When a Blade of Grass Wants to Become Immortal
Chapter 197 - 193: Interstellar Deserted Star Farm Woman 4
Chapter 197: Chapter 193: Interstellar Deserted Star Farm Woman 4
Ji Xiaosong had never encountered a situation where she found the child’s father completely unacceptable, but there was no guarantee she wouldn’t in the future. So, she was relatively happy to learn she could switch.
"I thought I’d be stuck with just one person forever. I never expected I could switch. I’ll worry about it if I ever need to, but for now, I’ll focus on the present."
Ji Xiaosong checked Dai Lixing’s pulse and found that not only was he poisoned, but his internal organs were also severely injured.
She took out an Essence Pill she had refined herself. After he took one, his internal organs began to heal slowly.
The poison, however, was a bit tricky. She had never encountered it before, so she could only set it aside to study later.
About fifteen minutes later, Dai Lixing slowly woke up. When he looked at Ji Xiaosong, his gaze was completely clear.
"Who are you?"
"The one who saved you. Just call me Ji Xiaosong."
Ji Xiaosong moved to check his pulse, but to her surprise, he suddenly recoiled in fear.
"Thank you, but why did you save me? Am I injured?"
"Of course. You weren’t just injured, you nearly died. If I hadn’t pulled you into my house in time, you would’ve been eaten by those vines outside."
Hearing that he could have been eaten, Dai Lixing frowned.
"Somehow, I don’t feel like I’m that fragile."
Ji Xiaosong was stunned by his words.
’Isn’t it obvious whether you’re weak or not?’
"You don’t have amnesia, do you?"
"Amnesia? No, I remember I was piloting a spaceship."
Ji Xiaosong’s expression was clearly one of disbelief. She looked at Dai Lixing and said:
"Do you remember your name?"
He looked down at the nameplate on his chest and pointed.
"Doesn’t it say Dai Lixing right here? That’s me."
Ji Xiaosong didn’t call him out on it. ’If he says he doesn’t have amnesia, then so be it. It’s not important anyway.’
"Your spaceship is severely damaged. This is Wa Star; there’s nothing here but forests, lakes, and various wild beasts. In all likelihood, your ship can’t be repaired here. You’ll have to figure out how to leave on your own."
After saying her piece, Ji Xiaosong paid no mind to Dai Lixing’s thoughts. His body wasn’t in critical condition anymore, and the poison couldn’t be dealt with for the time being, so it was best to just ignore it.
"By the way, this house is mine. It’s the only place to live on all of Wa Star. And since my house only has one bedroom, you’ll be sleeping on the couch."
With that, Ji Xiaosong turned to leave.
"GROWL..."
The sound of a stomach growling echoed. Ji Xiaosong glanced at Dai Lixing, whose face instantly flushed red all the way to his ears.
"Do... do you have any food here?"
"Food? What kind of food do you want to eat?"
Although Ji Xiaosong didn’t know much about the interstellar society, she knew that besides nutrient solutions, most other edible things were very expensive.
For instance, the fruit trees and tender grasses around her house were almost all toxic.
The original owner of this body had been dirt poor—so poor she didn’t even have a Star Network account.
So even now, Ji Xiaosong had no idea what kind of status Dai Lixing held.
But as the number one War God, she figured the food he was used to probably wasn’t too bad.
"I don’t know what you have here. If possible, anything that can fill my stomach will do."
"I have lots of things to eat here. I’ll do my best to make whatever you want, but you’ll have to pay in Star Coins."
The body’s original owner didn’t have a single cent to her name. Although Ji Xiaosong wanted to be a farmer, she first needed to understand this world.
If she could learn a lot of skills in this technological world, things would be much easier when she went to a modern world later on.
Right now, the fastest way to earn Star Coins was right in front of her. She had to earn her first pot of gold before she could study and do other things.
"Alright. You can put it on my tab."
Ji Xiaosong’s eyes instantly lit up like two little stars, and she almost couldn’t resist spinning in a circle right then and there.
’After traveling through several worlds, this is the first time I feel like my cooking skills can finally be put to good use.’
"Just a moment!"
She dashed into the kitchen with light steps, boiling water and kneading dough in a series of remarkably fluid motions.
"Dai Lixing, there’s spinach in the vegetable garden by the door. Go pull up a few stalks. Look for the dark green vegetable with pointed leaves and stems like red chopsticks. The leaves are glossy on top and coarse on the back. Don’t pull the round-leafed bok choy next to it; get the one with the wavy-edged leaves."
Ji Xiaosong suddenly remembered she only had dough for noodles but no vegetables, which probably wouldn’t taste very good. She quickly sent Dai Lixing to pick some.
Dai Lixing, who had been waiting in the living room, froze when he heard her. ’Spinach... What’s that?’
He wanted to ask Ji Xiaosong, but he saw she was busy kneading dough and probably didn’t have time to answer him.
’Forget it,’ he thought. ’I’ll just go take a look.’
When he got to the garden, he could finally see clearly by the light from the doorway.
The entire vegetable garden was planted with numerous vegetables and fruits, all of which were growing incredibly well. If not for his long-practiced self-restraint, he really would have plucked one of the colorful little tomatoes before him and taken a bite.
Resisting the temptation with a pang of regret, he finally found the spinach.
Thinking about his appetite, he pulled up thirty stalks.
He carried the huge pile of spinach into the kitchen, where Ji Xiaosong, who had just finished kneading the dough, was utterly shocked.
"Why did you pick so much spinach? Can you even finish it all?"
"I have a big appetite. This bit of dough you’ve made won’t be enough for me."
"Fine, but the price in Star Coins will have to go up."
"Fine. Charge whatever you want. I’m very rich."
Dai Lixing put the spinach in the washing basin to the side, then opened his Star Coin account.
"See? With a balance this high, it’s more than enough to pay you. Tell me your Star Coin account number, and I’ll transfer it to you now."
Ji Xiaosong stared at the long string of numbers, trying to count the digits. She nearly lost count.
"I don’t have a Star Coin account number."
"You don’t? Then how can I transfer it to you?"
"I’ll have one after I go and register for an account."
"Alright."
Dai Lixing said no more. He just stood quietly beside Ji Xiaosong, watching as she added more water to the pot and more flour and water to the mixing bowl, preparing to knead again.
"What are you just standing here for? If you’ve got nothing to do, go wash the vegetables."
"I... I wanted to ask if the fruits and vegetables in your garden are edible. If they are, I’d like to pay to buy them."
Those fruits and vegetables looked incredibly tempting, and he was desperate to try a bite.
"You can. I’ll add it to your tab later. Pick whatever you want to eat. The produce here grows very quickly, so don’t worry about eating it all."
Hearing Ji Xiaosong’s answer, Dai Lixing rushed out without another word.
He had already sensed a feeling of clarity spreading through his body just from being near the produce. If he actually ate it, he might be able to recall some of his lost memories.
Ji Xiaosong hadn’t guessed wrong. He did have amnesia, but it wasn’t total. It felt as if his life was fragmented and disconnected.
He couldn’t remember what had happened during certain important periods at all.
Arriving at the vegetable garden, Dai Lixing picked a cucumber, wiped it on his clothes, and started eating.
He took a bite of cucumber, then a bite of a small tomato.
Just as he’d expected, the moment the food entered his mouth, all the meridians in his body seemed to become even more clear and unobstructed.
