Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year
Chapter 438 - 436: Dog Bites Dog 2
A single word would make all the difference in the world to him!
He had no desire to rot in prison for the rest of his life.
"Did Melody Monroe send you?" he asked hastily. "I was wrong! Please, tell Melody Monroe I’m truly sorry. Beg her to spare me! I’ll find a way to repay her, I’m begging you!"
"Repay her? It would be enough if you didn’t try to get revenge," Keith Coleman said with a cold laugh.
"Please, I’m begging you! I only went after Melody Monroe because I wasn’t thinking straight. I truly know I was wrong now!" Raymond Ford had no one to rely on; he was completely cornered.
Now that someone from Melody Monroe’s side had come to see him, he felt a glimmer of hope. ’This could be my lifeline!’
"Do you know what happened when Melody was injured during the filming of *Warm Wind*?"
Raymond Ford’s face went pale, and he anxiously twisted the hem of his shirt. ’If this gets out, won’t I just be in even deeper trouble?’
"Well, if you’re not willing to cooperate, then never mind."
"I’ll talk! I’ll talk!" Raymond Ford blurted out. "But if I do, will you promise to spare me? I don’t want to die! And I don’t want to spend my life in prison! Please, I’m begging you!"
"If you talk, I can leave your lawyer out of it. How good he is will be up to your own luck. As for what happened with Melody, you’d better think carefully about what you’re going to say. I just need a witness."
Raymond Ford heard this and understood instantly.
’That incident was Rhona Hughes’s doing. I can rat her out and get myself completely off the hook!’
’As for his case with Claire Ross, as long as Keith Coleman didn’t interfere, he still had a sliver of hope.’
’If Keith Coleman got involved, all hope would be lost!’
"You knew all along, didn’t you?" Raymond Ford asked, his face ashen as he suddenly understood everything.
"That’s right," Keith Coleman nodded.
"You held off on making a move because *Warm Wind* hadn’t finished airing. Now that Melody Monroe has both fame and fortune, you’re finally taking action." Raymond Ford finished with a bitter smile.
’I’m so jealous of Melody Monroe. She has all the luck.’
’And here I am, ending up with nothing, in a mess like this.’
"What goes around comes around. You reap what you sow," Keith Coleman said before getting up to leave.
...
Melody Monroe had been so busy lately she was constantly on the move. When she got tired, she would take a quick break and catch a nap in the van before having to rush off to the next engagement.
"Melody, rest for a little longer. We have to be at the cultural center in an hour," Talia Mercer said, updating her on the schedule.
"Okay. I get it." Melody Monroe nodded, a hint of exhaustion creasing her brow. "I still prefer acting in dramas. I don’t want to be a celebrity; it’s too exhausting. It would be so much better to just be an actor and focus only on acting."
"And you don’t need to earn money?" Talia Mercer retorted with a smile.
Melody Monroe jolted upright. ’That question cuts right to the soul!’
’That’s right. She’d opened her own studio now. A million could disappear in the blink of an eye, and this was just the start.’
’Make money! Money! Of course I have to make it. Lots of it!’
"Melody! Quick, look! A message from Director Walsh!"
"What message?"
"Zane Langdon... Zane Langdon!" Talia Mercer was so excited she was practically speechless.
Melody Monroe pulled out her phone, opened their work group chat, and saw a flood of identical messages.
"Welcome, Mr. Langdon!"
Melody Monroe quickly scrolled up and saw a message from Director Walsh: "Welcoming Zane Langdon to the cast. He will be playing the King of the Kingdom of Cygnus."
Further up was the notification that Zane Langdon had joined the group.
"Welcome, Mr. Langdon!" Melody Monroe typed, sending one herself.
