White Dragon Lord

Chapter 209: Betrayal!!!

  • Next Chapter

The black-robed man raised one hand and spread his fingers. A terrifying aura erupted from his body, making the White Dragon Lord feel as if he were facing an ancient behemoth.

"Amos! Dodge! That is a fallen one—August Lansmoth!"

The panicked voice of the Legendary Priest, Priest Sinod, rang out in the White Dragon's mind. Startled, the White Dragon Lord hurriedly flapped his wings, changing direction to soar into the sky.

The fallen one—August Lansmoth!

He had originally been a powerful paladin who spent his life on the front lines fighting against evil. Yet for some unknown reason, he had fallen overnight!

He had slaughtered the city he was stationed to protect, sacrificing every single soul to an unknown entity. The divine power within August Lansmoth had transformed into foul magic, completing his shift from absolute justice to absolute darkness.

Leveraging his deep knowledge of the church's plans, August Lansmoth had ruined their vital operations multiple times and had even orchestrated the death of the previous generation's strongest paladin.

From then on, the name August Lansmoth became taboo in Nordhill.

The moment the White Dragon shifted course, August Lansmoth launched a pitch-black sword from his hand. It arrived in the blink of an eye, brushing right past the dragon's tail.

Though the attack missed, the biting edge of the blade sent a chill down the White Dragon Lord's tail. Amos had no doubt that the defensive power of his scales was utterly meaningless against a fallen one.

"Trying to run?! It won't be that easy!"

Eusis, having finally arrived, swung his staff, sending a surging tide of black energy rushing toward the White Dragon.

Priest Sinod felt helpless. If the White Dragon were intercepted and forced to face both Eusis and the fallen one, both man and dragon would be plunged into grave danger.

Holy Baptism!

Sacred energy erupted from Priest Sinod's body and poured into the White Dragon Lord. The soaring White Dragon was instantly cloaked in a dense, gaseous layer of golden divine power.

The tide of black energy crashed against the divine power like waves smashing against a reef.

Protected by the divine energy, the White Dragon Lord remained completely unharmed, successfully fleeing beyond the duo's pursuit range.

Hovering in the sky while holding Priest Sinod, Amos dodged various stray energy attacks. He looked at the mountain of flesh behind the two men that had completely fused together, and asked, "Your Excellency Sinod, do you have any good ideas?"

Priest Sinod let out a helpless sigh.

"It is already too late."

As soon as the words left his mouth, the writhing mountain of flesh below began to contract. A hundred-meter-tall giant rapidly took shape. The creature had a single eye, and its entire body was as blood-red as skinless muscle.

The Flesh Giant threw its head back and unleashed a savage roar. Even from far away, the White Dragon Lord could smell the thick stench of blood mixed with the lingering resentment of the fused beasts that had died to form it.

Staying here would only put him in further peril. The White Dragon Lord decisively retreated.

At that moment, Eusis pulled out a blood-red Crystal Ball. The Crystal Ball fired a beam of crimson energy straight into the Flesh Giant's head.

The Flesh Giant instantly fell silent. Having seized control of it, Eusis trembled with sheer excitement.

Across the battlefield, the Council members felt their scalps tingle with dread. Everyone present had heard, to varying degrees, rumors about the terrifying nature of a Flesh Giant.

A brief moment passed.

The ecstatic High Priest of the Demon Church noticed that Eusis had yet to make a move. Seeing August Lansmoth also standing quietly to the side, the High Priest sensed something was wrong and shouted furiously, "Eusis! Ogus! What are you waiting for?!"

Hearing the High Priest's furious rebuke, August Lansmoth remained completely unfazed. Suppressing a laugh, Eusis slowly raised his head, a sickly smile twisting his face.

"Hehehe! My dear High Priest, look closely at whose side I am really on!"

A bizarre, deeply evil crest of the Devils surfaced behind Eusis.

The High Priest of the Demon Church felt as though the sky had collapsed, his entire body turning ice-cold. The forces of the Guardian Council froze in collective shock before quickly gloating.

Nobody had expected that the second-in-command of the Demon Church, Eusis, was actually a spy for the Devils, completely blindsiding the Demon Church at this critical juncture.

Priest Sinod also realized the true reason behind the paladin's fall: the fallen one, August Lansmoth, had been corrupted by the Devils.

Eusis looked at the Flesh Giant behind him and burst into uproarious laughter.

"It wasn't a waste toiling like beasts of burden for the church for decades. You brainless fools spent centuries planning this and gathered the flesh essence of hundreds of thousands of High Tier demonic beasts to fuse this flesh golem. I'll gladly take it off your hands."

Using some unknown method, Eusis instantly stowed away the hundred-meter-tall Flesh Giant.

"It will be the perfect gift for my Lord!"

Suddenly, a pitch-black dagger stabbed into Eusis's back, plunging straight through his heart.

In utter disbelief, Eusis turned his head to look at August Lansmoth standing behind him, bloody foam spilling from his mouth.

"You actually... cough... cough, why? Cough... cough, I was the one who guided you!"

August Lansmoth leaned in close to Eusis's ear and whispered in a cold, indifferent voice.

"Thank you for guiding me down the right path. But right now, you are in my way."

August Lansmoth twisted the dagger in his grip, and Eusis instantly went limp. The fallen one pulled the blade free.

At the same time, the White Dragon Lord noticed that the moment the blade was withdrawn, a translucent soul was sucked from Eusis's body straight into the black dagger.

Amos raised an eyebrow.

How ruthless!

A Soul-Imprisoning Dagger!

In Hell and the Abyss, the souls of powerhouses were incredibly rare and precious treasures.

After squeezing out the very last drop of value from his prey, August Lansmoth wiped the dagger clean on Eusis's corpse. He then yanked a pendant from Eusis's neck and let the lifeless body plummet to the ground.

This highly dramatic turn of events caused the forces on both sides to involuntarily pause their battle.

Filled with indescribable fury, the High Priest roared with a trembling voice, "You...! You!"

In just that brief span of time, the High Priest of the Demon Church seemed to age decades. He transformed in the blink of an eye from a middle-aged man with a full head of black hair into a frail, white-haired old man.

Losing all reason, the High Priest lashed out in anger. A sickly green, cone-shaped jet of flame blasted from his Ram-Headed Staff, shooting directly toward the fallen one.

August Lansmoth dodged the flames without any sign of panic.

The pale green fire struck the earth below. Without a sound, the ground was instantly corroded, forming a massive crater with green slime splattered around the edges.

Hovering in the air, August Lansmoth tore open a scroll, and a purple Portal manifested behind him.

He turned around.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, August Lansmoth glanced back and spoke in a mocking tone.

"Oh, right, Your Excellency High Priest. The Archbishop asked me to deliver a message. They can only hold off Merlin Heavenly Principle for ten minutes. You'd better hurry up!"

Nobody expected it to end like this, did they?!
