Chapter 422 - 236: Enjoying Being Fought Over by Women

  • Next Chapter

Barbara was every bit the famous socialite of the Inner Side. Her expression stiffened for only a moment before her coquettish, amorous smile returned.

"Of course. When I return to the Hestia Family, I’ll discuss this matter with Elder Pence."

’"Discuss this matter?" Yeah, right. The Dragon Eater Association is almost certainly making their move tonight; we might not even live to see tomorrow... Speaking of which, this woman, Barbara Hestia... If I’m not mistaken, wasn’t she the one in the Magic Power Carriage last time, the one who was screaming for me to take her? It couldn’t be, could it?’

Last time on the Magic Train, he hadn’t paid much attention to Barbara—nicknamed the "Extremely Enchanting Witch" by those on the Inner Side—because the lights had been too dim, the train too fast, and the battle too fierce. Now that he had a clear look at her, he had to admit the nickname was fitting. The woman was a total vixen.

Baron’s gaze subconsciously fell to Barbara’s ample chest. Although things had moved quickly on the Magic Train, thanks to a Dragon Knight’s superhuman vision, he had caught a fleeting glimpse when she threw herself at him, and the memory was still fresh.

Miss Barbara chuckled, lightly covering her chest with a handkerchief.

"Miss Freya, it seems your attendant has some wandering eyes."

"I’ll gouge his eyes out when we get back," Freya said, her tone as haughty as ever.

It seemed Baron’s decision to have her just be herself had been the right one after all.

But just then, Isabella cut in. "If you’re afraid of having your eyes gouged out, Sir Attendant, how about defecting to my Beowulf Clan? I can cover the entire cost of breaking your contract."

"You’re overstepping, Miss Isabella. Are all the members of the Beowulf Clan so shameless?" Freya sneered.

Isabella retorted, "At least that’s better than a certain someone who announced her broken engagement in the papers."

Freya flared up. "Do you have any idea what you’re saying, Miss Isabella? Is this how the Beowulf Clan treats its partners?"

The Beowulf Clan and Lancelot’s Family did indeed have a business partnership, mainly in the wholesale of raw materials for Magic Potions and Magic Staffs—in other words, the various body parts of Dragon Descendants.

"Soon, we won’t be," Isabella said coolly.

Freya froze, then immediately understood the hidden meaning in Isabella’s words.

Freya’s gaze toward Isabella shifted. ’This woman, half Old Blood and half Bloodless... has she really been chosen as a candidate for the next Patriarch of the Beowulf Clan?’

"So I advise you to watch yourself, Miss Lancelot," Isabella said, resting her chin on her hand, her expression apathetic and disdainful. "Not everyone is going to spoil you like your brother and fiancé do."

"That’s because you don’t have anyone to spoil you," Freya retorted, her words as sharp as ever.

Isabella raised an eyebrow. "Hm?"

The air crackled with tension. Just as the two women seemed ready to clash again, Lucy hurriedly stepped in to mediate, defusing the situation slightly.

From beginning to end, the attendant at the center of the dispute showed no expression, much to the envy of the surrounding men. He simply looked at the ceiling, the floor, and around the venue, thinking, ’This auction hall is inhumanly extravagant.’

This behavior, however, made Barbara take a keen interest in the seemingly ordinary man, especially after seeing him defeat Elder Pence’s guard in a single move and now remain completely unfazed while being fought over by the legitimate daughters of two Old Blood Clans.

"Miss Freya, if you ask me, your attendant seems to be enjoying being surrounded by women," Barbara suddenly purred.
