Chapter 514 283: Fiancé War (2)

  • Next Chapter

He had heard of this ancient technique, exclusive to Silver Demon Hunters. It was said to have been developed thousands of years ago by Silver Demon Hunters to hunt those tainted by Demon's Blood.

Later, for certain reasons, the Professional Law War erupted in Britain, and this technique was subsequently used on the battlefield between Silver Demon Hunters and Knights.

If not for the sudden emergence of the Contract Knight profession, it's possible that the Law of the Knight Profession would have collapsed.

'But this technique, logically speaking, should only be passed down among the old-school Old Bloods of the Silver Faction. And due to certain skill-based limitations, only specific Demon Hunters can master it. So how did Baron Constantin, a Dragon Knight, learn this art?'

With no time to think, the Celestial Horse Knight gave a low grunt. His Spiritual Power surged as he tried to draw back his sword and retreat.

But the Dragon Knight gave him no such chance. Instead, he pressed closer, his blade winding around the knight's sword like a vine.

Under this assault, the Celestial Horse Knight could barely even hold onto his sword.

He suddenly recalled what he'd said to the Wild Boar Knight earlier. It seemed now that the other man's inability to hold his weapon wasn't his fault after all; this guy in front of him was truly strange.

But no matter what, a Knight could never lose his weapon. That would be far too humiliating, especially in front of this group of elites he had tormented for so long in the Dracula Mountain Range.

The Celestial Horse Knight gritted his teeth. Wings like an Angel's unfurled from his back, beating furiously. The gale they produced forced everyone nearby to squeeze their eyes shut.

He used this thrust to push back against Baron Constantin.

Baron Constantin, however, remained perfectly still. His mesmerizing Golden Eyes scanned the wings as an artist might study a masterpiece.

He said, "Your wings are much prettier than those of the Griffin Knights."

Then came an exceptionally crisp sound, like a stiff sheet of paper being torn. The Celestial Horse Knight's sword shattered.

The Celestial Horse Knight Commander's face fell. He saw the blood-soaked blade coming for his face, a red arc swinging through the empty darkness.

Then, just like the Wild Boar Knight before him, he was sent flying backward. He crashed through dozens of fine birch trees, and the successive sounds of their collapse made those who had been about to attack the Dragon Knight subconsciously hold their breath and slow their steps.

A Bronze Tier Celestial Horse Knight... defeated by the Dragon Knight in a single exchange.

The Law Enforcers on the sidelines were stunned.

The previously nonchalant Templar Knights instantly grew solemn.

They exchanged a look, a silent agreement passing between them, then brandished their weapons and began to close in on Baron.

Even their instructor, the Celestial Horse Knight, had been defeated. They didn't think they could take on the legendary Dragon Knight one-on-one.

Elder Pence snapped out of his momentary shock and shouted, "Surround him! Surround this Lawbreaker and don't let him escape! If we can just stall him, we'll have time! Silver Lion Wilder will be here soon!"

Everyone else snapped to attention. The Law Enforcers and Templar Knights surrounded Baron.

Seeing so many people closing in, Baron's expression changed slightly—not out of fear, but because he felt his heart begin to tremble at a specific frequency.

In the real world, this phenomenon might be a cardiovascular disease called "atrial fibrillation."

But this was the Inner Side, a place where science held little sway. Almost without thinking, Baron's mind flew to the red-haired Witch in her red dress.

'It's KK. Something's happened to KK!'

He felt the direction the Blood Covenant was vaguely pointing him toward: Traitor's Cliff.

The exact place where the Mad Dragon was sealed.

Baron felt his heartbeat quicken. He took a deep breath, like a dead man inhaling the last breath of his life.

He looked at the crowd and said, enunciating each word, "I'm in a hurry. Why don't you all just come at me at once?"

After he spoke, an even more ferocious fire ignited around his body. The Extreme heat spread through the area without needing to make contact, igniting the surrounding birch, pine, oak, and beech trees one after another.

If an uninformed person were to stumble upon this scene, they might think some ancient ritual was underway. From a distance, it looked exactly like a burning sacrificial ground encircling a self-immolating Priest.

"Are you performing a sacrifice? In that case, I think you're missing a professional Priest to recite the eulogy and some long-legged, thin-waisted Nuns."

And someone actually said it.

Everyone turned toward the source of the voice. Standing in the darkness were one man and two women.

The man in the cleric's robes was covered in dust and grime, and the women in nun's habits were stained with blood.

It was Saint Elvin of the Holy Mechanism, along with two Battle Nuns.

"What I mean is, if this is a fight, then count me in."

Elvin took out a Cross and split it into two Short Daggers. He then tore a page from a Holy Scripture, lit it with a kerosene lighter, and used it to enchant the two daggers with silver flames.

He stuck a cigarette in his mouth and lit it with the silver flames on one of the daggers. Exhaling smoke, he glanced around at the surrounding Law Enforcers.

"Alright, so how shall we begin the siege on our dear Mr. Dragon Knight? After all, that last Dragon left us in a pretty sorry state."

As soon as the words left his mouth, the sound of something tearing through the air came from above, and several shadows descended.

Everyone looked up and saw the dead Dragon Attendants.

Following the Dragon Attendants, several more people landed. From the dense clatter of Armor, it was easy to guess they were all Knights.

'Great,' Baron thought. 'Now everyone's gathered together to take down the big bad villain.'

When the Knights removed their Face Armor, the Templar Knights let out a collective gasp. "Jill Hestia!"

That's right. The Knights who had just arrived were the Griffin Knights led by Jill Hestia.

Elder Pence's face lit up with joy. He immediately said, "Jill! Baron Constantin just killed your brother without a Judgement!"

Elder Pence said, "We absolutely cannot let this despicable Lawbreaker leave this place!"

Listening to Elder Pence, Baron silently wondered why the cooldown for his Illusory Cocoon wasn't over yet.

His gaze swept across the crowd. There were five or six at the Bronze Tier, his own level, plus so many more at the Black Iron Tier... If he didn't reveal his Blood Faction abilities, he wouldn't be able to handle this with just his Dragon Knight profession.

He touched the Chain of the Goddess of Fortune at his waist. He had activated it just as Roy was about to crush his heart, and he hadn't turned it off since. Logically, he shouldn't be in a situation where he was surrounded on all sides.

'Is the Goddess of Fortune really this useless?'

Jill Hestia listened to Elder Pence, then turned with her Griffin Knights to face Baron. "You killed Roy."

"Your brother also tried to kill me," Baron said. "There's no great shame in being counter-killed, is there?"

"Ooh... a war between Miss Freya's fiancés." Elvin actually whistled at this moment.

This only made the already tense atmosphere even more volatile.

[Baron Constantin's Secret Diary

Plains / (For some unknown reason, the date and weather entries are blank)

When I woke up, I saw that Yelena's legs were gone.

I didn't know how to comfort her, nor how to face Father.

I was filled with guilt.

So that day, I ran away from the Plains.

But later, the butler found me, bringing Yelena with him.

"No, brother, you've never needed my forgiveness."

Yelena, sitting in her wheelchair, struggled to sit up and touch my head.

She gave me a weak smile. "All you've ever needed is for me to be with you when you're lonely and scared."

"And I'm more than willing, brother."

She took my face in her hands and pressed it against her forehead.

It was something our mother often did for us when she was alive.

It's so strange. I should have been the one comforting Yelena for losing her legs.

But in the end, she was the one comforting me endlessly.

I am not a good brother.]
