Chapter 206: Chapter 202: Interstellar Deserted Star Farm Woman 13

"Rongrong, how much longer until the poison acts up?"

"An hour at most."

With that confirmation, Ji Xiaosong returned to her room.

The long night stretched ahead, a vigil she would have to endure.

She left her door ajar, casually slipping into a silk slip dress before getting ready for bed.

"Tell me when the poison flares up. I’m going to get some rest first."

"You got it~"

*

An hour later, Rongrong woke Ji Xiaosong.

"Song, Dai Lixing’s poison is acting up."

Ji Xiaosong stretched languidly before slowly getting out of bed.

This poison wouldn’t kill him; after all, there was only a little bit left.

At that moment, Dai Lixing had been about to rest when he suddenly let out a muffled groan and fell to his knees.

His nails dug deep into the carpet. When Ji Xiaosong arrived, this was the wretched sight that greeted her.

"What’s wrong?"

Ji Xiaosong was about to help him up when she saw the veins bulging on his neck, his skin flushing a strange, feverish red before her very eyes.

"Go! Don’t come any closer!"

Dai Lixing tore at the collar of his shirt. He still had a shred of sanity left, but not much.

"How can I just leave you like this? Tell me, is there anything I can do to help?"

"There’s a suppressant in the spaceship’s main control room. You..."

His voice was broken and hoarse, his scorching palm pressed hard against Ji Xiaosong’s knee.

But the young woman suddenly pressed down on his trembling shoulders, the increasingly strong scent of cedar from his body filling her senses.

"Your heart is beating so fast, it feels like it’s about to explode."

Ji Xiaosong’s fingertips traced a line across Dai Lixing’s heaving chest, feeling the blood coursing ever faster through his veins.

Dai Lixing suddenly grabbed Ji Xiaosong’s wrist, pinning it to the floor. His searing breath ghosted across the side of her neck.

"While I’m still lucid... run!"

"If I run, what about you? What will you do?"

"Don’t worry about me..."

Ji Xiaosong didn’t leave. Instead, she leaned down, pressing herself against his tense body as her fingers brushed aside his sweat-dampened hair.

The moonlight illuminated the crimson at the corners of the man’s eyes, like a snow-capped mountain set ablaze by the sunset.

As his scorching lips suddenly latched onto her earlobe, the cucumber vines outside rustled, climbing up the bamboo trellis.

Tangled together, they tumbled into the moonlight, knocking over a woven fruit basket. Blueberries bounced across the floor like tiny stars.

The force with which Dai Lixing tore open his clothes startled a night heron outside the window. His wheat-colored back muscles rippled under the moonlight like ocean waves.

Ji Xiaosong’s nails dug into the nape of his neck. The silk dress tangled around their waists like a silver river.

The wooden floorboards creaked like the tide with their movements, the sound mingling with intermittent whimpers that drifted toward the open window.

The night wind swept in, carrying the tart scent of tomato leaves, but it couldn’t dissipate the steam and heat that filled the room.

Everything fell into place.

...

The next day’s morning light seeped through the blinds like honey, tracing a golden thread across the bridge of Dai Lixing’s nose.

Ji Xiaosong propped herself up on an elbow, lying on her side. Her index finger hovered, brushing against his lowered eyelashes.

The crow-feather-like shadows trembled slightly, casting faint ripples over her fingertip with each breath.

The silk sheet had slipped down to her waist, revealing a faint red bite mark on his collarbone.

Outside, the cucumber vines swayed in the morning breeze, their dewy tendrils silently coiling around the wooden bars of the security grille.

Ji Xiaosong suddenly covered the mark with her palm, as if by doing so she could melt the memories—the whimpers on the wooden floor, the soft patter of rolling blueberries, the veins bulging on his back—into his skin.

’His eyelashes are so long,’

Ji Xiaosong sighed to herself, her fingertip ghosting over the lingering flush at the corner of his eye.

Dai Lixing frowned in his sleep. His wheat-colored chest rose and fell with his breathing, like a moon-kissed beach at high tide.

Ji Xiaosong suddenly grabbed a corner of the sheet and pressed it into his palm, watching as his knuckles turned white while he unconsciously clenched the fabric.

When she rolled out of bed, the wooden floor let out a sharp creak. She padded barefoot across the scattered clothes.

The chill of the morning dew crept up her ankles. Ji Xiaosong paused for three seconds in front of the vanity mirror, hooking the fallen strap of her slip back over her reddened shoulder.

The mirror reflected the man’s curled back, the vertebrae of his spine like a slumbering mountain range.

As her index finger touched Dai Lixing’s temple, the sparrows on the tomato trellis suddenly fluttered away.

A fine silver light seeped from her fingertip into the man’s sweaty brow. In the cracks of the floor, the blueberries spilled last night were slowly fading to a grayish-purple.

Ji Xiaosong watched as the furrow in his brow gradually smoothed out and his breathing became deep and steady again, as if all the feverish bites and tangled limbs had been nothing more than a midsummer afternoon’s illusion.

Finally, she pulled the thin blanket up to his chin. The stir of air from her turning disturbed the floating dust motes.

Dai Lixing rolled over in the patches of golden light. The scratch marks on the back of his neck slowly faded with the flow of silver light, like a sand painting erased by the waves at low tide.

The faint clinking of glass bottles came from the kitchen. Ji Xiaosong stuffed two fresh tomatoes into her canvas bag. As the wooden door closed, a small brass bell shivered out a string of cool, trembling notes.

"Song, what did you just do to Dai Lixing?"

Rongrong floated over, having just noticed something different about Ji Xiaosong.

"Nothing much. I just erased his memory of last night."

"Song, you erased his memory. Do you really plan on not getting involved with him in the future?"

"Not exactly. It’s just for now. With his personality, after what happened between us last night, he would definitely insist on taking me back to the Main Star. But I haven’t forgotten about my child in this life. He wants to be a farmer."

"That’s true. Wa Star is a good place for farming. We can decide what to do after the child is grown. Maybe the situation will have stabilized by then."

"Mhm. When the time comes, I’ll let the child choose. If he wants this father, I’ll take him to find Dai Lixing. Until then, I’ll ensure Dai Lixing’s safety first."

Ji Xiaosong sat on Rongrong, floating all the way to the seaside.

"Song, what are we doing here?"

"This is the place on all of Wa Star with the most abundant Spiritual Energy. I’m going to gather the Spiritual Energy into a ball here and place it in Dai Lixing’s heart. That way, if he ever gets injured or poisoned, this ball of Spiritual Energy can protect him and ensure he lives a long, safe life."

Ji Xiaosong sat cross-legged on Rongrong’s back, tucking the hem of her dress under her knees.

She clasped her hands together and raised them over her head. The sea breeze, carrying a salty mist, swirled between her fingers, gradually condensing into a shimmering blue speck of light in her palms.

"Not bad, not bad. It really can gather Spiritual Energy."

Ji Xiaosong continued to rub her hands together. As she did so faster and faster, the speck of light gradually solidified into an orb the size of a ping-pong ball.

But... why was there a layer of salt frost on the surface?

Uh...

"Rongrong, let me borrow some of your cloud fluff."

"Go ahead."

Ji Xiaosong wrapped the Spiritual Power Ball in a wisp of cloud, kneading it over and over like a ball of dough.

The scent of sulfur in the cloud fluff quickly absorbed all the salt, which she then shook off back into the sea.

"Done."

Ji Xiaosong patted Rongrong. "Let’s go. We’ll head back now and put the Spiritual Power Ball into Dai Lixing’s heart."
