Chapter 472 261: Have You Slept With Him?
"But according to past records, the Dragon Witch always appears alone. There has never been a single confirmed photo of her and the Dragon Eater Association together."
Isabella said, "As for written records, they can be forged, so I don't intend to trust them completely."
Elder Pence nodded but said nothing.
"The Dragon Eater Association? Why would these Lawbreakers be here?" Silver Lion Wilder frowned. "Could it be that the escaped member of the Blood Race is cooperating with them?"
The presence of the Blood Race at the auction was already puzzling enough, and now the Dragon Eater Association was involved as well…
Wilder's sharp, blade-like brows furrowed slightly. His handsome, marble-like face grew pensive, as if he were a newly carved sculpture.
'Something feels very wrong with my head right now.' His thoughts were a tangled mess, like a ball of yarn rolling on the floor, and his mind was a kitten, completely unable to unravel it.
Isabella's gaze swept over the anxious guests. After a pause, she said, "Perhaps it's because everyone at this auction is an important figure from the Inner Side. They might be planning to take hostages to use as leverage."
'Threats…' Wilder's expression grew even more grim. 'The Dragon Eater Association must have some scheme for being here. Then there's the Witch who stole the Red Dragon Reverse Scale and the Dragon Witch who secretly drugged everyone… But with my Silver Tier perception, it should have been impossible for me not to notice any of this.'
A sudden realization struck him. He sent a message to Isabella using his Spiritual Power: "My perception may have been blocked. This whole thing is a premeditated operation."
Isabella nodded. "I noticed it long ago. The elements here are in turmoil. I've lost contact with the Servant Demon I dispatched, and the people sent to scout haven't returned…"
Just then, Zick of the Frank Family came over, claiming to have made a discovery. He clapped his hands, and two Law Enforcers brought forward a disheveled, scantily clad woman—it was Catherine of the Van Helsing Family.
She was Adam Van Helsing's sister, Hamilton's wife, and a famous socialite of the Inner Side.
Catherine's face was flushed, and her exposed skin was so red it looked like it had been roasted over coals. Her hair was a mess, and she was draped in a few coats that had clearly been thrown on in a hurry. A thick stench of alcohol wafted from her, strong enough for the Law Enforcers to smell it from several meters away.
The Demon Hunter, Zick, seemed unsure how to begin. He did his best to remain composed as he said:
"This lady was colluding with two Dragon Devourer Cultists in VIP Room 505. When we broke down the door, they were... engaged in group activities. I suspect she's an undercover agent for the Dragon Eater Association."
The moment he spoke, the expressions on the faces of the Law Enforcers were priceless. Some of the guests, who had been feeling guilty about their own loss of control, now turned their full attention to Catherine.
Their expressions shifted from astonishment to delight, and then they returned to their previous state, whispering amongst themselves with aristocratic politeness.
They also stole occasional glances at the members of the Van Helsing Clan, whose faces were as ashen as the corpses on the floor.
"First Adam, now Catherine. The Van Helsings are really something else. Just what you'd expect from the leaders of the Beast Faction."
"You don't get it. The higher their station, the wilder their games. No one dares to rein them in. If you don't believe me, just look at Catherine's husband."
The guests' gazes shifted to Hamilton, who stood to the side, having just recovered from the [Blood Control].
Hamilton looked at his drunken wife, his face twitching. Finally, he sighed.
"Catherine, if this is what you want to do, then so be it."
If Baron had been there to hear Hamilton's words, he would have silently crowned him the number one cuckold of the Inner Side.
Isabella had a Wizard use a sobering Magic Card on Catherine. She then looked at Catherine, who was now clearing her head from the drunken stupor, and said, "Miss Catherine, do you have anything to say for yourself?"
Even while being restrained, Catherine still wore a flirtatious, amorous smile, likely confident that her status meant these Law Enforcers wouldn't dare do anything to her.
She asked, "If I had slept with the famous Dragon Knight, Constantine, would I be considered just as guilty?"
"Take her away," Isabella said coldly. "I will personally interrogate her after this incident is resolved."
The members of the Van Helsing Clan didn't object. The eldest daughter of the Beowulf Clan certainly had the authority and power to make such a declaration.
As for Hamilton, he was in no position to speak. Though his tragic expression suggested he wanted to plead for his wife, the equally noble status of the Beowulf Clan prevented him from saying a word.
"As for these Dragon Devourer Cultists,"
Isabella looked at the cultists who had been hiding in VIP Room 505, now hauled forward by the Knights. The cultists' faces were ashen, showing no signs of life.
According to the Law Enforcers who captured them, after their initial shock at being discovered, the men had committed suicide by poison without a moment's hesitation.
"Take blood samples from these Dragon Devourer Cultists for analysis. See if they drank the blood of that Blood Race member. Also, search Miss Catherine's room for any evidence of drinking."
She continued, "This will at least give us a preliminary judgment on the relationship between the member of the Blood Race and these Dragon Devourer Cultists."
At her words, everyone looked at Isabella with admiration. Her ability to make such a connection so quickly was proof of her sharp mind.
Combined with her immense power, unparalleled beauty, and noble birth, it was no wonder so many young prodigies of the Inner Side had their marriage proposals rejected. It seemed that only a man like Silver Lion Wilder was worthy of her notice.
Wilder, too, was somewhat surprised by the rationality and composure Isabella displayed. He nodded in agreement and immediately ordered a few of his Lion-eyed Knights to carry out the task—Isabella had used her Spiritual Power to tell him specifically to use the Lion-eyed Knights.
'She must have discovered something,' Wilder guessed, 'and it might involve the Griffin Knight Order.'
Isabella spoke again, her voice cold. "Conduct a thorough search of every room in this auction house, including the VIP suites. If anyone resists, you have my permission to act as you see fit. Kill them and bring me the bodies. The Beowulf Clan will bear full responsibility for any charges."
Her words finally put Zick's anxious heart at ease. He glanced at his cousin, Dewey, who snorted and sent him a message with his Spiritual Power:
"You got lucky, kid. You're not some piece of trash like Bill that even your own family looks down on. Just remember this: when it comes to matters involving the Old Blood Clans and the Law Enforcement Organization, you never, ever stick your neck out without permission from the higher-ups."
Zick accepted his cousin's lesson with a sense of shame. 'I really didn't think it through,' he thought. 'If I'd known Catherine was the Legitimate Daughter of the Van Helsing Clan, I never would have stuck my neck out like that.'
'How is such recklessness any different from what Aile would do?' Zick silently thanked his lucky stars that the Van Helsing Clan's attention was currently focused on Adam. At the same time, the eldest daughter of the Beowulf Clan was just as extraordinarily domineering as the rumors claimed. 'No wonder so many of my colleagues in London City could never forget her.'
'I just wonder which young master from which Old Blood Clan will be lucky enough to win a woman like her someday.'
A faint trace of adoration now tinged Zick's gaze as he looked at Isabella.
Isabella was unaware that she had unintentionally captured yet another young man's heart. She said coldly:
"Focus on the fifth floor, where the VIP suites are. Prioritize the search of VIP Suite 506, where the escaped member of the Blood Race was staying."
"Miss Isabella, forgive my bluntness, but how did you know the member of the Blood Race escaped from Room 506?"
The Knight Commander from the Griffin Knight Order, the one who had forced open the door to Room 506, suddenly stepped forward. His unexpected question drew the gazes of several Law Enforcers. He looked at Isabella and said:
"I haven't even said that out loud yet."
