realized that before this terrifying tide of dark energy, even the dust motes in the air were being completely corroded and dissolved into nothingness.

'Truly worthy of a forbidden-level spell!'

The dark tide of energy crashed against the Dimensional Barriers. There was no energy reaction; the dark energy simply sank into the barriers and vanished.

The Legendary Magic, Dimensional Barrier, created a channel leading to another dimension. Until the barrier was overloaded and shattered, absolutely no attack could harm those shielded behind it.

It did not take long for the outermost Dimensional Barrier to overload and burst. The tide of darkness was then intercepted and absorbed by the second barrier.

One after another, the Dimensional Barriers were overloaded and shattered!

Finally, upon reaching the fifth Dimensional Barrier, the tide of darkness dissipated entirely.

Sunlight spilled over Sky City once more; it felt as if separated by a lifetime.

The White Dragon Lord let out a long breath of relief. Though the Tide of Darkness was a Forbidden Spell of legend, the Dimensional Barriers cast by the councilors were also among the strongest Legendary defensive spells in existence.

Furthermore, bolstered by the massive magic power output of Sky City, the sheer power of the Dimensional Barriers had been doubled.

Feeling his internal reserves of magic power completely untouched, the White Dragon Lord couldn't help but marvel. Sky City truly deserved its reputation as the Divine Kingdom of Mages.

High in the sky, the High Priest stared blankly down at the completely unscathed Sky City, unable to believe his own eyes.

"This! This is impossible! How could they be completely unharmed under the strike of a Forbidden Spell?!"

The High Priest's gaze wavered uncertainly. A moment later, his resolve hardened, and he continued chanting his incantation.

'Let's see how much longer you can all hold out!'

Inside Sky City's control room, Grand Duke Silver Dragon felt a headache coming on as he looked at the reserve energy, which had dropped to a mere thirty percent.

When the battle began, nearly half of Sky City's energy had already been consumed. Now, another twenty percent was gone. At this rate, Sky City would soon face the awkward situation of running out of energy.

Gritting his teeth, Grand Duke Silver Dragon issued a command.

"Tower Spirit One, activate the backup energy! Add Elemental Crystals into the Elemental Furnace!"

Under normal conditions, the Elemental Furnace could absorb free magical energy from the air and store it to serve as a power reserve for battle.

Once the reserve energy was depleted, the conversion efficiency of reabsorbing ambient free magical energy would be too low. The only option was to add high-energy elemental fuel: Elemental Crystals!

Box after box of Elemental Crystals, under the control of the Tower Spirit, were added into the Elemental Furnace deep within Sky City. They were rapidly converted into pure magical energy, compressed into a viscous liquid elemental state, and piped through a complex crystalline channel network directly into the energy reserve pools.

Watching the reserve energy levels climb swiftly back up brought a small measure of comfort to Grand Duke Silver Dragon. He forced himself not to think about it—every single box of Elemental Crystals dumped into the Elemental Furnace was practically a mountain of gold!

Grand Duke Silver Dragon glared resentfully at the High Priest in the sky.

'If I can't beat you, I'll just crush you to death with money!'

'Erm...'

'Well, it's public funding anyway.'

Thinking of it that way, Grand Duke Silver Dragon felt much better.
