Chapter 322: Parasite [ 1 ]
"I’m sorry about yesterday," Clementine apologized and fixed her hair as she got up from the bed. I stared at her back, and although we didn’t have sex, seeing her confident enough to not wear a nearly see-through bra was definitely more than I was expecting.
As for me, I was in my underwear, basking in her glory.
"Don’t worry about it, I understand. If I was in your position, I’d probably feel the same."
She tied her hair into a ponytail, then nodded at me.
"Can we do the thing already?"
I thought over it for a moment before finally nodding back at her. We had discussed it plenty of times while in bed the other day, and by now, we were sure that this place was as safe as it could get.
So for that reason alone, both of us decided to consume the Titan’s heart potion inside her giant room. Obviously, we decided to take turns, since if both of us take it at the same time, and then the other has an issue... We’d pretty much kill each other by accident.
That was something I didn’t want, obviously.
And as it so happens, I decided to let her be the first one to drink it, as I also wanted to watch over Jenna in the meantime. In fact, I got dressed right away and even helped Clementine make her hair even prettier.
In the end, I went ahead to fetch Jenna, and Clementine took out the vial. From the look on her face, it was obvious she was underestimating how potent something like this could be, but then again, she was someone whose durability rivaled even people several Grades higher than her.
That even included me... who was acting like a pervert who stared at her through the walls.
Ahem.
Eventually, I reached Jenna’s room, and right as I was about to knock on the door, I felt a small amount of energy coming from within. For a brief moment, I thought that she had accidentally transformed again.
Yet the moment I swung open the door in panic, I was left relieved to find her simply laying there and playing around with a feather. It was a feather from her wings.
She looked very bored at a glance, but from the fact that there was a bunch of make-up all over her face, messily and amateurishly drawn, I felt like she at least had something to calm her hyper energy.
Well... That, and all the dresses that were scattered around her room, none of which she seemed to particularly like except the red dress she was now wearing. Her favorite color was red, maybe?
I stared at her until she finally noticed my presence. The moment she did, she stood up and stomped over to me, a pout on her face.
"My wings and I had a talk yesterday."
"...?"
What?
"They said you’re a liar, but they’re not telling me what you lied about. What did you lie about, Amon?" she asked in a surprisingly mature voice.
I was taken aback briefly, more so by the fact that she managed to talk to her wings rather than the obvious lie I told. I knew very well what lie she was talking about, as it was none other than the lie of me not killing her father.
After all, while she might’ve been passed out, her wings likely had some semblance of consciousness to see everything in the meantime.
I let out a sigh, and instead of explaining, I just gestured at her to follow me.
"I’ll tell you later. For now, come with me. I need to watch over you while Clementine and I do some stuff."
Her pout grew even bigger, but she also knew she didn’t have much of a choice here.
"You’re treating me just like my father."
I rolled my eyes and didn’t say anything. Leading her to Clementine’s room was simple, except for the fact that this girl had the urge to check every little thing and every minor detail when passing by anything.
A butterfly? Oh, what color?
A sword? How firm was the handle?
I could understand her curiosity, but still... Maybe I’m just bad at dealing with kids. Not that she’s that much younger than me. I’m still 18. She’s 16.
Anyhow, by the time we arrived at Clementine’s room, she had already managed to take a shower. Not to mention, she had uncorked the vial, and as if she was waiting for me to enter, she went ahead and downed the entire bottle in one go.
I just stared at her with a frown. We had talked about this, and we also made sure to only drink whenever we were sure it was completely safe. Sure, I was being overly protective, but it couldn’t hurt to be protective when Clementine was in a state where she wanted to just get stronger.
Still, I gave her the benefit of the doubt, hoping she had done the final preparations while I wasn’t here. And of course, I went ahead and approached her, staring down at her as she stared back at me.
"Feeling anything?" I asked.
She shook her head. "It’s almost like I ate something really spicy. Though, my spice tolerance is pretty high, so I don’t think I’ll feel... Nope, I’m feeling it."
It didn’t take long before her whole face turned red. Her body began heating up rapidly, and for a brief moment, I was afraid something had gone wrong. But that was when she suddenly covered her whole body in diamonds.
Small gaps formed in those diamonds, and through those small gaps, bursts of steam exited, almost like she was controlling the heat of her body that way. It was smart, and I felt like I had nothing to worry about, so I just settled her onto the bed and watched the process unfold from the other side of the bed.
Except when I looked a bit closer, that process was a bit more peculiar than I thought.
