Chapter 792 Determined to Get a Divorce

“Who paid you to come here?” Phoebe Huxley and Rosalind Green demanded at the same time.

With Phoebe Huxley by her side, Rosalind Green’s voice grew louder and her courage swelled. She even felt the urge to go up and land a few kicks.

“It was a beautiful woman. She lives at 145 Ashton Road in the Silvan District. She paid four thousand yuan for us to… take care of you and your son…”

The thugs were scared out of their wits, even confessing where Bernice lived.

Rosalind Green’s face fell. “That woman lives at 145 Ashton Road? Are you sure you’re not mistaken?”

“That’s right. It’s a nice villa. I had one of my guys follow her and confirm the house number.” The leader of the thugs seemed to read the situation and kowtowed even harder. “That woman also wanted us to kill your son, but I wasn’t going to do it. We’re just small-time crooks; we’d never commit murder. We didn’t set the fire, either. That woman had someone else do it. I think it was one of her relatives, someone who’s lived here for years. The house that was set on fire is where he used to live.”

Without Phoebe Huxley even having to ask, the leader of the thugs confessed everything he knew, holding nothing back.

Phoebe Huxley immediately guessed who set the fire. The blaze started at the Spann family’s place. Who could it be but Vernon Spann?

“Is he an effeminate-looking guy, around forty?”

“Yes, yes, that’s him.”

Phoebe Huxley cursed in anger, “It was that son of a bitch, Vernon Spann. I have to go tell Fourth Uncle. We can’t let that animal get away with this.”

After running a few steps, Phoebe Huxley came back, dragging one of them along. She said to Will, “Big brother, do me a favor. I need to take these three bastards to see my Fourth Uncle. He’s the village chief.”

Feng Ye nodded at Will, who then picked up one of the thugs and followed Phoebe Huxley down the mountain.

Rosalind Green stood there in a daze, feeling not only anger but also sorrow.

She had already guessed who wanted to harm her. It could be no one else but that woman at her husband’s side. This woman even wanted to take her son’s life—she was more venomous than a viper.

‘Did Ethan Hawthorne know about this?’

‘Or had Ethan Hawthorne tacitly approved of it?’

The thought that it was likely the latter cut Rosalind Green’s heart deeper than a knife. ‘Do my son and I really mean nothing to him at all?’

‘Does he even want us dead?’

Hearing the commotion outside, Mrs. Green came out, trembling. When Rosalind Green saw her, tears streamed down her face. She hugged her mother and cried, “Mom, it was that woman who tried to harm me and Kenneth! Ethan Hawthorne definitely knew about it! How could he be so cruel? How could he do this…”

“Don’t cry. We haven’t gotten to the bottom of this yet. Mom will go back to Tristone with you to confront Ethan Hawthorne in person.”

Mrs. Green felt terrible as well. ‘To think her son-in-law was involved…’ Still, she couldn’t believe Ethan Hawthorne could be so heartless. She had to ask him face-to-face to get the truth.

“What’s there to ask? For five years, he hasn’t cared about us at all, just having his fun with that woman. He couldn’t care less if Kenneth and I live or die! Now that the two of us are in the way of him and his new love, he wants to get rid of us. I want a divorce! Mom, don’t try to stop me. I’ll let him have that woman!”

Rosalind was both heartbroken and furious. She had truly given up on Ethan Hawthorne. She no longer wanted to hold on to the empty title of Mrs. Hawthorne. She would let that venomous woman have it.

Feng Ye barely suppressed his delight. He wanted to raise both his hands and feet in support. ‘Of course she should divorce him! That bastard Ethan Hawthorne doesn’t deserve a beauty like her.’

“Don’t be rash. Let’s wait for Kenneth to come back and discuss it with him. Even if you do get a divorce, you need to get to the bottom of this first,” Mrs. Green coaxed gently. However, her own resolve wasn’t as firm as before.

‘Whether Ethan Hawthorne was involved or not, tonight’s disaster was his fault. Of all the people he could have gotten involved with, he had to pick a viper. If it happened once, it’ll happen again. Next time, she might harm my daughter and grandson!’
