Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling
Chapter 791 Confession
“You’re the ones who set the fire?” The Madman quickly put the pieces together.
‘A fire starts in the middle of the night to distract the entire village. Then these three bastards come to assault Rosalind. Down below, the fire is raging and the villagers are in a complete panic. Even if Rosalind screamed her lungs out, no one would hear her.’
‘Thank God he couldn’t sleep tonight and went out for a walk, and just so happened to think of visiting the beauty. Otherwise, Rosalind’s virtue would have been lost.’
The Madman gritted his teeth. He had to find that venomous snake. ‘In fact, I have a pretty good idea who it is. Besides Bernice, who else would want Rosalind and her son dead?’
‘That bastard Ethan Hawthorne is so fucking useless. He can’t even rein in the woman at his side. He has no right to be Rosalind’s husband.’
“It wasn’t us! It was someone else! He was sent by that pretty woman, he used to live in this village! He’s the one who set the fire!” The three goons scrambled to absolve themselves, trying to drag Vernon Spann down with them.
The Madman frowned. He didn’t know much about Bernice’s affairs, so he hadn’t thought of Vernon Spann. But he could ask Adrian Hawthorne; that kid would definitely know who it was.
A clamor arose from the foot of the hill. It was Phoebe Huxley, Will, and Old Master Tate.
The fire was out, but the Spann family’s house had burned to the ground. Half of Sherman Golding’s house was also gone. All the supplies for the wedding banquet were burned to a crisp, and the sewing machine was now just scrap metal. Absolutely nothing was left.
Mandy York couldn’t take the shock and fainted. Sherman Golding and his son were also utterly devastated, a truly pitiful sight.
Phoebe Huxley saw Old Master Tate and, worried that Rosalind might be scared, came over for a look. Will didn’t see the Madman, and a moment’s thought was all it took to guess his boss had gone to see the beauty, so he came along too.
“Rosalind… Hey, what’s with these three guys?”
Phoebe Huxley called out from a distance. When she saw the three goons, she immediately sensed something was wrong, and her face darkened.
Rosalind came out. Her eyes reddened the moment she saw Phoebe Huxley; she felt more relieved than if the cavalry had arrived. “Aurelia, just now, three bad men tried to assault me. Thankfully, Mr. Yates was passing by, otherwise I…”
“These three are the sons of bitches?”
Phoebe Huxley asked, pointing at the three goons, her menacing aura no less intense than the Madman’s. The three goons were shaking like sieves. ‘Where did this tigress come from? How is she even scarier than a gang boss?’
Rosalind nodded, her voice laced with hatred. “It’s them. If Mr. Yates hadn’t heroically stepped in, I… I wouldn’t have been able to go on living.”
Will glanced at his boss, full of secret admiration. ‘That’s the boss for you,’ he thought. ‘His game is on a whole other level. He must have set up this whole “hero saves the damsel” act. The beauty will be head over heels for him now.’
He assumed the Madman had secretly arranged for these three goons to be here. How else could it be such a coincidence?
Phoebe Huxley rolled up her sleeves, hauled one of the goons to his feet, and swung a punch at him. “You dare lay a hand on my sister? I’ll cut off your family jewels and make you a eunuch!”
After a few more punches, the goon’s face was battered, swollen, and covered in blood. The other two were so scared they nearly pissed themselves, regretting their decision to their very core. ‘If we’d known this mountain village had bandits,’ they thought, ‘we wouldn’t have taken the job even if Bernice offered ten thousand yuan.’
‘Money is great, but you have to be alive to spend it!’
“Spare us, heroine! We were just paid to do a job! Please spare our worthless lives…” The goons kowtowed and begged for mercy. All they wanted was to get back to Tristone alive and never set foot in Vessaria again.
‘We should have known,’ they thought. ‘This godforsaken place, Vessaria, is what produced a hegemon like King Gideon. Even Xi Shi wasn’t some delicate beauty. The people here are absolutely fierce. How could we possibly have gotten the upper hand?’
‘Regret!’
