Chapter 29: A Daddy’s Boy

This genius who had just awakened an SSS Rank profession and was about to become one of the academy’s key cultivation targets had completely disregarded all the academy instructors, including Albert, and was asking a fellow student for permission!

This was completely unheard of! It was not only a slap to the academy’s face, but it also completely transformed the way everyone in the spectator stands looked at Victor.

Although Victor didn’t hold any academic position, subconsciously, everyone turned to him, waiting for what he would say.

Victor, however, responded naturally as if he didn’t find anything wrong with Leah’s actions.

"Yes, you can go, but three days is too long."

Hearing this, Albert’s eyes twitched as he glared at Victor. "The academy’s evaluation isn’t a waste of time."

"I know." Victor looked at him. "But she doesn’t have three days to waste."

Albert’s expression darkened slightly. "What do you mean?"

"Twelve days from now, I’m taking people into the Inferno Prison Secret Realm," Victor spoke calmly.

"She’s going too?"

"If she’s suitable."

"She possesses an astral profession." Albert frowned. "The Inferno Prison Secret Realm is a purely fire attributed environment. It has no known growth value for her."

"That’s exactly why we should test it now." Victor looked toward Leah. "Can she only absorb astral energy? No one knows. Can she utilize resources of other attributes? No one knows. Then test it."

Albert didn’t say a word because, surprisingly, that logic... actually made sense.

An unknown profession, by definition, meant every growth path had to be explored from scratch, unlike normal professions with information about them available everywhere.

But what irked him was that such logical thinking was coming from this wastrel!

Suppressing his emotions, he asked, "How do you want to test it?"

Victor looked toward one side of the testing area, where more than a dozen crystals used for testing elemental professions were arranged. Among them, one was entirely crimson.

"That one." Victor raised his hand. "The High Purity Fire Element Core."

The instructor overseeing the tests paused, eyes widening in shock. "You want her to absorb fire elemental energy?"

"Just watch." Victor walked over and pressed his palm against the crystal. The system immediately issued a notification.

[High Purity Fire Element Energy detected.]

[Devour?]

The corner of Victor’s lips lifted slightly.

One of the evolution conditions required for fire element affinity was three High Purity Fire Element Cores.

This was perfect! Of course, this one belonged to the academy. He could not exactly devour the entire thing, so he would only take a little for the test.

"Devour."

Buzz!

Crimson energy began to surge into his palm.

[Fire Element Energy Absorbed: 32.]

[Purification Complete.]

[Convert into Permanent Mana?]

’No.’ Victor replied internally and then looked toward Leah. "Come here."

The girl obediently walked over without asking many questions.

"Your hand." Leah extended her right hand, and Victor pressed his palm against hers.

Cecilia stood nearby, and for some reason, her gaze became slightly strange.

Holding hands again?

Victor did not notice at all. He slowly transferred the purified fire elemental energy into Leah, causing her body to tremble as the silver Astral Core immediately began rotating.

As the crimson energy entered her body, there was no conflict. Instead, the silver light covering the surface of the Astral Core directly enveloped it and in the next second, every trace of crimson rapidly disappeared.

The fire attribute vanished, completely converted into a portion of her astral mana.

[Effect: Can convert a certain percentage of external elemental energy into personal astral mana.]

Victor’s eyes lit up.

’Excellent!’

This meant Leah did not have to rely exclusively on extremely scarce astral resources. Fire elements, ice elements, lightning elements, perhaps even the mana contained within ordinary mana crystals... all of them could potentially become resources for her growth.

There would simply be conversion losses.

Eighteen percent was indeed low, but she had only just awakened. If it could be increased in the future, the potential was terrifying.

Albert could not help looking at Victor again.

He had naturally noticed the strange ability Victor had just displayed, but he made no attempt to question him about it. Every professional had its own secrets, and unless Victor willingly chose to explain his abilities, even the academy had no right to pry.

Besides, even if they wanted to force him, would they really risk provoking the old Duke Alves?

Definitely not!

What truly puzzled Albert was something else.

Albert clearly saw what Victor did right there. He was purposely throwing his father’s name into the conversation. It seemed that even though he appeared to have changed, he was still as shameless as before.

’There’s no use asking,’ he thought, shaking his head.

Suddenly, a commotion came from the other side of the training ground, causing all the heads to turn in that direction.

"Move."

A cold, deep voice sounded, and the crowd voluntarily parted, allowing a black haired young man to slowly walk in.

Victor frowned, wondering who would be so audacious, and after turning his head in that direction, he knew why.

There was only one person who was this bold and confident.

...It was none other than Ryan Carter, the protagonist of this world.
