Chapter 533 - 293: Sudden Attack! Only Death Can Wash Away Hatred!

  • Next Chapter

The Dragon Knight suddenly spoke, his voice calm.

"Elder Pence, I admit I don’t know what role you played in the Dragon Eater Association and all its conspiracies... but my gut tells me one thing. You’ve been in agony this whole time, haven’t you?"

Elder Pence said, "Seize Constantine! Seize him! He’s trying to kill me, can’t you see!?"

But aside from the Griffin Knights taking a step forward, the other Law Enforcers didn’t move.

Aside from the wealthy and powerful Westminster Cathedral backing the Dragon Knight, there was another, more practical reason: the Dragon Knight hadn’t actually attacked. They had no justification to apprehend him.

"Are you afraid? All because I spoke of your suffering?"

Elder Pence ordered the Celestial Horse Knight Commander, leader of the Templar Knights, "Kill him."

But the Celestial Horse Knight Commander didn’t move. If they attacked before Baron Constantin did, they would be making an enemy of Westminster Cathedral.

There was an unwritten rule on the Inner Side: until Westminster Cathedral had repaid its debts, you did not, under any circumstances, burn your bridges with them.

The Celestial Horse Knight Commander’s only job was to ensure Elder Pence’s safety. He had no desire to get involved in any of the other convoluted politics.

"It’s right to be afraid. For someone whose body isn’t even their own," the Dragon Knight said, his voice cutting like steel, "how could their soul possibly be genuine?!"

The Elders of the Old Blood Clan and the high-ranking Law Enforcers exchanged stunned glances, while the younger ones began whispering amongst themselves.

The Dragon Knight’s words were an information bombshell. They didn’t want to believe him, but seeing the livid expression on Elder Pence’s face... it forced them to consider the implications.

Enraged, Elder Pence banged his cane against the helmet of the Griffin Knight in front of him. "Seize him!"

The Griffin Knights finally moved.

But before the Griffin Knights could act, a change came over the Dragon Knight.

Gold flooded his pupils once more.

A murderous aura, so dense it felt tangible, swept out from him and across the field.

The Griffin Knights closest to him reacted instantly, thrusting their spears forward and running the Dragon Knight through the chest.

But before they could celebrate, the impaled figure of the Dragon Knight exploded.

The force of the blast sent the nearest few Griffin Knights flying, leaving behind only unnoticed scraps of yellow paper where he had stood.

Isabella looked at the scraps of paper. "Doing this isn’t helping him, it’s hurting him."

The little Paperman on Isabella’s shoulder steadied itself against her cheek and sat, its two tiny paper legs dangling. "What choice is there? You’re helping him so much, Isabella. As your sister, how could I not do the same?"

Howard looked at the deep crater from the explosion and said to Stella, "I think Constantine may have lied to you."

Stella said, "In that case, I’m docking his performance bonus and salary when we get back."

Howard sighed. "But what can you do? He’s a double S-Level. I should have realized. A Destiny that powerful is something neither of us can predict or control."

"The Dragon Knight? Where is he!?"

The Griffin Knights quickly formed a phalanx of spears, shielding the panicked Elder Pence. Several Bronze Tier Knights darted out from the rear, positioning themselves on all sides to search for the Dragon Knight.

And then the Griffin Knights found him.

To be more precise, it was impossible *not* to see the Dragon Knight, who was now wreathed in roaring flames.

This fire was different from any Dragon Flame before it. It was a strange, silvery-white, and it seemed to burn without any heat.

The heatless flames then spread forward from behind the Dragon Knight, appearing to embrace the Baron. Soon, he was completely consumed by the white fire, leaving only two brilliantly glowing Golden Eyes visible within the inferno.

His majesty was too brilliant to look at directly. It was as if a sun had risen from the darkness, turning everything to day.

The appearance of this daylight seemed to bring an extraordinary change to Traitor’s Cliff. The Wizards who had been meditating and the Celestial Horse Knights who had been serving as living power sources all snapped their eyes open, drawn to the brilliance like moths to a flame.

Wizard K’s pupils constricted. "The color of this flame is..."

"Baron Constantin isn’t contracted to a Pure-blood Ancient Dragon... or rather, not *just* a Pure-blood Ancient Dragon."

Silver Lion Wilder watched the burning Dragon Knight in silence. "The Silver Lion King once said that only a Dragon King can possess this kind of white flame."

"You mean... Baron Constantin might have a contract with a Dragon King?" Wizard K was stunned. "How is that possible?"

His expression shifted again. "The Mad Dragon is starting to break the seal again! Everyone, into formation, now!"

「Meanwhile, on the other side.」

Before the Law Enforcers could react, the Dragon Knight had already used his Spiritual Pressure and Dragon Mighty to blast away those around him. He hurled the Golden Dragon Spear, and in the brief moment the Law Enforcers were stunned by the Dragon Mighty, he shot forward like an arrow. His form blurred into a flash of yellow light, streaking toward the heavily guarded Elder Pence.

The faces of all present drained of color.

"He’s really trying to assassinate Elder Pence!" a Knight screamed, his voice raw.

"Heavens!" someone shrieked. "Has he gone mad!?"

The Law Enforcers surged forward to stop him. The Celestial Horse Knight Commander from the Holy Hall rushed out first, raising his longsword to block Baron Constantin’s path.

Peering through the silver flames, he suppressed the terror in his heart and met that pair of Golden Eyes. His voice was grim. "Baron Constantin, do you have any idea what you’re doing!? You are trampling on the laws of the Inner Side and the dignity of the Order of the Old Race!"
