Chapter 526 289: Dragon Knight's Return (3)
Before, he might have looked like an ordinary young man—albeit a handsome one—whose face was pale from too many late nights and too much overtime. Now, however, he radiated an awe-inspiring, unstoppable aura, like a famous sword flashing its edge as it's drawn from the sheath.
Gold, Adam, and the other Demon Hunters, all keenly perceptive of killing intent, sensed something was wrong. "Be careful! Protect Elder Pence!"
The other Law Enforcers came to a sudden realization, but it was too late. The Baron, wielding two blades, had already appeared behind them.
No one knew how he had gotten there. Even the Griffin Knight with the sharpest vision only caught a fleeting black shadow in the corner of his eye. By the time they registered what had happened, the Dragon Knight was already locked in a fierce battle with the Knights, Demon Hunters, and Battle Nuns blocking the way to Elder Pence.
There were Bronze Tiers and Black Iron Tiers among them, many attacking the lone Dragon Knight. Yet, the Dragon Knight's blades whistled through the air, and he didn't give an inch. This display left the elite Law Enforcers dumbfounded, but at the same time, it ignited a fierce fighting spirit within them.
'So this is a Dragon Knight... If I can defeat him, I'll make a name for myself on the Inner Side!'
For the young Law Enforcers, renown was the most revered currency on the Inner Side. With renown came money, status, women... everything!
The young Law Enforcers exchanged a glance, each seeing the eager ambition in the others' eyes. Then, spears and swords in hand, they charged into the battle.
"Aren't you going to help him?" a Paperman asked, standing on Isabella's shoulder.
"No need." Isabella gazed at the Red Spear in her hands, her mind flashing back to the moment the Baron had effortlessly stopped her attack with a single grasp. "It seems our dear Dragon Knight is still holding back," she said faintly.
The Baron kicked a young Demon Hunter away, sent a young Knight flying with a punch, and then reverse-gripped both of his blades. From an unbelievable stance, he began to slash furiously!
The Law Enforcers couldn't withstand this furious assault and were beaten back again and again. Even the slender, long-legged Nun with long, straight black hair, who charged in once more, was sent flying dozens of meters the moment their weapons clashed.
The Knights and Demon Hunters, who could barely parry a single furious slash, were secretly terrified. Was a so-called Dragon Knight just a monster wielding the power of the Dragon Race?
One of the Lion-eyed Knights, who had rushed over from the auction, was struck by a furious slash and had a sudden realization. "You're that attendant from the auction!" he exclaimed in shock.
His answer was a second slash.
And with that, the Knight went flying like a kite with a snapped string.
Gold flew back in retreat, stopping beside the Dewey brothers, who were watching the show—Zick had been saved by Jiang Ge's [Mercy].
He looked at Dewey. "Why aren't you fighting!?"
Dewey shrugged. "I never take unnecessary risks."
Gold cursed inwardly. 'All that talk just means you know you can't beat him.' Then, he activated Beastification again and staggered back into the fray.
A vicious determination filled him. He refused to believe the Dragon Knight could really escape unscathed from a siege by so many people!
"Aile, I'm surprised you're still alive. I really thought you'd died back at the ruins of the Dragon Family's estate."
Zick watched Baron Constantin rampage through the battlefield like a Mad Dragon, then turned his head toward Aile in the distance. He sent a message with his Spiritual Power, "Didn't you once say you'd stand a fighting chance if you ran into Baron Constantin? Well, there he is. Not thinking of giving it a shot?"
For once, Aile was silent. Then, he said grimly, "I said if we were on the same tier."
Meanwhile, as the battle between the Dragon Knight and the encircling Law Enforcers intensified, the expressions of some onlookers waiting for an opportunity on the sidelines began to change.
They realized that from the very beginning until now, the Dragon Knight was like a tireless machine, endlessly repeating the same slashing motions with extreme precision.
"That guy... Is he a monster?"
'He IS a monster...' some of the Templar Knights who had participated in the auction siege wanted to shout. But, afraid of embarrassing the Templar Knights, they ultimately kept their mouths shut.
