White Dragon Lord
Chapter 189: Gold Dragon of the Ancient Dragon Stage
Hearing the deep voice rumble behind them, the whispering indigenous dragons immediately fell silent.
Behind the dragons, a behemoth flapped its wings and slowly rose from the mist. Its matte golden scales gave off an indestructible, oppressive weight, and the massive spiraling horns atop its head radiated a sovereign's domineering aura.
Staring at the gold dragon, which was nearly twice as long as the indigenous dragons, the White Dragon Lord was deeply shaken.
'What?!'
'An Ancient Dragon that has transcended the species limit?!'
An Ancient Dragon was the first level achieved after a dragon broke past their species' natural limits. An existence of this caliber was capable of rivaling the avatars of ordinary deities. Even in the Star Realm, where powerhouses were as common as clouds, they would never be nameless nobodies.
The White Dragon Lord was horrified. He never expected the Madilan World to harbor an existence of this level.
The Ancient Gold Dragon flew to the front of the dragons and scrutinized the White Dragon Lord without a word.
Amos felt a chill creep down his spine under that intense gaze. Just as he was about to speak, the gold dragon beat him to it.
"Dragon Island welcomes you, young compatriot from another world."The White Dragon Lord looked at the gold dragon with initial surprise, which slowly shifted into confusion. After noting the reactions of the surrounding indigenous dragons, his gaze finally settled into deep respect.
"My respects to you, benevolent elder."
The White Dragon Lord's reverence for the gold dragon was genuine. It was impossible for any dragon to reach the Ancient Dragon Stage in a world bereft of magical elements.
Therefore, the gold dragon before him must have shattered its species limit before the elemental conduit was closed off.
Given the gold dragon's strength, the White Dragon Lord refused to believe he couldn't find a way to leave this plane. Yet, the elder had chosen to stay.
Combined with the naked reverence and attachment in the indigenous dragons' eyes as they looked at him, the reason for his stay became obvious—he remained to watch over the kin who could not leave.
Such an elder was worthy of the admiration and pride of all dragons.
The gold dragon nodded, accepting the white dragon's respect, and turned to fly deeper into Dragon Island.
"Come with me."
The White Dragon Lord flapped his wings and followed, flying all the way to a massive cavern halfway up a mountain.
The cave had been carved directly into the cliff face. The sheer ninety-degree drop would deter any creature incapable of flight.
Scanning the walls around the entrance, the White Dragon Lord spotted the residual traces of numerous magic traps. However, starved of magical elements, these once-powerful traps had entirely lost their function.
At the very back of the cave lay a staggering mountain of gold coins and gemstones. The gold dragon flew over, settled himself atop the hoard, and looked back at the white dragon.
"Welcome to my cave, young compatriot."
The White Dragon Lord spared the mountainous hoard barely a glance. Over the years, the White Castle had rapidly amassed immense wealth through trade. His current net worth easily exceeded that of the Ancient Gold Dragon.
"Elder, it is an honor to visit your lair. First, please allow me to introduce myself. I am Amos Aldrich of Nordhill. I am a dragon lord, brought to this world by an accident."
"I am Adelaide Leslie."
After stating his name, the gold dragon frowned. He stared up at the cavern ceiling, a look of reminiscence washing over him as he muttered to himself.
"Nordhill? I feel like I've heard that name somewhere before."
Seeing the gold dragon lost in thought, the White Dragon Lord didn't interrupt and casually sat down on the cavern floor.
"I remember now. Over twenty thousand years ago, right after I broke through to the Ancient Dragon Stage, I answered the call of His Majesty Bahamut. I went to Mount Celestia to fight in the great war against the Titan Race. One of the squad members under my command at the time was from Nordhill."
The White Dragon Lord stared in shock at the gold dragon perched on the hoard. He had already reached the Ancient Dragon Stage twenty thousand years ago? What a living fossil!
But then again, considering an Ancient Dragon boasted a lifespan of a hundred thousand years, this gold dragon wasn't actually all that old.
Noticing the white dragon's stunned expression below, the gold dragon added another detail.
"I believe his name was Stuart Jordmadin. He was a young dragon with extraordinary potential. Do you know of him?"
'Know of him? The name is absolutely legendary!'
The White Dragon Lord answered aloud.
"Of course I do. During Nordhill's darkest hour, it was the gold dragon, Senior Stuart Jordmadin, who led Nordhill's Dragon Race in a grand alliance with the continent's other races to drive out the Demons."
The White Dragon Lord let out a sigh.
"It's just a pity that Senior Stuart Jordmadin fell in that earth-shattering war. Otherwise, the crown of the continent's number one powerhouse would never have fallen to a human today."
"That truly is a pity," the gold dragon lamented. Then, the realization struck him, and he bolted upright on his hoard in shock.
"Wait! Hold on! The Nordhill World was invaded by Demons?! And you successfully drove them off?!"
Once the White Dragon Lord confirmed it, the gold dragon's expression turned incredibly colorful.
As an old relic who had lived for tens of thousands of years, he knew exactly what successfully repelling a Demonic invasion meant.
It meant that world possessed immense power. It had to be a large-scale plane, at the very least.
The gold dragon's mind began racing as he recalled the words the White Dragon Lord had spoken upon his arrival.
"Little fellow, when you first arrived, you said you could take the Dragon Race of Dragon Island and leave this world. Were you serious?!"
"Naturally. It breaks my heart to see my compatriots in this world suffering so."
The White Dragon Lord looked at the indigenous dragons of Dragon Island the same way an ordinary person from his past life might look at malnourished refugees.
Sensing the genuine sincerity in the White Dragon Lord's voice, the gold dragon smiled in satisfaction.
"Then how do you plan to do it?"
The White Dragon Lord released his powerful magical aura and spoke with brimming confidence.
"Step one: I must first gather enough Elemental Crystals to teleport myself back to Nordhill."
"Step two: I will construct a Portal in Nordhill and teleport back to the Madilan World with sufficient magical materials."
"Step three: I will build an identical Portal in the Madilan World to link Nordhill and the Madilan World together. I shouldn't need to explain the rest, right?"
Feeling the surging waves of magic radiating from the white dragon, the gold dragon was secretly amazed. A dragon choosing to become a Mage was incredibly rare.
Generally, dragons relied solely on the inherited spells within their bloodlines to fight.
But this approach had an obvious flaw: a dragon would only know the magic within their inheritance. They couldn't actively learn and master more diverse or higher-tier spells.
Obviously, the dragons of the Madilan World had suffered from exactly this shortcoming. Ordinary Legendary Dragons couldn't cast high-difficulty spells like cross-realm teleportation.
Let alone construct a stable Portal—a super-scale engineering project that demanded both immense magical prowess and high-level technical expertise.
