I peeked outside the corridor, feeling a little irritated right now since I have yet to find the exit to this floor yet and I was supposed to be speedrunning this place to begin with.

Now there’s something laughing out there and it felt like they were laughing at me for failing to catch the nurse.

I looked around for the source of the laughter and I realised that the corridor seemed different now.

It still looked like the rundown and broken hospital but instead of just a corridor that stretched to the left and right, it had turned into a large hallway that had other rooms around the hall and a waiting area in the centre.

The hall was not empty either, as it looked like there were shadowy figures standing around or occupying the seats that were not broken, though all of them lacked any discernible features as they were all wrapped in shadows.

The sound of the laughter seemed to be drifting from somewhere else as it echoed around the hall, making it sound like it was coming from all around me.

When I stepped out of the ward, I felt a sudden shift behind me and turned back to see the room had changed.

Instead of the ward that I had been in earlier, it was now a padded room, like the ones that crazy people would be kept in while wearing a straight jacket.

In fact... Looking closely, the rooms around the hall were all leading to padded cells like the one behind me, though all of them were disused and falling apart.

The shadowy figures did not react to my presence as I walked past them, opting to find the source of the laughter instead.

With the appearance of the padded rooms, I was assuming whatever was making that laughing sound was definitely not of a sound mind.

Then again... In a place like this... I’m pretty sure there wasn’t such a thing as anything with a sound mind here.

Aside from me of course, tee hee~

I moved through the hallway, taking care not to touch any of the shadowy figures as I tried to find the source of the laughing sounds.

That was when I heard a creaking sound coming from the right of the hall from inside one of the rooms and I turned to see what looked like a human anatomical model standing at the doorway.

It was one of those models where it had half a face while the rest of the body had the skin layer cut away to reveal the muscles and organs that would be underneath the human body.

Hmm...

I looked away for a moment, counting the seconds before turning back to look again.

The model was now a few steps out of the room and seemed to be making its way towards me.

Really? Didn’t I already deal with those mannequins back at the school level already? Why would this level have another entity that does the same thing? What’s this one going to do differently?

I decided to ignore it for now and just went towards the main corridor that led away from the hall, checking to see if I could discern the source of the laughing noise or where it might come from.

Even when I got there, the laughter still sounded like it was coming from everywhere all at once so I wasn’t sure if it came from a specific direction of the corridor.

I turned to look behind and frowned when I realised the anatomy model was just a few steps behind me, having crossed quite a large distance in a short time which was faster than it had moved earlier.

I went over to it and kicked it, watching it fall over dispassionately as it fell onto the ground and, interestingly, broke apart into pieces like what would happen if you toppled over a real anatomical model.

The models of the organs went flying and even the arm broke off.

Huh... It’s more fragile than I thought...

I ignored it and turned back to face the corridor in front of me, preparing to just start walking down it to see if it led anywhere.

That was when a pair of hands suddenly grabbed my shoulders and turned me around, revealing the fully assembled anatomy model like it had not just fallen over just a few moments ago.

The heck? So it wasn’t dead and could just reassemble itself in an instant?

It then lifted me up and slammed me on the ground, repeating the motion several times as it tried to kill me by doing that.

Well... It err... Kind of felt like I was being slammed down on a fluffy bed with how hard he was slamming me, which is to say it wasn’t that hard at all.

It kept going for about a minute and I think it realised that despite slamming me down like this repeatedly, I was showing no signs of being hurt so it stopped.

I raised an eyebrow at it, "Are you done?"

It was in fact, not done, so it went ahead to give me a few more slams on the ground.

I got a little annoyed so when it tried to lift me up again, I delivered an open palm slap across its face, separating the head from the body with that blow.

Unfortunately, that didn’t seem to kill it and it slammed me back on the ground again so this time I grabbed both its arms and crushed them in my grip, separating them from its body.

I then gave the model a kick to send it flying towards the wall, watching it shatter apart on the wall with its pieces exploding all around the hall like a pinata.

I tossed the broken arms to the side and looked away for a few moments before looking back, checking to see if the anatomy model had reassembled itself again.

Fortunately, it did not so I continued forward down the corridor.

I wasn’t sure if it was because I broke the anatomy model or it was because I stepped into the corridor, but the shadowy figures seemed to become restless and were vibrating on the spot rather ominously.

I didn’t get very far before what looked like a surgeon in scrubs stepped out from one of the doors in the corridor, stopping in the centre before he turned to face me menacingly.

His face was half covered by his surgical mask and hair cover which left his eyes visible... Except for the fact that he had no eyes and his eye sockets were just hollowed out blackness.

He had a rusty scalpel in his hands and he immediately started running towards me when he saw me, swinging his scalpel around clearly intending to cut me with it.

Err... Ok...

I reached out my hand and materialised my Light Sword, not even bothering to swing it and just held it out at an arms length with the tip pointed at the surgeon.

He ran straight into my sword, my blade piercing through his neck which resulted in him bleeding out a copious amount of black blood.

For a moment, it looked like the surgeon glitched out before reforming back, the guy gurgling on his blood.

I placed my heel against his chest and kicked him off my sword, watching dispassionately as he fell back on the ground, bleeding out all over the floor.

That was when I realised that the laughing had stopped.

Before I could suspect that the laughing came from the surgeon I just killed, the entire space around me seemed to twist and contract before suddenly expanding again, the corridor I was standing in now three times bigger in size.

The ground then started to shake quite violently and somewhere down the corridor, I heard the sound of a door being smashed open.

Then it was another smash... And another one... And another one... And then it was an entire chorus of doors smashing of their hinges that seemed to be coming towards me in a wave.

The corridor also got even darker and it looked like a wave of darkness was rolling towards me starting from the far end of the corridor.

I held my Light Sword at my side, wondering what was going to happen when I realised there was a glowing pair of eyes and a smiling mouth full of sharp teeth that was flying towards me, riding the rolling darkness like some kind of wave.

I would say a normal person might start running at this point but... I just stood my ground, watching the smiling face get closer and closer until it got within range and I activated my sword’s enchantment.

My blade was wrapped in light and I slashed it diagonally downwards, cutting the face into two and slicing it apart before it could touch me.

The face disappeared like mist and I was expecting it to end there but... Looking at the corridor the face had come from... I realised that there was an entire group of different entities that were charging straight towards me.

Err... You guys really came all this way for me?
