Chapter 527 290: The Dragon Knight Returns (4)
A glint flashed in Elder Pence's eyes.
"Oh no!" Some of the Law Enforcers realized what was happening and moved to follow, but it was too late.
Isabella acted decisively, hurling her Red Spear at the Lion-eyed Knight. But her aim was off by a hair's breadth; it only struck his left hand, while he held his sword in his right.
Thus, she could only watch helplessly as the blade sank into the Dragon Knight's chest.
CLANG!
The sword was stopped!
A golden spear, entwined with nine Dragon Patterns—the Golden Dragon Spear!
CRACK!
The spear shattered the sword.
Elder Pence's expression changed.
A turbulent wave of Spiritual Pressure erupted from the Dragon Knight, blasting away the Law Enforcers who held him at swordpoint.
It also sent the Lion-eyed Knight tumbling.
The Dragon Knight gripped the Golden Dragon Spear, his stance perfectly centered. After a moment of stillness, he stomped the ground and shot forward like a panther leaping from the brush, thrusting the Dragon Spear toward the stunned Elder Pence's head.
"Damn it!"
Gold, Adam, the Celestial Horse Knight Commander, and Battle Sister Lian all turned back, but just like Isabella, they could only watch helplessly as the spear flew toward Elder Pence, ready to pierce him through.
Baron's gaze was a laser, fixed on the point of his spear and on the man who was likely the cause of all his current misfortunes—Elder Pence!
'I have to kill him. I have to kill him right here, in front of the Law Enforcement Organization and all these Old Blood Clans… Yes, this is it!'
With his resolve clear, Baron's Essence, Qi, and Spirit unified. He perfectly channeled his Spiritual Power into the Golden Dragon Spear, and the nine Dragon Patterns began to writhe along the shaft, letting out a series of roars that sounded like a true dragon's cry!!!
The spear's thrust was a straight line, its tip a point of condensed golden light.
But just as Baron watched the tip of his spear about to pierce Elder Pence's aged face, someone behind the Elder extended a single finger.
His pupils contracted to pinpricks.
Because that finger had touched the tip of his Dragon Spear.
Then, he simply "stopped."
It was an absolute stop, as if an immovable wall had suddenly materialized before him. And Baron, moving with the force of a hundred-ton truck at full speed, slammed right into it.
Crashing into a wall is never pleasant, even for Baron, a Dev whose body had been enhanced by two classes.
He could feel his internal organs shifting from the force of the impact. The bones throughout his body dislocated with a series of sharp cracks, like a string of firecrackers. If this had happened in North America, the locals would have thought a gang war had broken out over turf.
Baron let out a muffled grunt. A sweet taste filled his throat, and he nearly coughed up a mouthful of blood, but he managed to suppress it with his Blood Demon Hunter abilities.
Terrified, he gripped his spear and leaped back, landing beside Isabella before turning his gaze to the owner of the finger.
He was an old man with thick, white hair and even thicker eyebrows. He wore a faded, ochre-colored cowboy hat, an unshaven jaw, and had a Tiger-brand cigarette dangling from his lips. A double-barreled shotgun was slung over his shoulder. He looked exactly like an old cowboy from Texas, just back from a hunt.
But one could not mistake him for a simple cowboy. Not when he had stopped what was essentially Baron's full-power attack—delivered with the Golden Dragon Spear—with a single finger.
That strike had contained all of Baron's Essence, Qi, and Spirit. Even a Pseudo-Silver would have had to dodge it; there would be no blocking it.
Yet the Old Cowboy had caught it, and he looked relaxed—so relaxed it seemed that stopping the spear was as trivial to him as stretching and yawning.
At the sight of the Old Cowboy, the expressions of all the Law Enforcers present changed dramatically. The Beast Hunters, in particular, led by Adam Van Helsing and Dewey Frank, grew pale, as if recalling a terrible memory.
'To Baron, it felt like he was watching rabbits see a hawk.'
'Who is this old man?' Baron's expression was grim. 'Anyone who can block a strike I put my all into with a single finger... it goes without saying that his power completely eclipses my own.'
The Old Cowboy glanced at a single drop of blood that had beaded on the calloused tip of his index finger. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes. "A Silver Tier strike. The legendary Dragon Knight truly lives up to his reputation."
"You're Baron Constantin?" the Old Cowboy asked.
"And you are...?" Baron asked, silently infusing the [Illusory Cocoon] with his Spiritual Power, preparing to flee at a moment's notice.
"Abraham Van Helsing," the Old Cowboy said with a smile. "A Golden Beast Hunting Demon Hunter."
'Gold... Golden Tier! This old man is actually a Golden Tier!'
Baron's pupils constricted. Without a second thought, he activated the [Illusory Cocoon]. A staircase materialized, but Abraham shattered it with a casual blast from his shotgun before it could even fully form.
Literally shattered.
Meanwhile, when the Old Cowboy announced his identity, a shocked uproar erupted from the surrounding Law Enforcers, their professional composure utterly broken.
"Abraham Van Helsing! The Golden Tier from the Demon Hunter Association's Beast Faction! The Demon Hunter who slew the Hundred-Headed Serpent!"
"Not just the serpent! I heard that during World War II, he also killed a revived Count of the Blood Race!"
"A Golden Tier Demon Hunter... To think he'd come in person, and all for the Dragon Knight, Baron Constantin."
Abraham bent down and picked up a splinter from the shattered staircase. "Hmm. A strong aura of the Mysterious Law. This must be an S Level Taboo Item."
"But don't you worry. A Taboo Item of this level can repair itself through the power of the Mysterious Law."
He tossed a pair of handcuffs to Baron. "Alright, Mr. Dragon Knight. Now, please be a good lad, put these on, and come with me back to the Demon Hunter Association for questioning."
Elder Pence said urgently, "Mr. Abraham, Baron Constantin is a heinous criminal! Why not execute him on the spot?"