All of Baron Constantin's slashes were aimed at Elder Pence. The Law Enforcers realized this and focused their defenses around the Elder.
"Elder Pence, you should leave now! Baron Constantin is targeting you, and we're afraid..."
An Elder from an Old Blood Clan tried to warn Elder Pence, but Elder Pence cut him off. "No need. I want to stay here and watch."
He said coldly, "And watch as Baron Constantin pays the price for his insolence."
No sooner had the words left his mouth than a gunshot rang out, followed by a clear DING! A spark flashed three inches in front of Elder Pence.
Battle Nun Camilla, gripping her large blade, turned back to Elder Pence and said, "Elder Pence, that block was worth at least one hundred thousand pounds. I hope you'll be transferring it to my bank account after the fight."
She glanced at the Baron, who was pulling back his blade after firing. "A weapon that combines a gun and a sword? How interesting."
Several more gunshots rang out. This time, Camilla didn't block the bullets with her blade. Instead, they all slammed into the body of Faith Knight Jiang Ge.
[Humility], one of the Eight Virtues, forcibly redirects any enemy attack within a one-meter radius to one's own body, where it is absorbed by the Secret Silver Heart.
Elvin looked at Jiang Ge, who now had several large, bleeding holes in his body. "Isn't your Secret Silver Heart gone? Why would you still use [Humility]?"
The Faith Knight Jiang Ge's face twitched, and cold sweat poured down his forehead from the pain. "I forgot."
Elvin: "..."
"First Daughter... should we join them...?" one of the Dragon Slayers asked Isabella, wiping away cold sweat as he watched more and more Law Enforcers join the fight.
"Prepare enough Gold. We're going to hire the best lawyer on the Inner Side for Baron Constantin," Isabella said. "The Beowulf Family needs the Golden Dragon Spear and its master, regardless of whether he is a member of the Beowulf Family."
The Dragon Slayers understood. It seemed the First Daughter believed that Baron Constantin would be unable to break out of the Law Enforcers' encirclement under these circumstances.
But that was only to be expected. With so many Law Enforcers, they could drown the Dragon Knight with human-wave tactics alone. Even if the Dragon Knight was a peerless talent with transcendent skills, he couldn't possibly handle so many opponents at once.
And besides... the Dragon Slayers and some of the watching Law Enforcers realized that from the very beginning, the Dragon Knight had not killed a single Law Enforcer who had come forward to attack him.
Didn't this suggest, in a way, that the rumored Lawbreaker who burned, pillaged, and committed every imaginable evil was actually nothing more than a manufactured public image?
Just as the Dragon Slayers had predicted, the battle entered its final stages. The Demon Hunters and even some Wizards who had been observing now joined the fray.
The Dragon Knight was beset on all sides, completely unable to dodge the Magic and spells coming from the shadows. With Saint Elvin adding periodic interference using pages from the Holy Scripture, he was soon drenched in his own blood.
When his two Spear Swords were finally caught in the jaws of the Beastified Adam and Gold, the other Law Enforcers pressed in, holding him at bay with their blades and swords. He looked just like a condemned prisoner in a cart on his way to the execution grounds.
Seeing this, Freya's knuckles turned white as she clenched her fists. The Lancelot Family Head noticed and comforted her, "Don't worry, Freya. I will make him pay dearly for what he did to Anthony."
The Lancelot Clan had only just arrived after receiving the news, so they were unaware that the Baron had previously used the Realm of Full Communication to expose the secrets of the Hestia Family and the Dragon Eater Association.
Elder Pence looked at the surrounded Baron Constantin, and as if having made some sort of decision, he glanced at the Lion-eyed Knight by his side.
"Baron Constantin!" that Lion-eyed Knight suddenly roared. "Pay for Anthony's death!"
Following his roar, everyone around was stunned for a brief moment.
[Lion's Roar]!
He suddenly burst through the Law Enforcers surrounding the Baron, gripped his Longsword, and, taking advantage of their stupor, lunged toward the trapped Dragon Knight's chest.
