Chapter 515 284: I Lost.
This only made the already tense atmosphere more charged.
But when Freya heard the man's teasing, she didn't pull rank as the young lady of Lancelot's Family and scold him as she normally would. She simply pressed her lips together and said nothing.
Jill Hestia, however, turned to Elvin, her voice cold. "Mr. Saint, please be more respectful to Miss Freya."
Elvin gave a disgruntled shrug.
Elder Pence said, "Jill, go kill Baron Constantin and avenge your brother.
"Though Roy was a mole for the Dragon Eater Association, that doesn't give a Lawbreaker like Baron Constantin the right to pass judgment on him! Until the Prole Court hands down its final verdict, Roy was still a knight of the Griffin Knight Order, and a descendant of the Hestia Family!"
He then turned to Dewey. "Mr. Dewey, your brother Bill also died at the hands of the Dragon Knight, Baron Constantin. Don't you want to avenge him?"
Dewey's eyebrow twitched almost imperceptibly at the words. He then said lightly, "I would love to help you deal with Baron Constantin, Elder Pence, but my current task is to find my cousin, Zick."
"As you know, Elder Pence, Zick is the prodigy of the Frank Family's younger generation. There's a high probability he'll become a squad leader in the Demon Hunter Association. Therefore, for the greater good, I think Baron..."
He had once believed Baron Constantin killed Bill. But after their battle and everything he had experienced on the dragon's back, he no longer thought Baron Constantin was the murderer.
Besides, the Frank Family had no entangled interests with Baron Constantin. As for the Constantine Family's territory... frankly, based on the intel he'd gathered, Baron Constantin wasn't on good terms with the Constantine Clan—whose nest had been usurped by the Pell Clan.
At the very least, during Baron Constantin's time on the Outer Side, the Constantine Clan had never sent anyone to support him. Furthermore, he could glean as much from the attitude that fellow Pound had toward Baron Constantin.
And that wasn't even mentioning Baron Constantin's incredible fighting prowess. Dewey still hadn't been able to gauge the true limits of the so-called Knight Profession of the Dragon Knight. What's more, Constantin had effortlessly killed Roy, even after he'd transformed into a Dragon Attendant. In comparison, even if their current group managed to defeat him, the cost would be staggering.
Therefore, from a purely pragmatic standpoint, making an enemy of Baron Constantin was not a worthwhile venture.
'I'd better not get involved in this mess,' Dewey thought. 'A wise man knows when to play it safe.'
Elder Pence said, "Young Master Frank, are you implying my decision is wrong? That Baron Constantin shouldn't be killed?"
Dewey Frank replied, "It's not that he shouldn't be killed. But you must have seen the images from the projection, Elder. There may be something strange about the accusations against Baron Constantin. Even if he is to be killed, it should only be after he is captured, taken to the Prole Court for a new trial, and then sentenced."
"I'm just following procedure," Dewey Frank said. "Besides, Elder Pence, you want us to kill Baron Constantin right off the bat. Let's not even discuss whether we *should*—given the power this Dragon Knight has displayed, it's an open question whether we even *can*."
Elder Pence snorted, then looked to the others. "Do the rest of you share Young Master Frank's opinion?"
No one spoke up. There was no need to incur Elder Pence's wrath at a moment like this.
But any discerning eye could see them wavering. Dewey Frank's words had clearly struck a chord.
Baron Constantin listened to Dewey Frank's "loud-whispered conspiracy." He was surprised that this man—who, back in the Dracul Mountain Range, couldn't stop talking about "Constantine"—was now being so practical. Still, he let flames wreath his twin blades, turned to Elder Pence, and spoke in a taunting voice:
"Elder Pence, it's hard to lead a team when their hearts aren't in it. Things would be different if these were your Dragon Eater Association cultists, I imagine?"
Elder Pence erupted in fury. "Constantine! Don't you dare spout such nonsense! I, Pence Hestia, have lived my life with honor and integrity! I may bear some responsibility as a family elder for Roy falling in with an evil cult like the Dragon Eater Association, but that is no excuse for your venomous slander!"
He looked to Jill and the Templar Knights. "Kill him, Jill! Kill him! Avenge your brother Roy! Restore the honor of the Holy Hall!"
The Templar Knights glanced at the Celestial Horse Knight Commander and the Wild Boar Knight, who were still lying beneath a tree. They nodded and charged at Baron Constantin.
But a single sword blocked their path.
The Templar Knights halted, looking in confusion at the one who had stopped them—Jill Hestia.
Even Elder Pence cried out, "Jill, what are you doing?! Baron Constantin is no ordinary Knight!"
Jill Hestia simply said, "He is my opponent, and mine alone."
"Now this is a show," Elvin said, stopping Lian and Camilla, who had been about to charge in as well.
Jill lowered her sword, her expression unreadable as she looked at Baron. "One strike. I will only make one. If you can block it, I'll let you go."
Elder Pence exclaimed, "Jill! What are you saying? Stop this nonsense! Have you forgotten your brother? Have you forgotten the Hestia Family's mission? This man was about to kill me just now!"
